Based. Once you capture a pal, they will happily help you without being asked. They don't try and run away, they don't fight you. The least we can do is treat them nicely.
This was on a little outcrop on a river bend between the starting island and the red grass island. It was nice but the non flat terrain and river seemed to cause issues with pals so I left it. Maybe it's better now though?
Possible for some but at the very least the ones who get eaten by other pals or the ones you butcher with the butcher's knife are probably dead.

A full condense is a rank up for all of the pals work. It's a significant boost. I power my late game base using only one precious little jolthog who eats hardly anything because he's a jolthog. I'm going to rank up a jormuntide ignis for fast ingots, but it'll be a b***h to get all 118 extra jormintides.
My philosophy is that the lowliest pals are the ones least deserving of abuse, but the tougher they get the less I care. Pals I've caught I care for more, though more specifically ones I've named. And Lamballs are precious.
I have a similar feeling, like it's how unsundering works in FFXIV. But I've only condensed one pal so far, and I used purely wild pals I'd just caught for the condense fodder, so I'm still on the fence about it.
I don't want to condense any of my named pals.

Robinquill mildly annoys me because it reminds me of Gallade, but I don't nearly hate it enough to torture it.

I don't want to torture any, but the one I probably have the closest to a grudge towards is Melpaca for killing me a few times in the early game.
One I really like but don't mind killing is Tocotoco for what are hopefully obvious reasons.

I think of condensing like fusing. It isn't killing any of the pals used, they all become more than they were individually.
you melt them into goop that your pal then eats, it's basically chicken feed

I have a disconnect between my Pals and wild ones, I'd torture the wild ones just for kicks but pamper the frick out of mine.
