That's exactly the same interface as persona 5. I mean ok they recycled the asset but it's awful, didn't even bothered to make a gui in theme with the year.
People who worked on Persona 5 are working on the other "not" persona game. This remake is a afterthought.
What does that mean
It means Hashino (the guy behind Digital Devil Saga 1+2, Persona 3, 4 and 5) went to make his own studio along with the main character designer (Soejima), the composer (Meguro) and stole some guys from Studio Kara (Evangelion) and Nier Automata's art directors to make Kino that's a combination of persona and Digital Devil Saga 2.

Honestly i would take just another something similar dds done good. That game was my first exposure to the franchise and it made me love it.
I'll wait for more showcases on it, I've been begging for another DDS type game and it seems RE:Fantazio is as close as I'm getting.

A lot. Fes has a vn interface removing you going around the game world, it also has more qte but less features. It has a debatable worse soundtrack and of course generally the game looks worse than a PS2 games, which says a lot.
As i said, keep the p3p if you want to do a female route, for the male route everyone in their sane mind would suggest you play fes (easily emulable on ps2).
FES is PS2 game and doesn't gave VN interface it's p3p that has the VN interface.

Reload is pretty much the best version in every way especially gameplay and visuals. Also new cast interactions (actually good ones, not the Answer).
The only thing it fumbles on is soundtrack, listen to some comparisons if you care a lot about that and wait for a mod to replace it if it's a dealbreaker to you.

Just get the remake. It has the quality of life improvements that will make your first time experience better. You can actually control all the party members and not get trolled by bad ai.
Don't get swayed by other people's nostalgia
With so few exceptions they're not even worth mentioning, Reload is the definitive Persona 3 experience. The only thing it lacks that is substantial in the form of content worth experiencing is the female protagonist, but when combined with all of the other improvements in it's barely an issue.

Of your complaints, only the "censorship" is a valid criticism. Everything else is either blatantly wrong or an opinion (a shit opinion at that) at best. They reworked the scene with the crossdressers and made it worse- everything else is either still present, fine, or again, so minute it isn't worth the scrutiny. Fortunately, once localization teams are replaced by AI, we'll have a lot less of it.
They had also other dialogues changed, so far i seen the "military boot camp" movie and others.
The assets are cheap as frick, models are stiff, thin and without any shadow or consistence in the world. The ost is worse, hands down. The new version of the classic songs are awful.

Typical *persona 5* aesthetic. And persona 5 at least managed to have his own style.
Reload is mostly the same and the QoL changes are very friendly to new players. I love FES but it's a pain in the ass in many ways not even related to the tactics menu which you'll figure out in like an hour. I would recommend the nip audio, the FES dub is excellent thoughever.
Don't listen to the first 2, they blow shit out of proportion. Reload is the best way to play it
