        reddit doesn't like anime, moron.

No, they dislike the contents but do like the reach because they can use it to spread their propaganda. Thankfully, Japan's natural language barrier and racism keeps the propagandizing to a non-metastasizing level.

the premise is interesting and unique and hooks you in the first episode
its not trash chuuni eye candy or incel wish fulfillment.
its an actual story with underlying theme and message
the art is good (because it has a high budget) and while there is fan service, it's not distracting or pathetic like in most anime.

there is nothing wrong with anime being over the top and cool, or unapologetically horny, but theres an aspect of that which comes from a talented artist making something they genuinely love (one punch man, made in abyss respectively) and ticking off boxes on the profitable fetish checklist to make as much money as possible while spending as little as possible

anime is to AAA slop as manga is to the rest of the gaming industry
if it has an anime, it's because someone OK'd the ridiculous budget 2d animation costs.
so basically every anime that comes out tends to be like ubisoft slop. rarely you will get something like god of war which is still awful trash nobody should ever play, but it's really polished trash so normalgays think its the best shit ever (JJK, demon slayer, etc).
its not every year AAA releases an actually good video game, and in the same way it's not the every year the anime industry releases an actually good anime.

About a month ago. It's just a bit too far away to casually drive out to it, which also means it's been hard to convince other dudes to ride along and make it into a proper outing. Most of the clientele is either 50 year old men in the 80s corner, 9 year olds playing Tekken, or men my age being babysat by their girlfriends/wives, so sadly the option to play with randos isnt' really there either. Really, the only reason I kept going so often was to play and grab drinks with the 50-70 year olds in the pinball basement.

There's also a barcade that's much closer, but I only go there for a burger after work. The only cabinet worth mentioning there is Tekken 5, and the old men playing pinball are notoriously more grumpy.

A local mall tried to bring back LAN/PC cafe. It's a novel concept, but there's just not the market for it in America and it didn't last.
The few hanger on non-Gamestop game stores I've seen usually have small play rooms to rent and chill in with a classic system, assuming they don't get nigg'd to hard anyway.

        >A Lan huse isn't quit what I have in mind. It's focused on each player being isolated on their own station, not on socialization. I want something akin to, for example, a party revolving around a 4-player console party game but extend that to include singleplayer/PC games. People who aren't themselves playing being able to watch, root for, comment on etc. various games, and not just part games but singleplayer/PC games too. Different big screens which you can watch, including for singleplayer games etc.

Imagine a venue which has a LAN house area, for people who just want to play and not be bothered, and a more social area, in which you don't mind or even want people looking over your shoulder or even butting in on your game, whether it's an audience-friendly game like CS or Smash Bros or whatever, or a singleplayer game like, I don't know, Grim Fandango or Disco Elysium.

Though over the years the cabinets got removed except for Crazy Taxi which years after also got removed but The CT cabinet being all by it's lonesome in the very middle where you would get your tickets stuck with me for some reason.

The only arcade near me was at this local mall which I’m surprised is still open because it literally only has. 3 places open, a jonann fabrics, some veterans place and another insurance place. It used to have like k martt, Sears, like 8 different clothing store, 2 different book stores, J.C. Penney, radio shack, on cuee “later sam godey” a movie theater and aracde, then it started going down hill around 2002 once Kmarttt left. I think the arcade closed in 2009 or 10 and they were selling all their arcade cabinets for like ridiculously high prices. Had some good times there though eventhough it was small, dark smelled like burnt popcorn and BO and overcharged for tokens.

A couple months ago. There's one less than an hour away, but the collection is kind of odd. Something like 70% of the floor space is dedicated to VR "experiences" meant for large groups, food, go-karts, and token-sucking prize games, with another 15% for pinball machines and the remaining 15% for classic arcade stuff.
I guess that's what an arcade has to do to stay afloat these days, but still.

You've got it completely backwards, ironically.
White moms are so scared of Black personly behavior in places where there are none that it's become social taboo to let kids go out unsupervised in ANY context.
Thus, places children used to congregate became complete husks. That's why every arcade has to be catered to adults now, not because the games are old but because kids can't fricking go out.

Well, considering we're GETTING that behavior where there used to be none, is their fear unjustified?

