The shit they eat doesn't smell as bad, especially now that the PS5 is a somewhat decent machine. It was way worse during the PS4 days, when loading screens were three minutes long. I have no idea how people could put up with that shit.

There's no trend, everyone has been moving away from moviegames for a while now. I googled "best games 2023" and there are only two ""Sony-likes"" in there: Alan Wake 2 and Final Fantasy 16. They both flopped.
I refuse to play Alan Wake 2 because, in my crazy explanation, he commited suicide at the end of the first game and this game (for me) does not exist.
FF16 would be much better if they get rid of sidequests and unnecessary long eikon battles.

I would've probably bought Wild Hearts as well, if it didn't run like absolute shit on my computer.
The only one I considered a waste of money was Diablo 4. But honestly I don't even like the genre, I bought it only because all of my friends did. For me Path of Exile was just as boring, so... I may not be the best person to evaluate Diablo-likes.
I haven't played Mario Wonder and TotK yet. And I've only mentioned AAAs, how can you say 2023 was a bad year.
