I thought @ ps3 it was over. All the games were just slightly better PS2 or xbox games nothing outstanding. Nothing beats the days of 2D to 3D jump in videogaming.
We won't be getting that feeling again until serious VR and EEG tech comes.
Interactive cinematic experiences have moved past what juvenile shlock like Twisted Metal has to offer. I'm glad this series is left in the dustbin of history. We need more The Last of Us and Horizon and less Twisted Metal.
FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY NINE US DOLLAHS
PS3 may have gotten leverage thanks to the Red Ring of Death on the Xbox 360, but it never had the staying power the 360 had in terms of the first-party line up and even started the cinematic hell we're in now, albeit with more earnesty. Then Don Mattrick fricked up Xbox One's launch, Sony did their "epic zinger" on used games, and suddenly with the PS4 and 5 their arrogance shot completely and utterly through the roof while gradually phasing out the Japanese devs.
In a way, everything wrong with Sony and Playstation is because of everything wrong with Microsoft and Xbox.
With PSP. It was over once Killzone 2, Motorstorm and getaway 3 were fakes/downgraded/cancelled. PS4 was the worst console of all time untill the PS5 dethroned it.
Diagusting company. They are the antithesis of good games. Every good game they have made they ruined.
Not just Playstation in general, but Sony as a whole. The PS2 era. DRM rootkits in movies and CDs. Not porting most of their games to PC. Having consoles so weak they frequently break down and can't read discs.
When Sony became an American company, abandoned the Japanese market, closed Japan studio and tried to appeal to the west. It became mainstream and goyslop.
PS3 was a small start, after PS4 it was essentially over
this
PS3 burned me out so much I swore off Sony consoles forever.
When they started adding analog sticks to their gamepads
imagine the smell of those 20+ year old baggies
near the end of the PS2 era
The release date of the Last of Us.
after they stopped releasing games with e-girls
yeah
When Xbox stopped competing.
PS3.
When they absorbed Psygnosis into the larger Sony whole.

tell me single PS3 game that was better than PS2 game
That's what I was saying, ps3 was the point of failure.
3D -> HD was a much bigger jump than 2D -> 3D. not graphically, but culturally, and not in a good way
Sony has a habit of dropping IPs like a hot potato.

it's not really that playstation declined, it's just that the industry matured and PC gaming became ubiquitous
While PS3 had a slow start, I'd argue 4 actively dugged their hole.
Sony running the 8th gen basically unopposed blew their hubris out of proportion
