The whole "Sony Movie game" thing didn't fully settle in until TLOU and ever since that game Sony had been making a whole lot of questionable choices for Playstation. It's one of my favorite games of all time but that's exactly what it is. Uncharted 4 has more side roads to explore. The only difference is that Uncharted 4 has poor writing, but otherwise they are structured in the same way.

This, MGS was always the perfect marriage of gameplay and story. The dynamic codec convos for everything you do, the fourth wall breaks, it would be an inferior movie because at its core it's very gamey. Games like TLOU just have shitty boring gameplay that no one even talks about, it's just an inferior version of Uncharted with horrible stealth.

Closing down Japan Studio and then turning around and spending 3.6 billion dollars on Bungie (?) of all things really shows where the frick we are.

People have long since forgotten that the PS4 was also going to have the same daily online check and no support for used games that the Xbone was going to have and was only able to pull out of that because Sony always held their E3 conference the next day.
Also, keep in mind that these were things that game companies like Ubisoft and EA heavily requested from both makers, because these were things they wanted to enforce themselves but could not get standardized (see also: Activision wanting Sony to raise the MSRP to $70 which succeeded), this was back when physical was still the standard and they were already trying to combat the used games market/piracy issues with shit like the online pass vouchers, so it wasn't as if Bill Gates had a massive stroke and used the Xbox as a marketing Guinea pig or Kaz was being an honorabru samurai.

It began in earnest when they started charging money for PSN. I was ready to wash my hands of them when that happened, but I started dating a girl in 2015 that owned a PS4 and ended up getting sucked into that ecosystem for a few years.
The PS4 was really mediocre, but some really good games came out that generation, and I loved Bloodborne. I lost interest in what Sony had to bring to the table once the Uncharted series wrapped up.
They gave me no compelling reasons to buy a PS5, and their decisions with the brand since that point have continued to baffle me. They shuttered Japan Studio and are now selling a $200 wi-fi only tablet for remote play. I’ll be shocked if PlayStation still exists in the 2030s.
It was a double hit of when they closed the Japanese studio and moved to California. They killed their own soul. Nothing has done more damage to Sony's identity of being an international and eclectic brand than that.

When gtx 1070s launched for like 350 bucks and you could build an awesome pc for like 600 dollars if you priced it out like a non-idiot. A gtx 1070 will still hit 1080p 60fps on like high settings while then playstation 5 targets moronic adaptive resolution that looks good sometimes and like ass other times dropping to like 480p. Too bad the market is fully fricked now. Thankfully i bought an rtx 2080 on sale for 700 bucks on release, undervolted to hit the same stock clock speeds and it runs at like 58c under full load. Its got so many peak performance hours. Easily pushing 25-30k hours over the last 5 years and ive only replaced the TIM once because evga fricked that up during manufacturing. Not a single hickup or fricked up noise.
Take the undervolt pill. Its more important than overclocking because frick dropping frames when it hits 70c. There is no point to overclocking cards anymore when they come jqcked up on mountain dew and cocaine. Settle them down a bit and they run better and cooler.

The PS4 was really mediocre, but some really good games came out that generation, and I loved Bloodborne. I lost interest in what Sony had to bring to the table once the Uncharted series wrapped up.
They gave me no compelling reasons to buy a PS5, and their decisions with the brand since that point have continued to baffle me. They shuttered Japan Studio and are now selling a $200 wi-fi only tablet for remote play. I’ll be shocked if PlayStation still exists in the 2030s.

When gtx 1070s launched for like 350 bucks and you could build an awesome pc for like 600 dollars if you priced it out like a non-idiot. A gtx 1070 will still hit 1080p 60fps on like high settings while then playstation 5 targets moronic adaptive resolution that looks good sometimes and like ass other times dropping to like 480p. Too bad the market is fully fricked now. Thankfully i bought an rtx 2080 on sale for 700 bucks on release, undervolted to hit the same stock clock speeds and it runs at like 58c under full load. Its got so many peak performance hours. Easily pushing 25-30k hours over the last 5 years and ive only replaced the TIM once because evga fricked that up during manufacturing. Not a single hickup or fricked up noise.
Take the undervolt pill. Its more important than overclocking because frick dropping frames when it hits 70c. There is no point to overclocking cards anymore when they come jqcked up on mountain dew and cocaine. Settle them down a bit and they run better and cooler.
