The changes are minor but arguable fix a significant problem, which is the samey-ness of DP. In DP, house models are mostly repeated everywhere except for some recolors. The colors are brighter in DP and some people think that doesn't fit with Sinnoh's vibe. All the dungeons in DP use generic tilesets. Platinum changed all this stuff - made cities and towns more distinct visually, changed the colour pallete to be "colder", and made places like eterna forest, the great marsh, the galactic buildings, and the wealth of caves, all looking meaningfully distinct. These changes, though minor, make a reasonably significant difference, and I can imagine that mattering a lot to some people.

Sure, RBY have max nostalgia, Gens 2-5 have beautiful spritework, and XY has a good aesthetic, but gOD DAMN. I've never seen such prettier games than S/M and PLA. Sun and Moon has every great setting for an amazing tropical region, and there's just so much pretty shit in it. the clothing choices are just trash, but everything else is amazing, and then Legends Arceus has that "old painting" style that just works so beautifully, as well as the music, holy frick the music.
