When is it being announced???

Nintendo has got to announce it soon. After that atrocious game awards they have the biggest advantage.
>GTA releasing in 2025
>Barely any AAA coming out in 2024
>Sony and Microsoft have nothing remotely as popular for next year even if they spend a frick ton of money
Even if their launch title is a shitty Pokemon game and a tech demo, gaming is so shit next year that Nintendo has the advantage with the next Switch. The question is... when the FRICK is it going to be announced? My bet is in March

Power makes no difference, modern AAA games are the worst trash out of California or Sweet Baby Inco consultant pandering trash. If you think about it, neither PS5 or Xbox Series have standout must have games 3 years in because of how bad modern game devs have gotten. You aren't owed a Switch 2, you're owed good games. And there's plenty of those on the Switch today.

Go jerk off to a troony in a Californian game. I'm not at all pleased with what's out there on current gen consoles and Switch 2 getting ports of these games won't change the landscape. Or Switch 2 releasing without any games just to appease you.

90% of the games shown off are missing the Switch. They came out looking the weakest, even Xbox looked better because they excluded the multiplat releases from the games they were showing. The big reveal was the MonHun trailer if you're a weeb, that's missing the Switch. Atlus' games too. The Switch is at the end of it's life, 3rd party devs are dropping support unless it's a 2d game.

I'm fairly certain that these Japanese games would appear on the Switch successor anyway. We don't hear of anything yet as to prevent another 'DQ11 on NX' situation back in 2016.

Although I will never find not funny these Japanese third-parties are refusing to move on from a begone era where Playstation was their hometurf. They have at least learned their lesson with PC, wish they would do the same with Nintendo.

    >barely any AAA games coming out in 2024

Seems like this means Nintendo is free to keep dominating. The question is, will Switch 2 be able to play GTA VI? If so you probably want it by release of it. Steam Deck / Asus handheld is getting to be $300-400. If Nintendo can get that hardware for $350 they’d be in good shape for AAA games.

Also has Mario Kart 8 reached a saturation point? It’s been a continuous best seller. MK9 should be a launch game and will basically be sold with every Switch 2. I’m thinking Metroid Prime 4 comes out by holiday time for the year Switch 2 launches, as that should be a graphical showcase. Will it be backwards compatible? Otherwise you get to milk a Zelda port at the minimum

      >The question is, will Switch 2 be able to play GTA VI?
No, if Rockstar was doing a last gen port it would be out on ps4 as well.

        Like MK1?
Also, you're dumb if you think 2.5TF 2023 device is similar in power to 1.8TF 2013 device.
PS4 is so old it doesn't even support single precision floating point calculations, not to mention recent graphics tech like variable rate shading, or mesh shaders. Switch 2 will also have a much, much better CPU, faster storage, dedicated file decompression engine, more RAM and DLSS. It will be better in every single way.
        It won't be a souped up PS4, but a cut down PS5.

GTA VI has to run on the Xbox Series S so it will probably run on the Switch 2 as well.

That's not necessarily true, we saw Microsoft drop their parity clause for Larian. It could run on the Series S via XCloud for all we know.

The biggest difference between last gen consoles and new gen is not the graphical power because devs can always lower poly count and tweak settings to make it run, the real difference is that new consoles have SSDs instead of hard drives, so they can change scenarios and load stuff a lot faster than normal

Metroid is not a consistent million selling franchise. They are not going to lock Prime 4 into Switch exclusively. They didn't do that with Zelda and that was on the Wii U and GameCube both underperforming consoles.

$1000+ iphones are struggling to run RE4R, a game on the Xbox One. There is 0 chance the Switch 2 is $350, the price of the current OLED. Nintendo being "based" is not a thing now, they still haven't dropped the price of the Switch. Iwata is gone, they put a business major in charge(look at how Jim Ryan ruined Sony), and they have 0 competition as a handheld/hybrid console.

Hell, they're focusing on making theme parks and they're making a live action Zelda move in collaboration with Sony. The Iwata error is over, you can't go on expecting more of the same when we still don't even have a Nintendo Selects line. It's becoming a premium product, it will get a premium price.

You seemed to way overblow the price point comment.
        >$1000 iPhone
        This means literally nothing.

How much do you think the new switch will cost?

$450-$500 for the premium model. $400 for whatever they do with a lesser model. I could maybe see $350 for a lesser model if they go all digital with it or have it be like the Lite without a dock.

iPhone being $1000+ is because it's a phone. You're fricking moronic if you think Nintendo is going to price themselves out of their market

It doesn't matter what they charge, it will be scalped for 2 years regardless. They could price drop it after 2 years once the supply outweighs the demand to be more affordable to kids. Look at the GPU market and then look at the PS5 situation and then compare it to every Nintendo console getting scalped in the past, the Switch getting scalped 3 separate times no less(Launch, ACNH release during the pandemic, OLED).

It does matter what they charge. Nintendies will flat out not buy the shit if it is priced that high. The shit isn't going to be on the same level as a PS5 in performance, and it doesn't need to be because of DLSS. You have no fricking clue what you're evening talking about, bringing up iPhone and fricking scalpers. God damn moron

              Anonymous

Look, the reason I was "overblowing the price point" is because it shows that even right now Nintendo is overcharging for their products. The default Switch should not be $300, the PS5 and Series X were $350 recently and the Series X even included Diablo 4, a $70 game at that price point. The Series S often drops to $200 too. The fact that the Switch OLED was the exact same price as those next gen consoles is all you need to know about the current Nintendo.