            Anonymous

            NTA, but absolutely.
I grew up in the 80s and 90s, when crime was insane, but our parents let us roam the streets unsupervised, and we mostly turned out fine.
Gen Z kids grew up in the 00s and 10s, when there was barely any crime; but their parents still freaked out at the slightest possibility of harm, and most of those kids grew up super-sheltered.
We're seeing the consequences now; an entire generation is coming of age who need safe spaces and gladhandling because they've never had to face normal childhood and adolescent development. All they know is getting their every want catered to by those in authority; and when they don't get their way they throw tantrums and riot.
There's nothing worse for your children than letting them grow up sheltered.

              Anonymous

And even when they don't turn out entitled, they turn out horribly maladjusted. These are children who have had zero real chances for independence except MAYBE through devices or services their parent simply doesn't understand. Some get addicted to their phones because their phone is their only path to socialization their parent doesn't have total control over, some just wind up terribly dependent on their parents, some go through both at once.

                Anonymous

And then they go off to college or work and demand that those places act like parents too, and shield them from anything negative and punish anyone who disturbs them.

                Anonymous

No, and then they don't leave.
That's the real epidemic. Kids who grow up so sheltered they never had that teenage job to get them into the rhythm of work, never had their own possessions to teach them how to manage shit, they don't all go out and demand the world change to suit them. That's a loud minority. The majority are beaten down until they have no desire to live their own lives anymore, and will happily stay attached to their parents for life.

That arcade is amazing, but the owner is a scumbag. He hoarded every single candy cab he could get his hands on in the entire country so nobody else could enjoy one.

    There's a barcade that's a 5 minute walk from my house.
I went there a month or two ago. I didn't play any of the arcade games, but it did have an SNES with Super Mario World hooked to one of the TVs, played that for like 15 minutes then left.

    Last year in Tokyo.
Went to Japan and didn't want to miss the arcades. The only reason I don't say that it was my best arcade experience ever is because I am hopelessly nostalgic of my stereotypical childhood arcade sprees, but damn it got real close to topping it.
If any of you anons go to Tokyo, go to the arcades in Akihabara, atleast check out all the GiGO buildings if you can't go to all of them.

That's based, I went to a pinball convention a few years ago and there were so many awesome machines that you just never see nowadays.
Even the old shit from the 60s and 70s was still pretty fun.

Maybe, it's pretty chill so I'd love to check it out again, pinball machines are one of those things that you really CAN'T do without a machine of your own so it's always made more sense than your typical arcade machines, at least these days.
Kinda like those crazy rhythm games they have in Japan.

I don't get it, what's wrong with using a semicolon?

Semicolons are for linking two independent clauses; you misused it.

And that's what I did. A comma or a period wouldn't fit there.
            Great image BTW.

I can't wait to get high, go down to the arcade, find an old pinball machine in the corner, and pretend it's the 70s again.

That's why you use a period instead of a semicolon or comma. Or reformat your sentence so it fits.

It's been at least 18 years. I live near the largest one in the world, but it's mostly just retro games that can be emulated and some random rotating stuff. I wouldn't mind playing the Simpsons game for the 100th time though. That one's a banger.

I grew up in the countryside so I only rarely ever encountered arcade machines. usually there would be between 2 and 5 machines in the corner of a bowling alley or a pub if you were lucky.
I think the only place that I've ever been to that had enough machines to qualify as a real arcade was like 12-15 years ago or more. me and a buddy nearly finished that awesome Aliens light gun game.

Last Sunday. There's a great arcade about 20 minutes' walk from where I live, I go there almost weekly to play rhythm games and meet bros from the local community. There's over 160 machines from different time periods and genres, but my favorite has to be WACCA. The line for it is crazy sometimes.

yesterday i was at a bar with 40+ pinball tables, a few hundred feet from another bar/venue with the same owners and a handful of pinball tables, a block away from a coffee shop with several more pinball tables in the basement, and a mile south there's an arcade bar with lots of arcade video i don't particularly like and a dozen pinball tables, base model, but ten cent tokens on thursdays, and free in my case because i'm cute so people keep giving me their extra tokens faster than i can spend them, and most bartenders there don't charge me for mocktails. it would take me at least four (4) hours of uninterrupted play to spend $5 on tokens there.

there's a few other big arcades in the greater metropolitan area.
