Why so averse to the idea? It seems like a no-brainer these days, unless there's a console exclusive game that you just can't do without.

Its probably not just the price, but the price and value you're getting from it. You know very well that you aren't going to have the time to sit down and play enough games on the thing to make the investment worth it. You also known that it's going to be useless for at least many months at a time because of constant gaming droughts, it's going to take up space (the console, controller, any other accessories, and the games you physically buy), the amount of games your motivated to play through in general has probably decreased over the years, and knowing that in just a few years thats going to be not much more than a paperweight doesnt help either.

Legitimately just get or build a PC. Its a higher initial cost, but the value is actually worth it. As much as people try to say the fact that it can do infinitely more than just play video games shouldn't be a determining factor, it does to a lot of people who are more careful with the money and likely arent the type to just throw it away and "splurg" just because. You can play games and watch videos sure, but you can use it for writing, digital art, designing and creating in general, for work, and other things too. Plus, the PC has objectively the most games available for it. Especially when you consider games from decades ago, all the indie and AA games, and of course current gen games that are now 99% "console exclusive" meaning the game either is or will be on PC.

Get a PC and then years down the line get whatever Nintendo is doing. It's the best combination without question in my experience. I also didnt proofread this, so apologies for any typos.

        Yes. Consoles are gross.

        Both, like me

Imagine the PC gaming machine you could have built for that money you wasted on this console trash.

        Xbox, buy Starfield too

        >Starfield
        lol, lmao even.

        buy a pc
home consoles stopped making sense when consoles started having downloadable updates and mandatory installs

Or to put it in other words: consoles stopped making sense when consoles started becoming weaker PCs with less customization options and less freedom. That's what consoles are these days, they're really just shittier PCs.

Oh anon. I need that sweet sweet Final Fantasy XVI right now.
        >Its coming later

Yeah it does actually, also you only need a 1660TI if you want a PS5 equivalent. Anything more is going to blow the PS5 out of the water

Ps5 uses RDNA 2 architecture it's not very advanced. Also it's vram is shared with RAM and only exists to push out a subpar experience with 4k. I bet you bought into the "magic" PS5 ssd too
Ff16 can't even be run at a stable 30 kek

you say this like it's a bad thing, it's a better design over the mess that we have on PC with all of the low vram cards.

Shared vram is a bad thing that's why it's performance sucks ass

consoles don't use DDR4/DDR5 ram for vram. it uses GDDR6, the same crap you have in your gpu

for games, the to extra cores mean little, especially at the boost clock.
Though for 40$ more, you can get a 5700X.
                >no mouse and keyboard
you would need one for consoles for a equivilent set-up, so i don't count it.
                >controller
just use the favorite you already own, that old PS4 controller has more functions on PC and should be great.
                >no OS

PS4 is still getting the brunt of third party releases. PS5 literally has something like 6 exclusives and is losing them faster than they're coming out. It's not worth buying and Jim confirmed that they'll continue to stagger out their first party software. Currently, the PS4 is far and away the best option and you only miss out on like 6 games-not all of which are even decent. PC and Switch are also strong options depending on preferences.

Based off the last showcases Sony are abandoning single player games and solely focusing on shitty live service games. Meanwhile xbox are doing the complete opposite with a ton of single player exclusives. So I'd go for xbox personally. I don't like the live service direction Sony are heading in.

Xbox hasn't put out anything worthwhile other than forza for quite some time now. Sony doesn't have any live service games actually released at the moment other than GT7 (and Destiny 2 if you want to count that)

What a complete waste a revision would be unless it were just for cheaper manufacturing costs or the like. On the consumer end, the thing barely has a reason to exist. It's a PS4 Pro 2 and Sony's almost ground to a halt on releasing games.
