>Should I have waited?
probably yeah but you can "cope" by the fact it's going to be "impossible" to get a switch 2 for like 2 years so that can hold you over until they're readily available without having to beat out bots online.
Switch was starting to badly slide out of relevance before Pikmin 4, Zelda and Mario Wonder came out. Nintendo can't afford any more big first party support for the Switch, scheduling-wise, so they can't do the same thing next year. If they buoyed the Switch with the next 3D Mario, Metroid Prime 4 and Mario Kart 9, then they are waiting a DECADE for the next Zelda game before they will have any opportunity to launch new hardware.
Are you moronic? It’s holiday season in the switch’s last year. If they announced it now it would destroy current switch sales. People would just wait for the new one
Even people who make 100 000 are starting to get pushed out of the rental market in my country, lots of kids are going to get much worse than an ageing console this Christmas.
Honestly? Not really. The sales just aren't in the dire straights they need to be to set the mood. People want to believe they are going down at a "fast pace", but its more like they are just, staying the same, but going up whenever games release.
If I were to name things that would result in the Switch 2, they would be:
A. Game releases change to majority trash, lazy 3rd party ports, or shovelware in general. If good 1st party games start to dry up, most users now would feel they played everything they could, and its time to go somewhere else for games, or start to save up for the 1st party games on the Switch 2.
B. Game releases in general drying up. If we start getting like 1 game every 2 months, that would REALLY sink the sales.
C. The guidence of pokemon, if the pokemon company suddenly goes "we have the next mainline game idea ready, but we aren't releasing it until we can release it for the switch 2" then Nintendo probably would say "well frick, guess we gotta make a switch 2 work out somehow"
C may have been true at one point but sure as hell not anymore. All the switch pokemon games could have been Wii U games if not 3DS. GF stopped giving a frick and its starting to hurt Pokémon's image. Its really time to give another competent dev a hand at the IP, I can't think of a better way for them to introduce the 10th gen and/or potentially celebrate the series 30th anniversary.
Nintendo wouldn't call it switch 2, because we all know how it worked for wii u.
Perhaps the naming convention is very afraid if whatever they make flops the console without the right name.
Xbox and Sony stopped giving a shit about what they call their consoles, but nintendo will have to since they have left an era of mistakes of 3ds naming, and wii naming.
>Nintendo wouldn't call it switch 2, because we all know how it worked for wii u.
If the Wii U had been called Wii 2 instead it would have avoided that problem.
Main reason the Wii U sold like shit though was because it had nogaems.
The only reason people try to predict something else is because Microsoft said once that they didn't name the 360 the "Xbox 2" because it would seem less advanced in comparison to the "Playstation 3"
Mario 3D world does not count!
True, it does not count. By "3D Mario game" I mean one in the same vein as Odyssey, Galaxy, Sunshine, and 64.
>>BotW does not count!
If it came out 2 years earlier as a Wii U exclusive then it would count. But 99% of people who played it, played it on Switch.
got mainline releases on consoles before switch
The huge success of SwSh and SV on the Switch proves it was a good idea. At the very least, there should have been a Pokemon RPG of some kind on the Wii U, even if it was just a Colosseum/XD style game.

Galaxy 1/2 have far more in common with 3D world than any other 3D mario game. It's also superior to galaxy 1 imo. You're right in that the average consumer who doesn't know shit probably views galaxy as more exciting.

POKEMON WAS NEVER ON HOME CONSOLES YOU moron
They always use random English words in his consoles:
Gamecube
DS - (Dual Screen)
We
We-U
Switch - (an electrical component that can disconnect or connect the conducting path in an electrical circuit)
They should use Japanese words
開閉器 - Switch's successor
ゲームキューブ - (A three-dimensional solid object bounded by six square faces, with some games inside)
They're not going to announce it during the holiday season when the thing isn't going to be out for at least another 6 months. Wait until next year, probably around March for the full presentation and maybe a teaser in late January or February to get the hype cycle going.
