There isn't a single X-Box controller that feels anywhere near as ergonomic as the Gamecube controller. Also >implying any X-Box controller has a good D-pad
Same except the Xbox 360 controller with the Series d-pad.
That said very controller should have hall effect sticks and triggers by default. With several manufacturers making hall effect modules, there's no reason not to except corpos having more respect for glorified toilet paper than the planet.
Same with generic controllers being DRMed out unless you stream to your phone.
>innovation requires taking risks >innovations that lead to nothing being permanently adopted because they're all fricking bad
No nintendo controller has ever been good.
Also, Xboxs first controller was the best.
Fricking baby handed homosexuals crying about it
>Had the misfortune to try a Duke once
Biggest piece of shit I've ever used, would even prefer to play Mario Party on N64 and leave a damn dent on my hand.
There are people in this board that have not experienced the bliss that is this dpad and think Nintendo's cross dpads are the the only good kind because their only point of reference is even worse xbox/sony stuff.
>their only point of reference is even worse xbox/sony stu
The best Dpad I've ever touched in my entire life is the PS Vita and it's not even remotely close.
I've played on every system since I started playing video games in 1991
The vita D-pad is not even remotely similar to the PSP or sony's consoles. It's like a Nintendo handheld pad from the DS era except more rigid in the center, looser around the cardinal directions, doesn't require as much force to depress but has a satisfying but not too annoying click once the button is depressed. Diagonals are godlike as a result and it feels neither too mushy nor too stiff.
Basically, every D-pad should be a vita D-pad. Period.
That said, the buttons and sticks are a separate matter. The buttons are kind of bad. The sticks are only passable on the 1000 units because they're hall sensors; on the 200 Sony cheaped out and used potentiometer sticks.
You don't understand, the game itself has to be designed with the controller in mind. Playing a 2 button game is still a 2 button game no matter how many buttons you have in front of you.
Wii had wagglan so every game added dumbass wagglan, DS had a touch screen so every game added touch screen functions.
6 buttons would allow game developers to add more readily accessible functions to their game. lmao just kidding it'd still be third person over the shoulder hallway walking cinematic experiences
>if it aint broke
Ok but the Dualsense is an actual piece of shit that lasts like 3 hours because of moronic things they changed about it. It also hurts my hands and symmetrical sticks are objectively inferior. OG Xbox S controller is peak for my huge hands
>snoy
literally downgraded their controllers, 4 is a flimsy piece of shit with zero battery life and söisense is likely even worse with glossy fricking plastic, encrypted firmware and a mic to spy on you >xbox
ugly but nice
i like my aqua shift controller i bought to use with pc
though people say they are just as flimsy as snoyshock but we will see >nintendo
nice ideas sometimes, especially the gyro in switch
though they also made the worst controller ever aka wiimote
joycons while ass is literally the only thing that would fully work with hybrid format, at least you can fix the sticks and they are not so bad otherwise
their best is still wiiu/switch pro controllers
>Why the FRICK do I not have scroll wheels as shoulder buttons yet
What's the usage?
Might be a cool way to switch between weapons rather than holding LB and using a radial menu like every game seems to do
I had the Switch Pro controller first, hated the frick out of it because of deadzone issues
Fast forward to getting a PS5 controller, felt nice and premium. But then I actually got to playing some games on it, the buttons felt stiff as frick and is tough to mash.
I align with "If it ain't broke, don't fix it", but the PS5 controller most definitely is broke!
Xbox is the one controller brand that hasn't improved since its first iteration. Shit still uses AA batteries and has no modern features to it whatsoever.
if not for bad button feel and lack of a dpad, I think the steam controller is the best one so far. But the dream would be a X360-like design with a good dpad, like 3DS or better, a trackball for the right stick, 6 pressure sensitive face buttons, a clicky shoulder button and heavier long-travel triggers. Also a high quality gyro and accelerometer and hall effect sensors for triggers and joystick, of course.
>use weak, older hardware for new systems >innovation requires taking risks* >*if those risks don't hurt our bottom line, the consumers can deal with inferior hardware as long as we make money off of them in the long term and they never catch on to our business practices and think we're doing it to innovate.
I agree with the philosophy of frick the HORI split pad pro holy shit how can people call this comfortable
I just want a replacement for the joycons that's not shit
>top one doesn't innovate on hardware, but on software, but without success >middle one goes the middle road, though that controller is fat, bad for mobility >third one innovates in hardware, the trash of tomorrow, but not in software, so they have to hold their classics hostage because they are moneyscamming trash producers
With the "I'll decide what's the correct way to do it" philosophy.
I take is not the best business model but is like to be able do decide. D-pad top or bottom, 4 or 6 face buttons, crazy colors, wired or wireless... you name it.
dualshock when through actual improvement >gyro >light bar >speakers >touch input
and xbox stayed the same never adding anything that might upset their mutt fanbase
Gamecube controller with a better D-pad and C-stick would be perfect.
oh yeah you mean like the xbox controller?
There isn't a single X-Box controller that feels anywhere near as ergonomic as the Gamecube controller. Also
>implying any X-Box controller has a good D-pad
cope
Thank you for conceding.
Same except the Xbox 360 controller with the Series d-pad.

