With the dodge and stamina mechanics, the story bring found and not explained, the churches and ruins architecture, and summons, I'd argue that palworld has stepped into the best soulslike
>When did you realize that Dark Souls 2 was the best Souls game?
implying I ever thought otherwise
not even joking while ds3 has the best bosses and ds1 the best world I find myself replaying ds2 more often
>least linear so you can play how you want and assemble the basic skeleton of your build quickly >best weapon and magic balance >covenants it's fun to join and engage with evrry time like Bellkeepers, Ratbros and Reds/Blues

Elden ring is the full realization of the potential of Dark Souls II. The sewers from leyndell are basically half of the gutter, it's crazy how all their work inspired elden ring
Like hell it is. Elden Ring has DS3's: >overly spacious dungeons with zero hazards or mechanics and inconsequential mobs >general lack of purpose for dungeons because all the effort went into 1v1 boss encounters and making L2s flashy and overpowered >big empty arenas for aggressively mobile bosses >infinite stamina that makes powerstancing completely imbalanced >arbitrary restrictions on infusions and buffing >sorry excuse of a nexus ripoff that is even less memorable than before >pointless NG+ mode
Both DS3 and ER have tons of influence from DS2, especially in terms of core mechanics and balance changes.
Yui Tanimura, the DS2 was director, worked alongside Miyazaki on both these games as co-director.
Tons of ideas got ported over nearly 1:1 because they worked very well:
>estus shard/golden seed system >midroll up to 70% weight >rolling in any direction while locked on >effigy/ember/rune arc useable at any time and get HP back to max or get stat boost via great rune effects >hit stun limit in PvP to prevent infinite stunlocks >casting magic also consumes stamina to limit perpetual spam >backstabs have 2 way confirmation via a grab animation >guardbreak on a blocking enemy allows for a riposte >jumping attacks on all weapons unpariable >ultra/colossal weapons unpariable when 2H, except rolling/running attacks >reasonable poise/hyperarmor levels that allowed for strategic trades but not facetanking endgame bosses >parry frames active at the apex of the shield swing, not instantly at the start >4 ring slots so you can still have some interesting synergies and use of niche effects instead of having 90% of players just put on Havel's ring and Ring of Favor >blue sentinels to save hosts from invaders >limited respec >power stancing with any 2 weapons of the same class (only ER) >rolling in poison/rot covers you and build up the status (only ER) >rolling in water raises fire def by 20% and lowers lightning def by 20% (only ER)
DS2 is a bit outdated.
I've played 500h of DS2 and only 110h of ER but I would never really go back to DS2 because the multiplayer is gone. I might replay ER at some point though.
For me? I enjoyed my time with DS2 a lot more than with ER. Despite that, I think ER is better just because of the hitboxes and the controls. So it depends on if you want my subjective opinion or my more objective one
Souls 2 is my personal favorite mostly because its the easiest of the series and seems the most fair when it comes to boss fights (with the exception of the optional ones) and the most coherent when it comes to a story involving the King and the war with the giants that's not 75% fan conjecture. Love for Souls 1 is mostly nostalgia and if it never got out and Miyazaki was not involved with 2, most people would be nostalgically sucking it's dick too. 2 most likely excels because Miyazaki had little to nothing to do with it. 2 Has a lot less of "Oh, great. This part." parts to it than 1 and 3 does.
I miss 2's straightforwardness in ER. Marika/greater will/two fingers is the most incomprehensible dynamic across all these games and even after beating the game it remains unclear just what they do/did or what their motivation is.
Earlier this year actually. I found a fricking PS4 beside the garbage and I took it home, cleaned it up, and it works perfectly. I got The Fromsoft Suite (minus AC because I want to play that on PC first) and decided to run them all in order. DS1, classic. DS2 is definitely the most "Video Gsmes" out of the bunch. DS3 was so bad I couldn't finish it. Bloodborne is still 11/10, and I'm still chipping away through this Elden Ring playthrough.
Different doesn't mean it's worse. You just have to adjust the way you play.
Personally I liked the roll animation in DS2 much more than in DS1 or DS3, felt a lot more weighty
>a broken deadzone and dogshit controls doesn't mean it controls worse than other souls games
Demon's Souls, their first game controls better
It's not only bad but complete dogshit
yeah and the influence on duels was amazing
if someone came close to you you couldn't just keep swinging and had to move
well you had to do that in DS1 as well but it was to avoid lagstabs which kinda ruined the feel of the battle
DS2 haters have to constantly make threads to cope with the fact DS2 exists and DS3 made so many references to DS2 with items, NPCs, enemies, and even a DS2 location you revisit.
DS2 is canon in the DS universe and it makes these people seethe. You cant ignore the game

Does the Palworld dodge even have iframes
I think it does
DaS > BB > DeS > ER >> DaS 3 > DaS 2
DeS>DS>Se=BB>DS3>>>>ER>DS2
you are both wrong it's actually
DeS < DS3 < BB < DS1 < ER = DS2
When I first beat the whole game. And then again when Dark Souls 3 failed to surpass.
Palworld is the best Souls game
honestly, it was when Dark Souls 3 came out and was just a Dark Souls 1 clone with shinier metal...
>When did you realize that Dark Souls 2 was the best Souls game?
implying I ever thought otherwise
not even joking while ds3 has the best bosses and ds1 the best world I find myself replaying ds2 more often
Why is DS2 so replayable
>least linear so you can play how you want and assemble the basic skeleton of your build quickly
>best weapon and magic balance
>covenants it's fun to join and engage with evrry time like Bellkeepers, Ratbros and Reds/Blues
yeah basically this
When I kept coming back to make funny builds that actually worked well in both pve and pvp
Soul Memory
When I developed brain damage
Demon's Souls is my favourite
after playing 3 and realizing how much of a soulless clone it was i began to appreciate the uniqueness of 2 much more
What is better: DS2 or Elder Rangz?
Dark Souls 2
ER only merit is the boss fights which are spread thinly on a over-bloated map
Elder Rangz is literally DS2 2
Elden ring is the full realization of the potential of Dark Souls II. The sewers from leyndell are basically half of the gutter, it's crazy how all their work inspired elden ring

Cope.

>hit stun limit in PvP to prevent infinite stunlocks
>casting magic also consumes stamina to limit perpetual spam
>backstabs have 2 way confirmation via a grab animation
>guardbreak on a blocking enemy allows for a riposte
>jumping attacks on all weapons unpariable
>ultra/colossal weapons unpariable when 2H, except rolling/running attacks
>reasonable poise/hyperarmor levels that allowed for strategic trades but not facetanking endgame bosses
>parry frames active at the apex of the shield swing, not instantly at the start
>4 ring slots so you can still have some interesting synergies and use of niche effects instead of having 90% of players just put on Havel's ring and Ring of Favor
>blue sentinels to save hosts from invaders
>limited respec
>power stancing with any 2 weapons of the same class (only ER)
>rolling in poison/rot covers you and build up the status (only ER)

when I played it on my ps3 on release day
>he never beat horsefrick valley

When i realized it had 0 shitty swamps.
day 1. to this day im still baffled by all the hate it gets
Probably the best game ever made?
The moment I stepped out of the tutorial area into Majula I knew this was going to be kino
>ds2
YUCK!! I'd rather play a game that doesn't control like absolute garbage
Different doesn't mean it's worse. You just have to adjust the way you play.

Sad we got his shield but not his sword in DS3
miyazaki hates str gays , didn't you know ?

I don't care whether it's canon or not, I just think it's shit lol
