Thanks doc
She's still going strong, especially after the performance from FF16, that was incredible.
ff12
Honestly this. FFXI was the starting point because even though I bought it for PS2 and played it, I was too young to fully understand MMO mechanics and suffered greatly because of that
13
Never
I hope you’re not implying you actually like the series instead of just one or two specific games that you autistically defend from even the mildest of criticisms while degenerating into an uncontrollable rage when you see positive discussion about any of the others in the franchise’s history
When Toriyama escaped from his handlers and made an entire trilogy of shit games about his waifu
XII was the last real FF though
>linear
>turn based combat
>story focus
>edgy MC and party but not too deep into nomura autism
>KINO ost
>finished
* XIII
XIII was just from the other half of the coin that made the first few KH games and FFX work, it was unironically much worse narratively than any other games in the franchise, even the post-natal abortion that was XV
XIII is shit, have a nice day and complete the Paris syndrome cycle so you can meet Lightning in a Parisian cafe.
Yes, that is what I meant by saying it was the worst written game in the series anon, what did you think my post said
Characters were shit
Story was moronic
Everybody realized this in the first fricking game but then they KEPT MAKING THEM
Lightning is a TERRIBLE FRICKING CHARACTER and Toriyama should have been stopped
You guys act like the very second game wasn't already a huge disappointment. FF was always a mid-series with its ups and downs.
Between X-2 and 12
I stopped paying attention to this series after FFXII. The game is fine but honestly I only really care about the series' job system and I stopped buying consoles after the PS2.
Now I just replay FFV when I feel like playing Final Fantasy.
it never lived for me. the only FF i ever managed to finish was 6.
jrpgs are such mind numbing video "games", the setting, characters and music saved that one
Signs were there with XII, but the nail in the coffin was XIII.
FF7
Dying with 13
Killed with 15
XII was the first time I was absolutely disappointed in the series (though I wasn't a fan of 9 either). I craved something that was mindblowing like VII or X. In hindsight XII seems like a pretty great game and it's still an RPG. Not my cup of tea with combat or scenario but it's cool in my book now - never played it beyond a couple hours though.
XIII was the bullet in the head because it, and everything afterwards has been unfinished shit that don't tell a satisfying story. I hate how experimental the gameplay has become - it's schizo tier how often it's changing between entries.
Classic Square would have just kept retweaking the existing combat, while making new IPs for all these new engines. I will admit VII Remake's combat was fun though, and I can accept more like that.
Still, the FF series is so all over the place now - there's nothing consistent to take hold of and enjoy. You can't expect a comparable experience between entries now. I think that's why the nostalgia baiting has gone so hard, wherein forcing the crystal and summons and doing constant gatcha tier cross over shit is to trick you into thinking FF still has an identity.
Ff8
I have been really enjoying ff7r on my deck oled though.
FF11 was when i felt the 'magic' disappear and the 'throw shit at the wall and see what works' philosophy started producing something different.
12, 13 were both steps in the wrong direction imo, though i'm not saying they are bad games. 14 ARR reintroduced that magic, but 15 and 16 are going the same direction as 12-13 did
XIII. A clear downgrade in story / gameplay from everything that came before it. The game is incredibly forced and incomprehensible.
tbh FF10 was the point the series turned gay for me. the rock-paper-scissors battle system was boring as frick and i didn't care for the setting or any of the cast
It was also basically a trial run for 13 imo with its "world" that is just a series of linear dungeons stitched together
FF8, they peaked at FF7 (old one)
This one. Great character design and music wasted on utterly dogshit writing.
It hasn't. Because I can take away positives and negative aspects yet finds enjoyment from each game. I don't know why you guys have such an issue with games being "slightly less good". They're still good.
>m-muh "sloppa"!
I just like videogames and there is something that FF does that you can't really find in other franchises. Also, their games are pretty well polished on release and have pretty good production quality. What I want them to do now is to not be so scared of taking things from their previous entries and build upon the good and fix the bad. Like, why're there no more camping in XVI? No external buffs from foods for example. No party command mechanic? Those are legitimately good things in XV. Weakness based stagger system so that people would think to use which eikon? No? No swappable eikons during battle? Really? So Clive can only just use 3 eikons at a time? How's that "realistic", Yoshi-P?
10 was my favorite one but it is definitely a big turning point in the series so i'd say the original formula "died" there
Everything after 9 I finished it last year the moment the new year began best feeling ever.
FF9 was the first final fantasy i never finished.
I think I spent so much time on the endgame sidequests that I forgot why I was even chasing Kuja. The end game synergy is weak.
Kek, this is my exact feelings on 6 actually because WoR can be summed up with get a new ship and fight Kefka, I personally loved 9 a lot and it might be the only game I played that doesn't have a moment where things slowdown the pacing was perfect for me.
The cook and the red haired homosexual were pointless characters.
*takes 20 seconds to load into combat*
I want to say FF13 , but truthfully speaking, FF12 fricking sucked.
XIII
The only good things now are the 7 Remakes and 14. The MMO I have a love/hate relationship with tho
Im enjoying X but its starting to feel a slog to get through. Im hoping there is not much left, I just got the airship
X was the swan song. XIII was unbelievable garbage and made me quit my “platinum every numbered Final Fantasy” goal. Haven’t played anything after that, but I thought Origins and XVI looked more fun than Type 0 or XV.
Versus XIII.
FF13, I was so hyped..
final fantasy 1
its a meme but xiii was so fricking trash, i don't usually have those moments where i instantly drop something but i just couldnt force myself to play that any longer than i did.
When the first one released.
was filtered an hour into 7
last good game was 12. everything from 13 on has been gutter tripe. even the MMOs have moved backwards, with old-school kino like 11 watered down into a troon hellscape with 14.
