Problem with resident evil for me at least is it's never been amazing and I'm never treated it with such respect that others have. I find the original Silent Hill series to be a much more compelling horror franchise. Ignoring the graphics the fidelity and controls on the original games were stupid. For me it was a combination of Mass Effect 3, FRICK YOU featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series, and Street Fighter x Tekken. Maybe throw in Metroid Other M. But what made it particularly disgusting is that the journalists and press surrounding those games were not only giving a different message but were also talking shit on the general populace that was complaining about those games. I think the internet, specifically for video games as a medium, really killed the whole video games show with booth babes thing. With the pandemic on top, any gatherings are increasingly harder and expensive to organize and will be for a while until things settle down.
Think about it, why would you pay money to host such an event, pay for infrastructure, personnel, print advertisement material, travel costs, security, accommodation and so on when you can just throw a few videos on twitch.tv or youtube and achieve the same thing and not waste any money.
