Both are kino. They scratch different itches and are almost entirely different gameplay wise so saying which one is better is merely a matter of taste.
Prime is a better game. It also looks infinitely better on the same hardware. There's an interesting interview on YouTube with some ex Retro Studio guys talking about the remaster and how the Switch's limitations actually prevented recreating some of the details that the Gamecube had such as light following the shots. Basically the remaster should have been even better but Nintendo's hardware threw that opportunity right out the window. See you at the next HDHD remaster in 20 years.
I haven't played the Remaster, but just looking at original releases of both, Prime.
This is kind of hard to explain, but when I played Prime it was seriously amazing, both in gameplay and atmosphere. It left me wanting for more.
Meanwhile after playing Dread, I didn't feel any of that. I felt like playing Super Metroid again.
The way Prime conveys story and worldbuilding with the scan visor is so brilliant. That got slept on so hard until Dark Souls did something similar with its item descriptions.

zoomers, scanning was heavily critsized in the original gamecube version for being boring, because it is.
Its almost entirely optional. Don like scanning stuff? Then don't scan stuff. revolutionary idea i know
its like saying mario kart sucks because youd pick peach every time and your friends would call you gay
>If you want to play Prime, then wait for 4 in 2-3 years.
Wasn't prime 4 announced at the beginning of switch's life cycle? Now we have to wait until after switch's successor releases at the earliest, I'm so tired bros
I don’t know about objectively, but I loved Dread a lot more mostly because of its faster gameplay. Though I enjoy Prime, the slower pace of that series overall was never my cup of tea.
In terms of face structure, I’d personally give the edge to Other M Samus. She looked gorgeous in that game.
Theyre fairly different games, but I'd say prime excells at what it does stronger than dread does.
Dread nails its movement and combat, but the story is incredibly dumb, and the way its told is even worse. There's also a bit too much handholding which makes it feel too much like i'm on a guided tour which cheapened the experience for me (particularly with the teleportation statue that just dump you to the next spot youre supposed to go). The visual and audio design is also incredibly dull and lifeless
Prime on the other hand did so much right. It's such an engrossing full of life game. I like how much it never leaves that first person idea, even you find out more about the plot and world by acting as samus doing samus shit, scanning around you. Even just the audio design is still maybe the best I've heard in a game. World is well designed, big and feels 'wild' but still contained enough to not be a spawling mess, so on. nearly everything hits the sweet spot
Dread is a complete joke of a metroid game, just like fusion and other M before it. A metroid game with poor environmental exploration will never be a good game. Prime, on the other hand, had one of the best environmental level designs in the entire industry.
super metroid
dread
still dread
Frick off
the prime series is superior to all other metroid games
Both are kino. They scratch different itches and are almost entirely different gameplay wise so saying which one is better is merely a matter of taste.
Prime is my favorite in the series, so I'd go with that. Though, I mean the original since I haven't played the remaster.
I've only ever played fusion.
No it's not!!! Prime the best!! I will introduce a spaghetti in your butthole!!!!!!!
Prime
Isn't metroid dread $60 for like 5 hours of gameplay?
>zoomer cannot into replay value
Most metroids are like that, but why would you replay Dread of all things? It really is only 5 hours of value.
Miyamoto isn't a zoomer though?
Prime - The one that wasn't made by mountain dwelling galician goat herders.
You're a moron, mate.
As a galician goat herder I'd just wish that we'd had make Dread, because there is no gamedev jobs here.
why is he a moron? he's right

The Switch is such a piece of fricking shit.
>tfw if Nintendo kept releasing GAMECUBE games they would look better than the games they make now
Kek
Eric, meds
they're completely different games, depends on your preference
>switch is too limited to remaster a gamecube effect
I find that hard to believe, they should add it in for a switch 2 patch
Prime is soooooo boring. Its literally just spam the right trigger while locked on.
Both are fantastic in their in right, but I'd probably give this one to MPR

it didn't get slept on, it was universally praised
zoomers, scanning was heavily critsized in the original gamecube version for being boring, because it is.
97 on metacritic says otherwise
Professional reviews not reflecting the the views of the playerbase is nothing new.
prime has the highest user score of the series as well (well second only to prime trilogy)
Its almost entirely optional. Don like scanning stuff? Then don't scan stuff. revolutionary idea i know
its like saying mario kart sucks because youd pick peach every time and your friends would call you gay
I've only played the demo but this is inspiring me to go play dread
Have you played any other Metroid games?
>3D metroid
You are a subhuman
right
Metroid Dread is far better.
If you want to play Prime, then wait for 4 in 2-3 years.

they are both great. shut the frick up.
the one that isn't almost 20 years old
The original prime makes dread look like an amateur project, nevermind the remaster
Prime and Dread especially highlight that Samus is a bit of a tryhard dork. She's always doing action hero poses.
This is peak samus

I like her Melee look.
Dread
Dread and it’s not close
Dread

Prime is nothing but shitty backtracking. Metroid as a whole works far better in 2D than it does in 3D.
Dread is a complete joke of a metroid game, just like fusion and other M before it. A metroid game with poor environmental exploration will never be a good game. Prime, on the other hand, had one of the best environmental level designs in the entire industry.
For me? Prime.
But both are kino
>Comparing 3D to 2D
Oy vey
