SotC is much better, so probably Ico
both great but sotc has far more replay value. last gaurdian is underrated.
SotC just like anyone else with a brain
both are "great stuff"
Escort missions are double gay, so SotC wins by default.
not played ico but sotc is one of the best games of all time
I would have said SotC when I was younger. It's certainly far more epic, ambitious, and all-around a technical marvel. But these days Ico resonates with me more. Its simplicity makes it more elegant in my eyes.
I really wanted to like Ico but I hate escort missions more than anything else in vidya.
Some of my favorite bits in Ico are when you're forced to leave Yorda behind a loading zone (screen fading to black), meaning player only has a few seconds to do a certain goal and return where you left her before the shadows appear. Those mandatory tense moments are great, and i wish there were more of them.
Never played either, heard both are literally just walking simulators.
ICO is. SotC is great. Good replay value with the option for randomly-placed weak points, too.
>walking simulators
Except platforming and climbing are major gameplay elements. You also swim, climb chains or swing from them, push objects, ride a horse, aim with a bow, etc.
Dude you literally ride a horse for 15 hours.
Chill out.
Each colossus except for the last one can be reached in less than 5 mins if you know where to go and don't waste any time. Colossus 2 and 11 have a speedrun technique that lets you reach them faster.
They are both incredible but for replays probably ICO all the way. I love SOTC but it feels like work sometimes. Ueda should have just allowed you to fight the story bosses in whatever order you want
the puzzles got me more attention than the climbing simulator
>Last Guardian
>I am forgotten
I bought a ps3 because of that game. When it finally released on ps4, I played like 30 minutes and thought 'maybe some other day'.
I wish they made more battle themes for SotC. After colossus 8, the only ones to introduce new music tracks are 10, 15 and 16.
if you have any sense of originality and artistry - ico
>if you like double gay escort missions - ico
Fix'd
Both are bad games.
ICO. Short and on point.
By the 6th/7th giant, SOTC starts feeling like a fricking drag. There's 16 of them, and it was supposed to be more
>get to boss
>start reading pattern
>"oh, so this is how you do it, cool"
>get to next boss
>start reading pattern
>practically same pattern as before except it makes it a bit more convoluted to get to the stabbing spot
>get to next boss
>figure out pattern
>"ok cool can I just fast-forward to the next battle?"
It's just not fun.
I had a completely opposite experience and basically didn't want the game to stop.
Watch some speedruns of Ico. There are more ways to finish it faster than you'd think. Some of them were intentional on Ueda's part.
Ico and Yorda strike a bigger chord with player than Wander and Agro do. Probably because former duo is a fantasy duo. Ico is a horned boy and Yorda is a magical princess. Meanwhile, Wander and Agro are just a normal person/horse.
Too bad escort missions are gay and are for double naggers.
Not Ico, I stuck two times there, one time I softlocked the puzzle with boxes, and the second time I don't know about the ability to throw bombs.
Neither. Both are goychow
Ico is one of the best games ever. Take it from someone who has finished the PS2 version in less than 2 hours more than once.
Escort mission: the game.
Shadow of the Colossus is a nice puzzle game
Never played ICO
