Haven't touched fallout dropped skyrim last year after about 20 hours with no mods. Loved morrowind when I was a teenager with no responsibilities. Can I pickup fallout series with no mods and enjoy it as a 38 yo man because graphics don't mean shit to me but I would start at 1 even though I want to play New Vegas. Give it to me straight bros I refuse to watch the show before I play the game because I love being objective on Ganker and I can't do that without starting from scratch. I have a job and a family so is this possible for me or should I just be a gamer dad and play bullshit like cs and helldivers?
Also for context I loved Ultima online in 1998 and played uo hybrid and also uooutlands until recently and I played WOW for a few years and loved it till it got gay in maybe 2006 or 7. I played guildwars, anarchy online, everquest etc but never got super into any of those games.

I'm not autistic but the gritty originals seem like where i should start and I want to understand the posters that say fallout died after 2 and also the fan boys of 3 and New Vegas so I can understand the hatred of 4. I bought 76 at launch and lasted probably 10 hours before I said frick this game but I was I playing on console.
I feel like if you liked Morrowind, you'll like Fallout 3 just because it's probably Bethesda's best open world.

How did you feel playing Skyrim after enjoying Morrowind (or even Oblivion)? That's basically how I felt with 4. It retained little of what I come to Bethesda games for. Only every played it once, never touched the DLC. Enjoyed the crafting, but settlement building was too barebones and there wasn't enough weapon variety.
The saddest thing about the settlements is that it had the potential to be good if there were only one or two. With the settlements, you basically grind the same shit over and over and get one of 3 unnamed NPC that repeat the same 3 lines of dialog over and over again. IF there were only one or two settlements, they could've had named npcs you could find across the wasteland that give you unique recipes for ammo/chems/weapons/settlement items kind of like the craftable weapons in Fallout 3. And settlement items could be had based on who you sided with in certain quests instead of getting them through perks. Depending on who you side with in certain quests could determine what settlement benefits you get. The closest thing to that is 3 NPCs in the game, the crack head in Diamond City, The Vault Tech guy, and the crack head in the Vault's sister. When you do get them to your settlement, they do fricking nothing, except Vault Tech guy has one or two unique items that are fricking useless. It's cookie cutter filler content how it's actually implemented.

I think I'm predisposed to like things and I remember when skyrim came out I was too poor to have anything that could run it and I had a 1 year old that was taking all my time but I was so fricking hyped about the game. Didn't start gaming again until my son was 8 or so and I picked skyrim up last year when he was 12 doing his own shit and loved it at first but felt like massive waste of time because the scaling of the mobs made me feel limited by my choices for a character and I'm not a min maxer so I dropped it.
They would be exactly where they are now. Mods are a small part of the fanbase. There are not any observable metrics to show they are a big deal.
