that's like asking me to pick between two gold encrusted turds. at the end of the day, they're still turds. that being said I didn't play either of them for any length of time that would entitle me to have an actual opinion, but first impressions were not good to say the least.
TLOU2
I'll always appreciate a game that takes risk over generic slop. Neither of these are great, but TLOU2 was more interesting overall. Of course on here it's impossible to discuss that, because nuanced opinions are replaced by only extreme ones.
TLOU2 is a 10/10 masterpiece and the people who don’t like it are fricking smoothbrain right wingers fighting a non existent culture war and GOW:R I gave up on twice out of boredom.
>TLOU2 is a 10/10 masterpiece and the people who don’t like it are fricking smoothbrain right wingers fighting a non existent culture war
oh I get it. you like this game on the basis that people who align with you politically will tend to like it, and therefore people who don't like it must be your political detractors. frick that. that's gay and dumb, anon. c'mon you're better than that. this game is shit regardless of what side of the political spectrum you fall on.
ok, out of curiosity, what did you like about it, and did you play the original in 2013? you can disregard 'right wingers' because that's a red herring.
Played original in like 2015 so I was kind of late but I loved it aside from some of the tedious “help Ellie cross water” bits.
I loved TLOU2 because most of the fights were in huge open ended arenas and you could make them as stealthy or loud and brutal as you wanted, and the fighting was so brutal and visceral and dark and it was just refreshing. Then add on the naughty dog polish and you have a great game.
What really put it over the top for me though was the time rewind where you start playing as Abby and you’re like “holy shit I fricking hate this” but as you push through it you start to see the situation more through her eyes and by the end of the game my perspective had completely shifted and I was rooting for her and wanted Ellie to get bent.
It took a huge narrative risk but people nitpick the absolute frick out of it because they think it is some sort of leftist propaganda getting shoved down their throat because there is a trans character in it, and what was really telling is half of you idiots still think that character is Abby.
>people nitpick the absolute frick out of it because they think it is some sort of leftist propaganda getting shoved down their throat because there is a trans character in it
uh you know that's not the only reason - or even one of the main reasons - why people hate this game though, right? also it's funny that most everyone seems to completely ignore the gameplay itself, and that's probably because it's genuinely an improvement over the first game, though it's still filled with 'walkie-talkie-press-X-to-have-deep-emotional-relationship' type sequences. people tend to complain about the mischaracterization of joel, the circumstances surrounding his death, and of course you can criticize the plot with its tone deaf messaging and themes that nobody who played the first game gave two shits about.
just saying, there's more to complain about than whether or not the game is 'woke' or has trannies.

Most of these complains are extreme nitpicks created so people can say “LOL YOU KNOW THE MAIN CRITICISMS ARENT EVEN ABOUT TRANS SEE LOOK JOEL ACTED DIFFERENT YEARS LATER AND HE SHOULDNT HAVE CHANGED AS A PERSON LITERALLY AT ALL BECAUSE I DONT CHANGE AS A PERSON AND DONT UNDERSTAND CHARACTER GROWTH”

are you really that cynical that you believe this is true?

good times made him soft, what else csn you really say?
likely explanation, one that isn't really established in any way, one that seems like it was pulled out of druckmann's ass as a deflection to the criticisms that were levied his way. me personally? I don't care. I always thought the first game was overrated while people were lapping it up like milk starved kittens, but surely you can at least acknowledge that not all the criticisms this game faced were some outrage bait as perpetuated by politically motivated bad actors, no?

