Is there much of a Turok modding scene? It would be nice to play around in those games engines, just without the levels being so unnecessarily big and obtuse. The weapon sets are great. All of the music and art assets are great. It's just the levels that are so-so.
none of them. mods are a low talent hobby for people that can't code and barely understand the hardware they're working with. the amount of nes and snes romhacks that don't work on real hardware is absolutely astounding.
somehow /vr/ always has a guy who inexplicably hates something for some petty, snob reason. this board is such breasts.

I just filter those people out at this point, because I know even they aren't earnest in the things they say. It's a transparent attempt to piss someone off, because that's all they can do.

That game has such a distinct, unpleasant vibe to it. I don't know why but especially that first beachside carnival midway at night level is probably the single most offputting environment in any game I've ever played. Its weird how driving that fricking hotdog car around under the pier could convey such wrongness to me but it does. Why the frick is there even a hotdog car down there? Why is there a bee themed haunted obstacle house? Why is the music like that? Why does thebfirst lwvel take place at night in a Carnival of Souls environment? Why is the music what it is?
It's a good game, but I know what you mean. I think carnival stuff in general rubs me the wrong way though.
Yeah, I definitely wouldnt call it a bad game, it just really feels off somehow. I get being skeeved out by carnivals in general but thats never been the case for me, there's something about that specific level that makes me feel this anxious, sickly dread. Im someone that finds video game creepypasta stuff embarassing too, shit is corny and almost always insincere, but that frickin level just weird me out man.
I thought these thoughts about the entirety of the game. There's something really unsettling about it all.
I associate this game during the time my family was homeless for a few months when our house flooded. My mom got it for me to keep me occupied. The last few levels really unsettled me, the lava pyramid and spooky food levels in particular. The whole game is like a child's fever-induced nightmare
