The co-op, sharing, I'd be quite down for a SRPG with custom maps. All that goes away for some lazily written marketing with only the last line being what game it was. I see this so many times now where the description is a vague story / setting waffle with no real talk of what the frick the game is. Like that one short ripping RPG that felt like an adlib of gamer words.

Honestly, the gameplay is quite good. Focusing on the hero mechanic speeds up the Advance Wars gameplay, and though the portrait art sucks dickballs, the unit sprite art is great.
The two real issues are:
1. Combat lacks impact everywhere. This is a weird one, since they were already copying AW. Why not also also copy the gamefeel?
2. The writing. The characters are insufferable and lame as frick. Indie devs need to shut the frick up.
I just don't understand the appeal of the Advance Wars style. What's the point in playing a game without permanent characters to level up? I hate using generic classes that you buy and use in rock paper scissors combat, but then again I always hated games like Starcraft for the exact same reason. How can you get invested in controlling an army if you don't hand pick every unit and equip them with weapons and level them up individually? Each map may as well just be a different game because there is no continuity in your army between chapters. If I bought 5 tanks in a previous chapter I wont have 5 tanks in the next chapter, makes the game feel fake and hollow.