I tried twice to get through the opening compound bit in the first game but was way too irate at the "sheathe weapon, crawl forward, listen to our dialogue" bit by the hour and a half mark. GoW I at least made like half way through before dropping for the same reason.
NTA but- >troony homosexualry
Most entertainment nowadays has some manner of "diversity" integrated into it. It's not ideal but you don't have to let it ruin things you would otherwise enjoy. If it's an absolute barrier to enjoying a story for you then you're pretty much going to have to avoid anything new and stick to content from before 2010 or so.
Similarly, >directed by some pretentious israelite
anon, I'm afraid I have some bad news about the ethnoreligious makeup of the western entertainment industry
tlou2 was misery porn and a sequel no one asked for, besides the ESG
gow2 was rushed and woke, also paid for by ESG
shame as two actual sequels were planned
>Ragnarok
Haven't played it because GoW 2018 wasn't for me. I gave up less than halfway through. I remember there was some tedious segment about moving crystals around. I powered through that and kept playing for a bit but eventually dropped it and didn't go back. The story/acting/cutscenes were nicely done but I wasn't willing to suffer through the actual gameplay for them. >TLOU2
Unironically my second-favourite game of all time (only beaten by Deus Ex). If you were to isolate just the story, it would make for a better animated film than most actual films. Isolate just the gameplay, and it'd be an excellent stealth action game. Taken altogether, it has a deeply strange and memorable atmosphere and was easily my most absorbing gaming experience of the last 20 years.
>years of anons saying Matt BTFO Joseph Anderson because the devs ignored Joseph >game comes out >they didn't listen to either and made the same game again
I usually hate the term "slop" but these games are truly what the word "slop" should be intended for. They are the Marvel of the vidya world. All show and absolutely zero substance.
TLOU has really great gameplay. I don't think the people that call it a movie and get angry about it for being "woke" have ever played it. I would recommend getting TLOU even if you don't care about the single player campaign at all, even just the multiplayer is great. A friend of mine that only games on Xbox bought a used PS4 just to play TLOU multiplayer.
None of you will actually do this but I challenge any of you to at least go try to play TLOU2 instead of just being a hateful frick for no reason and you will almost definitely realize you were wrong about it.
I feel like I'm going insane because people keep telling me to "play" TLOU2.
By play do you mean that I press play on my TV remote? Because I guess I can do that. I just don't know if I have it in me to watch a 20+ hour movie.
TLOU multiplayer doesn't have a story at all. It's just stealth focused team based combat. There are zero cutscenes, zero context for the fighting and zero objectives beyond killing all of the enemy players. It's purely gameplay and it's great.
>generic third person stealth that has been done 50 million times before since the early 2000s >annoyingly animation heavy >trying too hard to be cinematic >annoying bland dialogue >completely soulless
None of you will actually do this but I challenge any of you to at least go try to play TLOU2 instead of just being a hateful frick for no reason and you will almost definitely realize you were wrong about it.
What moronic logic
It's a dull game that should be half it's length. The gameplay isn't bad but it gets old because the game it's pretty bloated
I don't think anyone defending the the game with "dude the gameplay" actually played it
None of you will actually do this but I challenge any of you to at least go try to play TLOU2 instead of just being a hateful frick for no reason and you will almost definitely realize you were wrong about it.
This is just patently false lol.
Playing a shooter with a controller is like playing a RTS with a controller.
Mouse and Keyboard will always be 10000 times better.
>and you will almost definitely realize you were wrong about it
It's a completely generic third person shooter that's extremely linear in both level design, combat and ways that you can/can't approach things. The game's #1 priority is story, not gameplay. The only thing that made me genuinely go "oh, that's cool" is the way that the AI behaves sometimes.
Oh is this the bait thread?
I was never that bothered by Last of Us 2 because although I liked 1, I didn't love it or thought it was that special.
God of War was, though. 1 was like transcendental, the only comparable thing on the playstation was DMC3. And 2 was the first "difficult" game I ever really tried to beat, me and my friends used to challenge each other on Titan and play together. We all waited for the release of 3 like it was a monumental event
So yeah, Goy of War is considerably worse for me.
Oh yeah.
The other two were very good games, but nothing like the first in terms of story
Kratos's tale really did feel like a greek tragedy, he never even gains redemption, his actions will be marked and haunt him forever
And the Gods, man they felt huge, powerful. You feel the futility of the quest of killing a God when you see the temple Pathis Verdes III built, when they talk to you only through avatars and specially when Ares swats your like a fly and you're only rescued by not-Zeus.
they can't play it yet so they will seethe

Sorry, I don't play cutscenes.
cope
Let me rephrase it then, I don't play cutscenes created by dangerhair c**ts in California.
gay.
GoW by far.
You most likely do, either The Walking Dead or Half Life like every other contrarian homosexual here.
How many times do i need to post this?
>100 hours of tower with that dogshit combat
yikes
Bait thread.
Can someone please post Cedar Rapids
I played like 3 hours of GoW 4, man that shit sucks, and not because of the cutscenes and non stop dialog, the "game" parts are bad.
TLOU2
I'll always appreciate a game that takes risk over generic slop. Neither of these are great, but TLOU2 was more interesting overall. Of course on here it's impossible to discuss that, because nuanced opinions are replaced by only extreme ones.

Ooh two of Vee's favorites. I wonder which masterpiece will win? 😮
TLOU2 is a good game, but they removed Factions 2 and have basically soft cancelled it again. So its actually trash

TLOU2 has drastically better gameplay than the first one
I refuse to subject myself to troony homosexualry directed by some pretentious israelite, sorry that you're into that anon.
Thank you, you are supporting my position with these kinds of comments. The people who do not like this are right wing smooth brains.
Not right wing or a smooth brain. Just normal.

Didn't play either of these turds. Typical console slop.
Neither are games.
They are interactive big budget Hollywood tier movies.
You did not play TLOU2
You're right, because I can't PLAY TLOU2.
I can watch it and interact with it at times.
But I can't play it.
Looks like you got filtered by the Berzekers.
You can't lose though, because it's not a game. I don't know if you're trolling, but there's no dying in movies. The movies play out one way.
Why the hell would I play either of those games?

Both are shit.

Beat the game on hard or higher and then come back here and say this
Beat? Does hard mode mean that the movie is like 50 hours instead of 20 or something? Is it just a matter of not falling asleep?
TLOU multiplayer doesn't have a story at all. It's just stealth focused team based combat. There are zero cutscenes, zero context for the fighting and zero objectives beyond killing all of the enemy players. It's purely gameplay and it's great.

its not the 90s anymore grandpa gamepad is a good way to play shooters now

ha. what a joke. you're serious? get outta here.
you guys know they make gamepads with gyro and touchpads these days right

still not better than mouse + keyboard.

I haven't played Ragnarok yet but I thought TLOU 2 was actually very good. But don't tell anyone here I said that.
Last of Us 2 has more replayability honestly. Dad of War gets old pretty fast.
>The Last of Us has 1 hour and 30 minutes of cutscenes.

GOW bros... oh no no no no!!!!
if i had to choose GOW

Last of us 2 for sure! I couldn’t wait for gow to be over. I thought the pacing was bad, it was like watching a movie
Tlou2 fanboys are some of the most insecure vidya fans I've ever seen.
The worst part about GoWR isn't "durr movie game" it's playing as Atreus
I am the only person on Ganker that loves TLOU2
