Toss up between Unova and Galar. Everything from their starters, early route mons, and legends are irredeemable.

I'm confused about that since Parasect is usually "horror", not "ugly" and there are Gen 1 Pokemon that seem more "ugly". This is very effective clickbait.

Galar and Paldea for me. Those starters alone from both region are atrocious. Inteleon is the biggest mistake.

We havent had a good water starter since gen 6, and even that one disturbs me having its tongue outside its mouth constantly.

Define “worst” because it could mean
    >ugly
    >too simple
    >too generic
    >bad color matching
    >gimmick design
Like in the OP, zealot could be seen as too simple but I woulndt call it the worst. I think grabador is ugly but it is going for trash. Probopass is ugly but it is going for an Easter island moai head. Paras is perfect.
Also does worst mean bad or does worst mean not the best. Like if you could get $1,000 vs $1,001 then the 1k is worst than 1.001k.

worst means the design is not good on any level and should have been redesigned or discarded

A lot of these are top tier designs. More thought out and condensed dex is best for Pokémon vs Gen 3 and 5 with a ton of Pokémon that clearly take inspiration from the originals. Gens 2 and 4 help make the games feel connected

You know, if you actually looked outside of /vp/ for a change, you'll find that many quite liked Gen 8's designs. Just because of dexit doesn't mean that you gotta shit on everything remotely related to that game, which is weirdly hypocritical considering every Pokemon is someone's favorite which was (rightfully) used as an argument against dexit. I feel like /vp/ is a thinly disguised Hoenn circlejerk, it's the one generation that almost never gets any flack which again, it used to be much more common (it was once one of the most polarizing generations)

Demographic shift. Tentacool, Wingull, and trumpets became a sign of pride instead of derision.

this is about bad designs, not about whether some randos are capable of saying they like a design even if its ugly on purpose
if that was a standard no one could criticise anything because theres bound to be one autist whos like "i find it charming despite the problems"

This one takes the cake. Paldea has Tinkaton and Sprigatito at least and most of the high tier Galar ones ar just stupidly ugly.

Wonder if Rolycoly and Coalossal were originally two different lines that were combined into one during development. Rolycoly seems designed around wheel-like movement, while Coalossal is a vague memory interpretation of Rhydon down to having triangle eyes.

Galar has alot of bad designs and a decent handful of great designs. Duraladon is one of the ugliest pokemon to ever exist. However, paldea is the worst for sure. 99% of the dex is hideous. Anyone who says tinkaton is a good design is a lying homosexual

The more I look at the Kalos dex in retrospect, the more I realize how shitty it was with so many frickups. Megas really did efficiently distract everyone from that.

According to me and my personal list, it's Galar and Paldea. I know
    >HD era bad
but it's true. Unova has a much more divisive crop of good and bad for me but that's a result of having the most Pokemon to pick from. Alola was that feeling amplified for a smaller pool. Lots of great designs and a fair amount of bombs. Sinnoh however, had the absolute smallest number of placements in my personal top 50 until Paldea. I think Sinnoh just lacked designs that I really liked, even if it didn't have much that I disliked. Hoenn has the largest number of baseline "good" designs imo, but similarly doesn't have a lot that I'd consider great.

    >Which gen has the worst poke designs ?
of the first 4 gens, Johto, because they are too simplistic

of the first 6 gens, Unova, because they are too simplified and creatively bankrupt; Kalos has a tiny dex that is largely inoffensive, is the best that can be said for it

After Kalos I stopped paying attention as most dexes displease me; I thought Galar was the worst I'd ever seen then Paldea came around---it's largely indistinguishable at this point

Galar. I imagine the new Pokemon were made to be easier to model? It makes them look extremely ugly imo. Corviknight and the regional forms/cross evolutions are the exception
