Do people not fricking remember Meowth learned to talk? You CAN teach Pokemon to speak people language; there's multiple cases of this fricking happening.
Meowth had to nerf himself by using 3 of his moveset slots for the ability to speak (which I think is one of the few times the show actually used the 4 move limit thing from the games). Most other Pokemon probably don't want to limit themselves so much. Even the episode in question had TR bemoaning how Meowth can't use PayDay as he only has Fury Swipes or something similar.
He also had a lot of drive to specifically learn human language. Most Pokemon live in the wild and don't give a frick about humans or their language, if they don't actively HATE humans.
And the ones that have a trainer, well language issues between trainer and Pokemon has almost never been an issue in the series.
So it makes sense why Meowth is basically the only Pokemon that learned how to speak human language. I think every other Pokemon that does only ever does so telepathically, and is also either 500 years old, an uber legendary, or usually both of those. Even that's not enough though sometimes, for example Mew can't speak human despite being older than time, and latias/latios can't even though they can shapeshift into humans.
Meowth is early installment weirdness, like the giant Tentacruel or the pink Butterfree, he just happened to stick around because he's a main character.
I think Mew literally doesn't care to because it has the attention span of a gnat on crack. Mewtwo can speak telepathically in all the media, so Mew presumably can - it just doesn't because that's boring.

Did they ever canonically explain what happens inside the pokeball? Is it a mini-prison, a dimensional portal to a holodeck or some sort of recreational place, or do they automatically go into sleep/stasis while in there?

Anime they go into stasis, there was an episode where a pokemon stayed in their ball for decades and was fine because it didn't need to eat and didn't age.
In game they shrink and climb in the ball themselves, they're still the same thing any other way
In the manga it's mostly the same as the game only here the balls are transparent so they see whatever is going on.
I think the official game lore is that Poke Balls are designed to be highly comfortable and resemble the Pokemon's natural habitat. Some depictions have the inside of the ball with a transparent screen so the Pokemon can see the world outside of it. It would explain how some Pokemon let themselves out at plot convenient moments.
It's pretty obvious they shrink down or the inside of the pokeball is some sort of larger storage.

The reason for the rarity of master balls and higher expense of better balls is because the tech is strictly regulated(in its way) for the sake of ethical concerns, and higher-density materials are utilized to make internal representations of blunt force less likely to break the mechanism.
tl;dr - "It just werks." Pokéballs make no sense in-universe or out, with zero consistent logic, and only get more conflicting and ridiculous with time. As compensation, have this majestic motherfricker.

As expected, the two main takeaways of my analysis were thing, Kanto (and Unova, because its just a copy) had the most “animal”, and the amount of “literally just a guy” and “things” have been increasing since Kalos.

You just hate the Pokemon. You hate them so much that you want GameFreak to handle them as shallowly as possible. The idea of them being given more depth or more of a spotlight makes you seethe so much that you've roleplayed as a self loathing Alolan Ninetales for years. The only reason why you become enraged when anons sexualize Pokemon is because you see it as Pokemon being portrayed more humanlike and less shallowly than you want them to be. Pokemon has been shit for so long, and that's largely due to the designs. Anything else that sucks about it stems from the exact lazy dumbass attitude that allowed the designs to get so utterly atrocious.

If pokemon were real, you wouldn't need to beat the shit out of it to tame the pokemon. You also wouldn't be limited to 6 at a time.
There would be a limit to how many you could carry on your person considering how potentially dangerous pokemon can be. Said limit would also be enforced for sporting reasons.

The number one thing that bothers me about the Pokemon world is how casually lethal some of them are. Let's take, for instance, Buneary. Just a little bunny, what harm could it do?

The truth is most Pokemon aren't truly out to frick with humans. Their existence can be incredibly disruptive, but they do not go out of their way to mess with you.
Yes, the Aggron family of Pokemon would be dangerous to any public works made of metal, but how many of any given region's oldest cities were established next to a population of metal-eating Pokemon?
A huge number of "problems" are solved by remembering that humans don't spawn in a location and hunker down for the rest of time. Humans lived where more powerful, dangerous, and disruptive Pokemon DIDN'T. And what Pokemon they did have to live near, they were smarter than.
Humans in the Pokémon world are not 'human' like us - they're another subspecies of pokemon and can learn moves or stuff and train to become just as strong as the average pokemon. Even then, the real reason is because 99% of Pokemon don't care and even the ones who actively hate people just distance themselves away from them unless they're actively bothered.
