      Pc

PC is a fricking nightmare for playing anything that isn't some bare-bones mpeg.
The real answer OP is looking for is the Nvidia Shield Pro.

I like the 4k player in both one x and series x but it isn’t the best. The series x often times crashes with normal blu rays because the copy protection is doing something weird. It also has trouble decoding 4k discs sometimes. I’ve heard that the PS5 is worse when it comes to 4k bluray because Sony has been fricking up hard. Honestly it is probably better to just get a stand alone player. As far as streaming 4k, much if the same. Atmos never seems to kick in and resolution rarely is as clear as it should be.

Both consoles have a shitty built in media players.
If you plan to play your own media, download Plex or Kodi off their respective storefronts.

Kodi is probably the best media player for consoles, and it is a damn shame that the PSN store doesn't offer it for the PS5 and PS4.
The only application that still offers local media playback from external devices (like a thumb drive or USB docking station) and doesn't have issues reading libraries from a DLNA server (from my experience).

I imagine Plex on the PS5 works the same way it does on the PS4, but I have no way of verifying. I can only attest to a shitty experience from using Plex on the PS4.
Local media playback is out of the question; streaming from a DLNA server is the only option.
Plex often fricks up reading the contents from my video folder. It will often pull incorrect metadata from a different series and apply it to a random episode. Mixing up the episode order is a frequent occurrence.
It also has inconsistencies with HEVC encoded videos, but I am surprised they can even play on my PS4 considering it's not officially supported by Sony.

The only people who will be adversely effected by this are weebs who torrent their shit. Normies don't pirate Star Wars or the latest episode of Euphoria, so it's no skin off their sack.
Sony has a large stake in the entertainment industry, so it comes as no surprise they will do everything in their power to give users a shitty experience when it comes to playing media that wasn't purchased from their storefront.
I can envision Microsoft doing the same thing in the near future, if they get enough investments from Hollywood.

I use the kodi app on my xbawks along with some flash drives loaded up with stuff I acquired on my PC. I used a PC hooked up to my tv for a while and I hated doing that, this is a much better solution for me and the xbawks media remote is pretty good too.

      Only a few good things.
But those good things are negated by the pro-choice and vaccine propaganda they shill on their Xbox Twitter account.

Find me a tech company that isn't pozzed to shit, you think Sony "we can rebuild the cities the Black folk are destroying" Gaystation is any better? Nintendo had a moment of silence during E3 for those homosexuals shot up in the nightclub.

That's the fate of any major corporation, it's a phenomena called O'Sullivan's law ,where any corporation that hasn't expressed itself as right-wing in the vein of being political neutral or undisclosed will eventually harbor left-wing ideals.

    Easily the Xbox.
The PS5 os is hot garbage and can't even read CDs. The Xbox also has Atoms support while the PS5 doesn't.