Games that would have been 3DS releases like the SMRPG remake are a full $60 instead of $40 too. It's a premium device now with premium games, which is why they sold 20 million copies of TotK at $70. A same generation price increase. If you can't see the overwhelming greed coming out from Nintendo right now and expect them to release it at a fair price, then you're missing the forest for the trees. Worst case scenario they pull a 3DS and drop the price after release if it doesn't do well initially. The 3DS did very well by the end of it's life despite the rocky start due to the price point.

Why did you spaz out saying it was a premium product when I said $300-400? Having a base version more expensive than Steam Deck ($400) would be suicide. There may not have been a price cut, but they had Switch Lite. Having a $200-300 system as a loss leader for kids in order to sell hundreds of dollars of software would make sense no matter what.

Because $300 is unrealistic. Even $350 is unrealistic in my opinion, but I can see them offering a heavy discount for a digital only device like they're doing with the voucher system giving you a hefty discount on games.

              >Having a base version more expensive than Steam Deck ($400) would be suicide
Very different target markets and brand name means a lot. That's why the Deck is doing better than all the UMPCs that are stronger than it.

            >
You completely misunderstand the point of nintendo. These conversations have been going on for like 20 years:
People overhype console --> ends up being weaker than the fake leaks/hype --> console releases to either success/failure --> inevitable disappointment
Normies are the audience for video game consoles. Miyamoto got pissed that the Wii was labelled as a toy for geriatrics and children and overpriced the already underpowered Wii U and 3DS at launch and made it launch with shitty ports of ""mature"" games.
People buy Nintendo consoles because the concepts are intriguing and beneficial to their lifestyles. They're cheap, their games are recognizable, and no actual competitor is doing what they are doing (Do you really think handheld pcs would actually be as good as they are without the switch's success)
The console at MAX will be 350 and I HIGHLY doubt they're doing two SKU's at launch (unless its lcd/oled difference) because its what killed the Wii U. Do you really think at a time where PS/Microsoft are raising the prices of their expensive to produce consoles because of inflation that Nintendo would release a product comparable to price to theirs?? Inflation is already shit and actually worse in Japan. We have it good here. Give up any fricking expectations of a 400 dollar "powerful console". That's not Nintendo anymore and they aren't doing it.

              >They're cheap,
Not anymore. As I stated in my above post, the OLED over Black Friday was the same price as a PS5 and Series X. The Series X coming with a more expensive game than the Smash/Mario Kart bundles as well. The Series S goes on sale for the same price as the Switch Lite too, the price is no longer cheaper and it's still flying off the shelf nearly 7 years alter without a single price drop. Hell, the OLED marked a price increase and that was before inflation really kicked into high gear and that's selling well too so the Switch 2 would easily fly off the shelf for $400 even without scalpers trying to flip them for years. People were buying $700-$1000 PS5s at launch due to scalpers and the GPU market was even worse. Nvidia GPUs are STILL overpriced right now and that's without scalpers, they cost more than the launch MSRP because the companies realized consumers will pay more for them.

              >and I HIGHLY doubt they're doing two SKU's at launch
Microsoft and Sony did it to push all digital. As I mentioned in the previous post, Nintendo is pushing consumers towards all digital too even right now with the voucher system. It's not unlikely that they release a cheaper digital only model at launch. Casuals have been buying digital regardless like on Xbox and Playstation, they don't care if they lose access to physical games if there's an upfront discount and that cheap digital only model has been the only thing keeping Microsoft relevant. The skew is 75% S to 25% X. It's not about saving money on parts either, it's about locking people into their ecosystem and forcing them to pay the prices that they set and killing used games(which cost them sales).

              >Give up any fricking expectations of a 400 dollar "powerful console".
It doesn't have to be "powerful" because it's $400. It could just be them overcharging for the product because people will buy it at that price. Which they are doing with all of their current Switch models, this is not a stretch.

Dude what the frick are you talking about here?? The Series X and PS5s during black friday were still 500 bucks. The only reason there were deals for some of the PS5s like at target is because sony was trying to phase out the model they aren't even producing anymore!! Otherwise the PS5 Spider Man bundle was in fact 500! I fricking bought one! Not sure about Xbox but Microsoft has infinite money and can do whatever. You're pulling shit out of your ass here. No fricking Switch was the same price as most PS5/Series X. Nintendo isn't going to push digital because they manufacture cartridges for a portable system and most of their game sales still come from physical sales in comparison to the other two consumers. You're once again pulling shit out of your ass.

Walmart had the Series X for $350 this past week. Amusingly there were 2 versions, 1 with Diablo 4 and 1 without it and they were the exact same price.

                >No fricking Switch was the same price as most PS5/Series X.
Target had $350 PS5s, Walmart had $350 Series X consoles. They were the same price.

                >Nintendo isn't going to push digital because they manufacture cartridges for a portable system and most of their game sales still come from physical sales in comparison to the other two consumers.
Let me ask you this. How many third party publishers do you really think are going to opt into that system when their current games are 50-100gb on next gen consoles? The cost is too great for publishers to opt into paying that much for a cartridge when even right now most refuse to buy 32gb cartridges from Nintendo for Switch 1 games. Publishers will either go all digital like Doom Eternal on the Switch or put 4gb on the cartridge and make you download 70gb more, which third party publishers like EA are already doing on a smaller scale and making you download 30gb after putting 4gb on the cartridge. In that scenario, you might as well buy digital because the physical card holds you back more than anything if you need to insert it to play the game and the game is on your internal storage anyway.
