I fricking dare you to name a stronger opening patch to any expansion. Even if you only play for the first 2 months it will be some of the best 2 months you'll ever experience in wow.
Also boomers can cope but Cata class design is better than Wrath.
They should probably release the pre-nerf heroics as mythic dungeons and take them off the group finder. They were fun as frick with a competent guild group but I could see how people stuck in pug world would have a miserable time because I sure as frick did the one and only time I ever joined a group of non-guildies.
They will just make them affix dungeons like Wrath if anything.

The only thing really wrong with Cata at launch was they totally fricked up the 10 man raid scaling which sucked for those guys but I was in a real guild so I was having fun.
Actually I just thought of one thing that actually did affect me: Archaeology sucked ass and I spent ten thousand attempts trying to get that fricking sword and never found it.

The current playerbase is extremely delusional and thinks sweating is what made the game popular, when it's the exact opposite. The whole modern endgame is based around being as sweaty as possible. I can't imagine why its dying, what a mystery
Class design is better for exactly one class, blood DK, because it becomes a fully functional tank with proper threat values on more than one fricking ability.
First patch of Cata before heroics nerf was extremely good. If Cata had the launch window difficulty the entire expansion it would have been the best version of the game without a doubt.

Cata was shit on because healer balance in the first patch was completely bunk, as it was the patch Spirit was removed in, and because of 14 months of Dragon Soul.
Classic will launch on 4.3 balance, which is god tier, and Dragon Soul will not be current for nearly as long. A Classic release takes cata from a 4/10 and turns it into a 7/10 based purely on the way it releases.

I haven't played retail in a while but they never added back in old Vanilla areas did they? The first phasing zone I remember them adding was Blasted Lands which just took it from Cata era to WoD era. You can't do that kind of zone by zone phasing with Vanilla and Cata because the Vanilla zones are literally incomplete in a lot of places and flying mounts would break it. That's why they did the Cata overhaul in the first place.

I never played MOP because I think the whole China and panda's thing is gay as frick. But I keep hearing it actually pretty good despite all the daily's.

It's the best of the WoW 2 trilogy. Every class is enjoyable but there's still some questionable design choices (why can shamans cleanse magic but not poison/disease now? where the frick are my totems BLIZZARD)
Daily spam was only an issue when the expansion first launched since Blizzard rushed it out the door after Cataclysm failed hard. Pandaren have cool lore with the Shado-Pan. Ignore the gays whining about china and furries.

Dailies weren't even bad, I don't know why people paid to play MoP and then complained about being given content to do in exchange for their money. Both Cata and WoD had frickall to do past paying $15 for four (4) gacha rolls for loot a month.

Someone should implant explosives in every Blizzard employee and tell them to make an EXPANSION to wrath that isn’t a fricking REDO instead. Nothing can be removed, no skills or talents or systems, only add new shit and said new shit WILL CARRY ON INTO THE FOLLOWING EXPANSIONS FOREVER. You add flying, we have flying FOREVER, EVERYWHERE FROM NOW ON. You add a fricking legendary ANYTHING you level that expansion, it works FOREVER, EVERYWHERE, EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. If you can’t think of something to give players forever, you shouldn’t be working on a motherfricking MMO.

T11 and 12 raiding was very good if you had a solid raiding group, same thing with 5mans if you ran with friends. Otherwise it was miserable in pugs and non-dungeon and raid content was borderline absent. Dragon Soul Patch was awful and it lasted a year, making things even worse.
Around this time PvP became even more irrelevant as part of the player base since other games began popping up around the 2011 time that did a better job than any MMO PvP system could offer
I used to think cata was when it all went to shit, because i thought it was when they removed trees n shit.
but it wasnt. and its when they added my favorite race, worgen. and while the destruction of the original levelling content made me mad back in the day, it was actually kind of ballsy and interesting.

Gilneas is a wasted zone you never go back to, the voice acting is fricking bad, the worgen models are awful especially the female, and they never got the boar mount.

True which is why I hated Cata and unsubbed in WoD. MoP had cool shit like the world bosses, mini bosses for the dino mounts, and later the dino and thunder island. Timeless Isle too I guess but I didn't enjoy it too much.
I'd rather have fake content than no content. Besides, the story driven dailies in MoP were genuinely good and had plenty of potential - up until they got ripped out of the game because people wouldn't stop crying about being given chores to do in a game that has been about completing the list of chores you were given by ! NPCs since day/level 1. Because of them we even got garrisons instead which is even faker content.

I think a small pool of abilities is fine and its even ok if an entire rotation can be done with a castsequence macro if the player wants to do it.

I like Cata but I'll go ahead and say that if you're not already playing in Wrath and in a real guild, don't fricking bother. You will not have any fun without already being part of a tight group of players who don't suck.
i can't speak for anyone else but i know in my wrath guild, we've been together since vanilla classic and almost no one is planning on sticking around for cata. They mostly all consider wrath to be "the end" of "classic".

I loved PvP in cata and it was the only xpac where I did the 5 man hero achievements for the drake. that was very enjoyable too
Never, because I dropped WoW after WotLK. I played a private server and saw that cata fricked up all the vanilla zones and noped the frick out in under an hour and never played the game again. Love the music and the art style and memories of the game however.