Only falseflaggers and tech illiterate morons claimed it's anywhere near the PS5/XSX. It's going to be a handheld, there's no magic mobile SoC that can deliver that kind of performance with decent battery life and at an affordable price. That kind of thing is at least 5 years away.
They could technically announce it in January and still be able to generate massive hype for any time after April. The only thing we know for sure is that it's not coming out in the current physical year, which ends March 31st.
April is too soon, mass production would already have started and we would have factory leaks by now. Look at the TotK OLED Switch, we had pictures of retail units in storage since December 2022. Realistically, if Nintendo is really fricking eager to get their next system out in the market, they're going to release it by summer at earliest. Fall is a more realistic release window.
I find it odd that they released two new mario games for the switch this year if this thing is coming out within the year. I know there are rumors that it will be backwards compatible, but I kinda have doubts on that.
>I find it odd that they released two new mario games for the switch this year if this thing is coming out within the year.
They released a 2D Mario game and a remaster. Exactly the sort of games you'd expect them to be releasing right at the end of a console's lifecycle.
Mario Wonder and?
A 2D Mario game, even if less bland than NSMB, won't be trusted to take the launch title slot after NSMB U nearly killed the company. They'll focus on ambitious, early adopter fan pleasing games given how well it worked for Switch.
NSMBU was a solid game, just not a good launch game. You need something big and exciting to grab people. NSBMU is something people pick up when they already have a console, not one they drop 350 bucks for. Even having 3d world at launch would have helped a lot.
Bullshit, the Wii U did get third party support at first with games like Need for Speed, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Black Ops 2, Batman, Assassin's Creed and several others. Third parties jumped ship when it became obvious that sales weren't going to take off.
If Nintendo dropped the moronic tablet and released a Wii HD 3 years earlier, then yes it would sell like hotcakes. Releasing an outdated gimmicky PowerPC shit console ahead of the PS4 and Xbone was a bad idea that never should have made past the drawing board.
NSMB U made Nintendo the laughing stock of the world until Breath of the Wild hype and the clean slate of a new system managed to turn their reputation around. Were you alive at the time? Every single person on the planet, well the ones who hadn't forgotten Nintendo even existed, fully one hundred percent believed that Nintendo had permanently shifted to only making 2D platformers, party games and Mario sports games because of the WiiU's uninspiring launch titles.
This is embarrassing cope on the level of Sonic fans boasting that Sonic Adventure wasn't actually the worst game of all time like everyone said at the time, wow big win.
If it was that soon, it would have leaked from manufacturing plants.
Why would they not announce it in spring like they did the Switch?
The Switch wasn't announced in Spring. Do you mean release? or are you calling them stating they would one day make another console during the annual Spring shareholder meeting where they announced that they would try phone games, an announcement?
If the former, the Switch could only launch so early in the year because the hype cycle was able to crossover the holiday season because the WiiU was dead and buried. They would have had to start moving already for a Spring launch and that would have lost them this year's holiday season just to accelerate their plans slightly.
Because it would effect the sale numbers of current hardware and games. We can assume it will be announced early next year and release in time for Holiday '24.
>Will it play GTA 6?
It definitely can. The leaked hardware is near the series S. Better in some ways, worse in others a wash overall. Any game on the series S, which is every game, *can* run on the switch 2. But Sony bribes third parties so I don't expect it there immediately. They aren't even releasing on PC day 1. After 2 or 3 years the exclusivity contract will run out. I do expect RDR2 and GTAV day 1 on switch 2 though.

It's using the 5tflop AGX Orin. Even with a more aggressive underclock than the switch that's 3.3-3.5tflops. Add in DLSS and much better raytracing and the GPU will easily outperform the series S. On the other hand the series S will have a faster CPU. In RAM the series S is faster but the Switch 2 will have more to work with. It's a real mixed bag. But either way there is no fricking way a dev cant port a series S game to the switch, when Hogwarts Legacy was somehow ported to the switch despite being designed for the PS5.
