Diablo 2's legacy has not only ruined the ARPG genre but infected other genres with the meaningless loot bullshit and the trading scene helped normalise p2w bullshit which video games might never recover from.
Also the game itself is honestly garbage. Lots of things in the game don't work as you would expect because of glitches and the game just outright lying, some builds can clear the entire game from start to finish with no gear requirements while other builds are worthless even with good gear, the itemisation is overrated because runewords homogenise it at every stage of the game (be honest when is the last time you played a caster who didn't use Stealth/Spirit/Rhye/Lore), its bogged down with constant menuing and trips to town, it's coma inducingly easy on normal difficulty but also fricks you over unless you're using a build guide on hell difficulty, it has feature bloat that adds nothing like stamina ammo for ranged weapons etc. Diablo 1 was a much better game.
I refuse to believe people genuinely like playing BG1/2. D&D + 6 party members + RTWP is an awful combination. The story of these games is also not good. They look and sound great, have excellent itemization and some very good quest design but that is it.
Morrowind, easily. Bethesda has only made mediocre, adequate at best games. All the others are good games, but I haven't played KOTOR, so can't comment on that one.
Arcanum, Planescape, and Fallout 1 and 2 are boring. KotOR is the best of those by far. Diablo 2 is fun but barely counts because the story is nothing but dialogue you skip.

arcanum hands down, closely followed by kotor. you can tell someone isn't worth listening to if they like arcanum.

The only games on that list i've played are FO1, FO2, Morrowind and D2.
Out of those 4, I'd say D2 is the worse. I just can't really consider ARPGs good RPGs. ARPGs and MMOs are like 2 sides of the same coin.
