The release of the PS1.
Gen 7. You wouldn't understand since you were, likely, enabling it back then
OP said primarily not the time it was introduced.
When companies started to waste everyone's time shilling indies at E3 conferences and shit
And uncharted kek
Resident Evil 4
Are you seriously implying that Bastion isn't fun to play
I'm implying that it isn't the main draw of the game. In terms of gameplay it's servicable but the reason people like it is clearly it's presentation.
I think its pretty middling to play, not really a lot of good weapons
At least it's not Transistor gameplay because god what a slog that game was
I felt the opposite, I always hated supergiants real time combat because to me it never felt good with the isometric camera; I even bounced off of hades.
Transistor felt like a more cohesive experience and the actual gameplay was more fun to me, because it was about figuring out combos than mashing x
>ecause it was about figuring out combos than mashing x
if you played Bastion by mashing then you did it VERY wrong
Im legitimately curious, what the frick else was I supposed to do
you had an attack button, a switch weapon and a dodge (? its been a while since I've played it, I might be misremembering). The enemies were just damage sponges or died in one hit iirc
you have a shield and frickload of other weapons and upgrades. come on use your gamer imagination.
I bet you never thought about using the musket along with the dual smg (that has homing bullets)
it's gameplay was really mid. every other aspect of the game more than made up for the boring gameplay though.
Game feels like a chore to play ngl
But this game is fun though, and it has a god tier OST and a great story
The best part of Bastion is the fun gameplay. I wish they'd consider making a sequel because I don't feel the same way about Hades.
People realized you could use interactive video technology to tell stories. There's nothing wrong with that, nor is it some new thing.
It absolutely is the downfall of vidya, most stories told is made by incompetents who havent read a piece of literature in their life
Name a single piece of literature you've read in the past year.
Are you saying myst is the downfall of gaming lmao
when I was a kid I would look up the constellations on various dates in the planetarium thing. very cool game.
This is the main reason Nintendo games would be my main games. I liked alot of non Nintendo games like Battlefield 3/4, the monster hunter series, Sly Cooper, Halo 2, etc. But the only Non Nintendo games I truly loved were LittleBigPlanet 1 & 2 and some of the only genuinely fun non Nintendo console games. Everything else is muh realism muh mimicking movies muh shocking reality muh graphics muh slow walking. I want video gamey videogames and Nintendo gives me that because they focus on gameplay first and shoehorn some "story" after. The older stuff anyway. New games are watered down. I also pirate them because israelitetendo haven't lowered any mainline games below $40 in years, shills can suck it.
Pretty immediately with the personal computer and home consoles after the Atari.
bastion is 4 scrubs (rip rockwiener64)
not that I 100% disagree, but god this style of humor is so fricking obnoxious in hindsight
TBG was kinda hit or miss overall. Loved the editing/sound design though. But the real treat was people getting genuinely angry at something that was more parody than actual trolling
a fun experience
there, happy now, homosexualron?
"Experiences" rely on the impression of fun, not getting hold of actual fun of it. Hence why shmup are called the purest form sometimes
Games like Quake and Unreal are peak tier
when braid came out it spawned a wave of artsy fartsy indie games
Experiences are fun, tho.
And Bastion is crap.
>When did games stop being primarily about being fun to play and start being about creating an "experience"
After Half Life 1 came out
Pic not related?? Bastion is like 90% gameplay and 10% story shit
Probably since before you were born. Like in the mid to late 80s when point and click adventures and interactive fiction became popular. There's nothing wrong with it either. People like different things than you do, get over it.
