It would be causalized to the core, to appeal to the mass normie/console crowd. Will probably have AA development that would play really really safe, and at the end produce a mediocre story with a forgettable game.
I asked this in another thread, but how viable is a non-combat build for this game? The combat looks boring, and I'm more interested in playing for the story and the lore/setting. Can I get by mostly on charisma and avoiding (most) fights?
do so please
there are some games when combat can be fun, this is not one of them, tone down the difficulty too.
But your tech vs magic choice do influence non combat parts too, be aware. Magic is OP but it has some ingame consequences.
Depends, do you count companions as non-combat? Because Charisma determines the amount of companions you're allowed to have. But by the time you get Dog the game is trivialized by how OP that companion is alone. But you will need to fight and kill things, it is unavoidable, delving into dungeons and being met with terrible monsters is required for story progress.
Pretty sure you can easily do a pacifist run as there aren't any story quests that require you to kill stuff and you can run/stealth past everything else. Also speech isn't an "I win" option and you have to know the game not to be told to frick off because you're spouting nonsense. Play on easy mode and uncap levels. It will be basically godmode.
Idk I vaguely remember the black mountain clan being a big filter for speech based characters. But maybe there's a sequence break I'm unaware of. I can't imagine stealthing past those golems would be easy.
Arcanum would be cool to see return but Microsoft got the IP with their purchase of Activision so Bethesda doesn't need to do anything. Would probably be a while before they do anything with it as Microsoft has Clockwork Revolution in the works at Inxile which has a bunch of people who worked on Arcanum at Trokia working on it and the director said is very influenced by Arcanum and vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines.
When they stop stealing other company franchises.
What do you mean?
MS currently owns this and owns zenimax.
Finally. We'll get Oblivion with Guns + Oblivion.
Starfield was oblivion with guns plus Skyrim.
I think Todd stopped played computer RPGs made by other companies by 2001.

They take 10+ years to make a single game. They do not need anymore IPs or studios.
Hopefully fricking never
I dont want one of my favourite rpg's to be bastardized and defiled by nu-bethesda
producer of the most boring soulless game slopfield? probably.
Larian should make the ideological sequel for The Arcanum in the same universe. It would a perfect fit. Time to message Sven!
Oh my, check those digits!
The thought of Larian's writers touching arcanum makes me want to vomit.
Dude, quality of writing is pretty much the same across top CRPGs. Remove OPs pink-eye glasses of nostalgia and look at facts.
Id love them to do arcanum then planescape
>planescape
I don't think that's happening. Didn't Larian have some sort of falling out with the DnD license owner?
Yes, I doubt they will ever work with DnD again
larian should only work on thier own stuff so other companies can't walk in and start meddling and enforcing "standards"
Whatever they do going forward, I just hope they stick to turn-based combat because they're just too fricking good at it
>the plot would center around where all the legions of half orc bodyguards are coming from
When does this game get good?
When you frick the sheep at the prostitutehouse.
.... They don't need to MS already owns the IP.

just play with godmode cheat. Your time is far too valuable to kowtow to niche late 90s rpg standards
I'll consider it

For those situations there are invisibility scrolls.
Why? Arcanum is practically a standalone story
Arcanum would be cool to see return but Microsoft got the IP with their purchase of Activision so Bethesda doesn't need to do anything. Can a game like Arcanum even be made today and not be woke cogfop slop?
videogames are generally pretty good at avoiding cogfop
see stuff like Dishonored
The only way a game like arcanum would be made today was if some autistic guy makes it by himself in his basement. Like an underrail situation.
they would change the Gnome conspiracy into a white human conspiracy
>Bethesda shat out Starslop
>OP is implying they buy Arcanum
Oh god, i hope that never happens.
