>I'm a loner by nature, I do most of everything alone, when I'm grocery shopping I'm not having a conversation with my Fly and Power teammates >he says this in response to a game that literally revolves around teams
Do I really want to keep reading this garbo?
sonic heroes would've been good if instead of porting it to everything they just focused on a gamecube port because sonic was doing really well on nintendo stuff at the time and only had 2, maybe 3 teams max that were more fleshed out
fpbp
Sonic went to shit the minute Sega left the hardware industry because Sonic stopped being "this game better be fricking good because it's one of our flagship titles" and started being "it's going to be a multiplat game and people will buy it anyway because of brand recognition, just shit whatever out"
Mania is literally the only good Sonic game to come out between SA2 and present day and I say that completely genuinely. Generations is the closest to being good but even then it suffers way too much from awkward 2D sections, poor Classic Sonic implementation, and hallway boost segments
Saturn days because of not making a game then. That they didn't get in on the 5th gen platforming days meant they had no relevant experience to make a good 6th gen game, and so on.
Sonic Adventure 2 but Sonic Heroes was the first bad one. SA2 isn't a bad game but you can see how the series and the people who made it would make bad games.
Sa1 and 2’s jank could be excused with them being relatively early into 3d gaming still getting hang of sonic in 3d. Heroes came out in 2003 and somehow felt more unpolished than the Dreamcast games
objectively it's sonic heroes even if its a cool game conceptually. it's this game that completely detached sonic from the og genesis games. it's this game that made sonic games about having tons of characters for no reason besides them being marketable and had the team bullshit that plagues the series to this day that means they constantly need to add more and more characters, it's this game where sonic games started to become super buggy jank piece of shit instead of just kind of fricked up like the og Dreamcast versions of adventure. everything people complain about sonic games for in the coming decade all tie back to this game
should've used shadow's controls >left face button is normal attack >right face button is interact / alternate attack >top face button is special move (team blast, chaos control, etc) >character switching is done with shoulder buttons
frick naka's one-button autism, it ruined balan wonderworld
Finished Frontiers Final Horizons and it just made me more hopeful we'll get a revolutionary Sonic Adventure 3 next.
They clearly were testing the waters for the other playstyles in this engine. If they just take this base structure and make some real levels and story routes for all the characters we could achieve true Sonic renaissance.
Also Eggman MUST have a route and Sage MUST be very present in it.
Also, they have a perfect setup for cringekino by making Sonic.EXE real in the next game.
This game literally had Sonic encounter cyberspace corruption that made him look a bit fricked up in the last moment of him using it's full potential, and he plowed it into a cosmic being representing "The End".
Have those two concepts fuse by plot BS a la Dark Samus and give us a toned down Sonic.EXE villain for SA3 as the ultimate sign of fandom love.
Listen, I'm sure this one wont totally eventually turn to the heroes side in one way or another.
I mean, it'd be more like Metal Sonic than anything else. It'd be a fascimile of Sonic and his power but driven by The End or some remnant of it which could make it an actual threat.
Hell, maybe it doesn't even fight Sonic. Could be a perfect villain for a Tails or Eggman Story if it goes full Sonic Adventure. Would even fit more into it being a love letter to Sonic.EXE stuff in that case.
Your image. >Tossed out the SA1/2 engine, which is to this day regarded as the best 3d sonic implementation by far >Babyfied everything for no reason, even team dark is laughably easy >Most the characters feel extremely flanderized, start of knuckles being a moron >Retconned shadows sacrifice from SA2, the only moment in the entire franchise with an ounce of weight.
I feel like the second they said they didn't like classic Sonic anymore is when it died
The direction Sonic took is what Naka and Maekawa wanted, but not want Iizuka, Oshima and Yasahara wanted. While the later two left SEGA, Iizuka was always the "yes man" guy and just made Sonic games in hopes the final product was still beloved, but even he knew most of the games were shit. It's the only reason why he was the reason Taxman was hired to make ports of CD, 1 and 2, and entrusted to make Mania and inspire Superstars, not anyone else at SEGA.
As far as I'm concerned the decline of Sonic was from day one, because the people that worked on him had different ideals of what he should be. Oshima wanted a more Ghibli fantasy direction CD/OVA had, Naka wanted DBZ ripoffslop and now Kishimoto just wants to make anything Nintendo makes but slap Sonic on top. No one at SEGA wants "Sonic". They want their headcanon to be Sonic. The only issue is Oshima is the only person responicle in creating Sonic himself so as far as I'm concerned his ideals are the most Sonic coded.
sonic went to shit the second he went full 3D
end of story as much as I love the pure wapanese anime 90s stylization and bad dialogue
the games suck the controls and physics are garbage
You posted it.

Yes, the parts about the gameplay are absolutely correct.
It shouldn't have revolved around teams.

Growing up is realizing tnat I never hated Shadow I just don't like how misused he is. Same with Knuckles.
When it went 3D
And yes, I am a Classic puristCHAD
>Heroes was best selling Sonic Game until Frontiers
Welp at least you tried
>what the frick is a Mania
>PS2 owners (the largest market of that gen) got access to Sonic

anything past Green Hill Zone
Saturn days because of not making a game then. That they didn't get in on the 5th gen platforming days meant they had no relevant experience to make a good 6th gen game, and so on.
Right after Sonic adventure 2
this. I remember being hyped for heroes and shadow and both sucked ASS
Sonic Adventure 2 but Sonic Heroes was the first bad one. SA2 isn't a bad game but you can see how the series and the people who made it would make bad games.
Sonic CD.
Heroes
Generations, because as good as that game was, at least Colors prior to it had entirely original ideas.
It was a mod of Unleashed, and the original ideas it did have were not good ones.
Colors' only good idea was the Kamen Rider shit.

1995
Sonic 1
Heroes because it started the trend of scrapping everything that came before for no reason.
SA1. I love SA1, but it was where they started stumbling.
CUTE KITTY I WANT TO SLEEP AND CUDDLE WITH HER! MEOW!

Just what we need, another sonic rival

Sounds cringe and shit. Just use Metal Sonic
Metal Sonic is old and busted. He had his chance at least twice and fricked up.
Need new hotness.
Pipe down moron. It's just blue Fleetway Super Sonic. Keep your homosexual fanfiction in the trash where it belongs.

Heroes. Shadow falling to Earth at the end of Adventure 2 was symbolic of the peak and immediate meteoric decline of Sonic.
Rad Mobile
This "disposable" mentality Sonicpablos have is really pathetic and sad.