Because I actually did my research and looked at the Nvidia hack data.

Why is the switch 2 such a large leap over the switch? We can only guess that. I think they're making it bigger for one, but that's just an assumption.
Nintendo actually has time to work on a customized chip. The switch was a rush job to get away from the Wii U with an off the shelf tegra x1. They didn't even remove the low power cores from the original x1 design, they're still there just disabled. And stuff like the custom file compression engine in the switch 2 certainly wasn't an option for switch 1.
From the leaked hardware Nintendo is going with a much better GPU this time. I think the reason they're taking so long to announce and release this thing is because they need to be able to get that GPU in at 400 dollars. They're just waiting for the tech to advance enough that they can get something comparable to a series S at a 400 dollar price point.
Best bet for nintendo would be to release a competitor to the Series X and PS5 that is roughly par with them and plays multiplats + has compatibility with the Switch as a sort of Wii U Gamepad
Calm down, Pedo... You're pedo bait games will still be release on your Ninpedo Switch OLED for a long long time. You'll be allowed near schools and playgrounds again eventually. Now, run along and go play some Marwweeeeooooo or some Zwelda and the let adults here create threads, ok? Ok, Sport?
I hate Nintendo. It's literally the Apple of the gaming world. >Shit hardware >Walled garden >Sue happy >A huge fan base of npc mindless sheep
Not even snoys are as bad.
So true. We're taking down their fascist empire, one brick at a time, and no matter how hard those dumb trannies oppose the inevitable march of progress and the Rick and Morty fanbase.
If Nintendo was going to release early next year they would have announced it by now. Since they haven't, it's safe to assume it's September to October next year so no need to announce it until February.
They don't want to damage holiday sales, and only having a short video in a much longer event substantially lowers their control over the context and overall messaging, which are going to be very specific about after the WiiU reveal.
At most they will reveal a next gen game with a wink nudge acknowledgement that it isn't running on current gen hardware.
>At most they will reveal a next gen game with a wink nudge acknowledgement that it isn't running on current gen hardware.
I think we already kind of got that. The TTYD remake dropped the framerate to 30 from the originals 60, a very non-nintendo thing to do and features new button colors not in the original game or on the switch's controller. I think it's gonna be a cross gen release with the switch 2 version being the priority.
yeah i don't expect it anytime soon. like someone else said, it's the holiday season, no way they make any announcements right now. I think at earliest an announcement in spring 2024 for a fall 2024 release if 2024 is the target deadline, if not 2025.
Pushing the Switch successor's release date to holiday 2024 is a bad idea because we all know it's going to be a generation behind PlayStation and Xbox. That gives Nintendo four full years at best before the tenth generation begins. The same thing will happen to the Switch 2 where it's behind by two generations for the latter half of its life-cycle.
You're looking at the negative side of a late gen release, but not the positive side. Releasing later means hardware closer to the competition. It also means more game development time. That next 3D Mario is gonna be ludicrously good man. Odyssey had 4 years of development while the next 3D Mario is 7 years, think about that.
It's probably going to have to emulate games so most games wont have performance boosts. But I would expect specific games to get switch 2 versions. It's just a question of whether they give those for free or charge. Sony charges an upgrade fee to get PS5 versions of your ps4 games.
How much can Switch 2 handle modern third party AAA games with that specs according to the leak? Do you beileve it can catch up with the current gen with DLSS alone?
>No, they'll be downscaled as much as 8th gen games are to run on the Switch 1.
No, they wont. The Switch was about 1/3 of the weakest console, and 1/4 of the primary console. The Switch 2 leaked specs are similar to the weakest console (series s) and about 40% of the PS5. The switch 2 will have massive third party support, with the only games skipping being paid by sony.
