Stormblood wasn't my flavour at all but I had heard how great Shadowbringers was so kept the faith and was rewarded with in my opinion the best mmo story and one of the best game stories I've had for years.

Depends on what you want. For physical melee dps reaper or sam is a good choice, for tanking Gnb is gun but Warrior is the best if you also want to help with dps

GNB unlocks at 60, RPR at 70 iirc. Both are good, but for opposite reasons ironically. GNB adds a much needed fun, spammy tank and RPR adds a slower, more methodical dps with really nice animations and utility.
Also yeah that banquet for titan shit needs to just be removed. The goal should be to get players through ARR as fast as possible while still introducing the characters enough.
Dragoon for HW you will get extra dialogue from one of the characters if you do, monk or dancer for Stormblood, Darknight for Shadowbringers, Reaper and or Paladin for Endwalker
Endwalker ending was so satisfactory that for the first time i feel like i "beat" an MMO and could quit without the fear of missing out on new content that could be good or shit

Those things alone aren't worth a sub and they definitely aren't a significant time investment.

I decided it wasn't worth the sub or more importantly my time anymore. I'm a lot happier for it.
I've spent almost 3k hours in the game so far and that shit has NEVER happend to me, at worst it's just some guy that starts spergging out, shuts up then leaves or gets told off by the rest of the group for being a sperg.
This has to be a US thing since the only horror stories I've heard from FC mates and friends on discord here in EU, is about a guy being bad, freaking out in chat and then either getting kicked or leaving while trying to take another partymember down with them.
It's like people are just incapable of self regulating and learning to see red flags so large that they might aswell block out the sun both ingame and out of game.
Protip, if the party info or name says anything about "chill raid" or "know strats" without having a cleared req, then you know for a fact either the guy that is party leader or one of the homosexuals he attracts while making the group is going to be a massive autist. Another even BIGGER red flag is if any lingo (at all) is used from the parse community regardless of what the party is doing, if you se anything about "logs" anywhere even tangetal to the party, you stay as far away as possible from the leader and all of the people who decided to join, it shouldn't be hard, they make up about 1% of the playerbase

It's 4 submarines per FC and yeah, I farm extravagant accessories that you can sell to NPCs, varies from 8k to 36k a single piece, no marketboard bullshit. I love it because I don't have to deal with botters anymore.

XIV has always had the issue of the breath of it's content only coming into it's own in the latter half of the expansion. Before field exploration or deep dungeon it's sparse. Obviously Criterion is meant to help alleviate this.
But the game is not barren, you're just pointing at all the other content and saying "doesn't count".
Frick, even within raiding: have you done all the fights in the game? Cleared all four Ults? Every raid tier, from Coils to Panda? All the Extremes?

At Level 17, after 2 days of playing, when I realized neither the ARCHER nor the SUMMONER have pets.

Tickrate is shit and pet AI (though mostly mitigated now) is shit. The main issue was that pets would often ghost abilities or play them late for various reasons.
If you want to play pokemon the only substitute is Verminion and the upcoming Island Sanctuary.
Pet AI is still shit and the reason its "mitigated" its because they cut all the pets. SCH is the only pet job and the fairty STILL eats actions and acts like a moron.
Vermilion is a joke nobody knows what the sanctuary will be.
But from what they showed, your minions will have no effect on it except being there
I fully expect them to cut down on SCH's pet actions over time purely because they've done it again for every other class and it's still jank to the point that there's no way they haven't known this and I'm gonna be sad when they do it because SCH as it is right now is my favorite healer
Pet jobs could still work as limited jobs where the entire gimmick is that whatever you are controlling has a mind of it's own. They could probably turn their shitty AI and netcode into a feature instead of a burden if they sell it well enough

I just don't get how people stick to these sorts of games. I guess I can understand it with women and the whole virtual house and social sim thing. But everything else just seems more fun to do or a better use of time.
Like I've got a friend who gets over 60 hours a week into XIV and when I ask him what he's been doing it's usually some sort of grinding an activity he doesn't like playing or him saying he's glad he'll never have to play something ever again after getting the costume or achievement. I don't think I've ever heard him say he's having fun unless it's defensively against someone joking about him paying to work for free.
When I had 200 hours of game time and still couldn't progress the MSQ because it's more boring than watching my sperm evaporate. I kept doing the god awful pvp arena and then they just, out of nowhere, made it EVEN WORSE. That was the call.

Genshin Impact I hate the character designs but actually had strong gameplay, at least it felt impactful. Using an archer girl you do all these impressive acrobatics and your arrows feel solid, the hits landed on the enemies can be felt and there's tons of combat mechanics from what I glean. Even WoW lich king felt a bit more solid and brutal in its combat, attacks had more weight.
I guess FFXIV is more so about buff / debuff and cycling spells in the right order.

I find right around 60 as a relatively new player, by then a lot of classes start to get their more advanced abilities and rotations and things open up for the majority. Depends on the class though, some classes are still lagging at that point like PLD from my experience. For me, 60 was right around when BLM became my favorite class.
FFXIV is about maintaining a strict rotation while performing "dances" reacting to boss ability sequences. That never changes. The main difficulty progression has little to do with your job and more with the DDR difficulty level of the boss.
I do like that I guess, it'll get better with more options and more players. I suspect that up to level 60 I won't be needing any teams though