I can see Switch 2 missing out a major tittle like GTA6 and Call of Duty simply because it would take too much work for them to maintain the online servers but we'll see
People have no clue how hard Nintendo is backed into a corner with handheld tech right now. Anything they do is going to come with big caveats that will put off their braindead normalgay audience. They're going to wait as long as they possibly can before coming out with a switch 2, especially while the switch is still selling.
You mean that nvidia tech that exploded in price and never came down thanks to cryptogays? There's a reason everyone goes amd and it's not like nintendo is known for powerful hardware.
The tech that won't help for shit at the low resolutions they'll be targeting? Or do you mean their patented "we aren't a gaming company so pay enterprise prices or frick off" tech? The games will look like shit relying on upscaling from 360p and the cost will make it a non starter. Being with nvidia is all negatives and no positives.
If the Switch successor is just more of the same but more powerful I doubt anyone will care and it will continue to sell extremely well. As long as they've got a strong launch line up there will be zero issues.
I lurk the tendiera thread about the next nintendo harware, they've been posting absolute garbage filler for months ever since their epic local insider completely shit the bed with his supposed exclusive info (switch pro releasing late 2022/early 2023, multiple third party exclusives being developped for it)
I'm starting to think this thing is never coming out
is there a compelling financial reason that they need to do it soon? I have a feeling there isn't

The only reason people try to predict something else is because Microsoft said once that they didn't name the 360 the "Xbox 2" because it would seem less advanced in comparison to the "Playstation 3"
Wrong, the other big reason the Wii U failed is because the Wii branding was already dead.
This is apparent in the later year sales of the Wii.
The same was not true of the DS, which is why the 3DS did all right in spite of phones stealing away a good amount of its marketshare.
The Switch 2 will do decently well as long as they keep on delivering quality software at a regular pace.
The Wii U had a frickton of games what are you talking about

Not even snoys are as bad.
I can't play Smash, Mario Kart or good motion games elsewhere. Kind of a deal breaker for me
So true. We're taking down their fascist empire, one brick at a time, and no matter how hard those dumb trannies oppose the inevitable march of progress and the Rick and Morty fanbase.
I'm moronic but wouldn't the TGAs be a perfect time to announce it? a lot of other companies are also announcing shit there
If Nintendo was going to release early next year they would have announced it by now.
I'll wait 7 years to buy the switch 2 just like the switch and 3DS. Buying the first version of any nintendo console is cucked.
lol, LMAO
>Buy the first version of console
>resell it years later for a huge mark up since the first version of the systems are always easier to hack
late 2025
yeah i don't expect it anytime soon. like someone else said, it's the holiday season, no way they make any announcements right now.
It better be fully backwards compatible with performance boosts.
Did you forget that this is Nintendo we are talking about? They will never aim for anything beyond 1060p let alone 4k
If some people won't stop complain about it, they can just release a Pro model to shut them up later
It will be good enough. Third parties will optimise their games for it so they don't miss out on that sweet tendie cash.
I can see Switch 2 missing out a major tittle like GTA6 and Call of Duty simply because it would take too much work for them to maintain the online servers but we'll see
why they gonna do it when the current switch sales are doing well?
People have no clue how hard Nintendo is backed into a corner with handheld tech right now. Anything they do is going to come with big caveats that will put off their braindead normalgay audience. They're going to wait as long as they possibly can before coming out with a switch 2, especially while the switch is still selling.
>Nintendo is backed into a corner with handheld tech right now
You do realize Nintendo have Nvidia tech to back them up, right? If anything, they are the one with the most advantage here
You mean that nvidia tech that exploded in price and never came down thanks to cryptogays?
Here's your switch 2 bro
not oled, hard pass
Haven't been on Ganker lately, have you.
how did you know?
It was the first pic I grabbed off of Google but yes there's also a oled model as well
I lurk the tendiera thread about the next nintendo harware, they've been posting absolute garbage filler for months ever since their epic local insider completely shit the bed with his supposed exclusive info (switch pro releasing late 2022/early 2023, multiple third party exclusives being developped for it)
I'm starting to think this thing is never coming out