nintendo hasn't produced a good controller since the nes
>b-b-but the snes!!! muh 8 shit do!!!
the original snes pad is a mushy pathetic joke.
Shut the frick up you pathetic snoytroony, Wii U/Switch Pro Controller is one of the best things ever made.
>Wii U/Switch Pro Controller
pathetic pad with no analog buttons of any kind
Has never bothered be, and my pad works fine, next.
>he only plays bingslop
not a real gamer.
Your dick is small
transwoman here

No nintendo controller has ever been good.
Also, Xboxs first controller was the best.
Fricking baby handed homosexuals crying about it

>rumble got adapted

You need to be 18 to post here
Everything that's good about any controller was innovated by Nintendo.
i liked the wii motion and i miss it
>Had the misfortune to try a Duke once
Biggest piece of shit I've ever used, would even prefer to play Mario Party on N64 and leave a damn dent on my hand.
Bring back 6 face buttons so we can have more complexity in games.
Sega Saturn Pad aka The best pad ever made.

I'll admit I never touched the vita. Only the psp and home consoles. Makes diagonals harder than they need to be, and often too stiff.
DualShock dpads are complete ass compared to Vita.
Really fricking confusing whey they didn't implement a similar Dpad for PS5
shita has awful buttons and unsalvageably bad sticks
anyone thinking shita controls are good is an actual moron
are you the same arab dipshit who always posts shita? kel
>everyone i don't like is one boogayman living in my mentally ill head rent free
so yes.
cope
don't you have another beyond dogshit zero budget tranime game to play?
>i hate grapes
i have shita though

No Shoulder Buttons like the SNES had is an L and R
use a keyboard controller bro, that's like 12x the complexity
You don't understand, the game itself has to be designed with the controller in mind. Playing a 2 button game is still a 2 button game no matter how many buttons you have in front of you.
Wii had wagglan so every game added dumbass wagglan, DS had a touch screen so every game added touch screen functions.

Still use these and clones for fighting games.
I seriously dont understand how ps controllers are still the same. I hated them as a kid and still hate them. DS1 and 2 are the worst controllers
>no sega
homosexual
>nintendo xbox playstation
>all stagnation
>if it aint broke
Ok but the Dualsense is an actual piece of shit that lasts like 3 hours because of moronic things they changed about it. It also hurts my hands and symmetrical sticks are objectively inferior. OG Xbox S controller is peak for my huge hands
>symmetrical sticks are objectively inferior
nah, they're better
personally i really like the nintendo controller that you get
what a boring fricking prompt
What are you even saying
DS3 is easily the worst controller I ever had the misfortune of using.
>snoy
literally downgraded their controllers, 4 is a flimsy piece of shit with zero battery life and söisense is likely even worse with glossy fricking plastic, encrypted firmware and a mic to spy on you

Xbox 360 is better than xbox series/one/whatever this shit is called
I'd agree with the philosophy that wouldn't hurt my wrists after playing for a few hours.
The first one which is actually xbox controllers - there are almost no diffence between one and series.
Sone on the other hand always trying to improve their controllers adding shit every generation. Dualsense almost feels good but still not good enough.
Why the FRICK do I not have scroll wheels as shoulder buttons yet?
Take the fricking mouse scroll wheel, make L1 and R1 out of those.
Have 6 face buttons again.
Make Right Stick a weighted magnetic Trackball instead.
The perfect controller is still waiting to be made
>Why the FRICK do I not have scroll wheels as shoulder buttons yet
What's the usage?
Might be a cool way to switch between weapons rather than holding LB and using a radial menu like every game seems to do
Multiple options wheels sounds like a good idea and would probably free up the D-pad to do literally anything else
I had the Switch Pro controller first, hated the frick out of it because of deadzone issues
Fast forward to getting a PS5 controller, felt nice and premium. But then I actually got to playing some games on it, the buttons felt stiff as frick and is tough to mash.

>there's always room for improvement
So why did they never manage to make a better controller than the 360 one?
>"oh wow this controller looks fun!"
>*ends up buying a normal controller anywya*
Funny how one of the most praised Nintendo controllers is the Wii U Pro controller
If it isn't improve, then don't risk
>Hello sir, do not redeem the card
>If it ain't broke
>Adds touchpad
>dualsense
Lol they broke it
Playstation, that being said a dualshock hasn't felt comfortable in my hands since the time my balls dropped.
I agree with the philosophy of frick the HORI split pad pro holy shit how can people call this comfortable
I just want a replacement for the joycons that's not shit
Who looks at the gc controller and is like yeah this bussin fr?
Me, it's the best by far.
Why did Sony never implement backtouch for the controller? It would have been way more useful than that moronic touchpad
shita already proved back touch panel sucks
I may be the only man with manly and blue-collared hands that enjoys the switch control
If it ain't broke don't fix it doesn't apply to PS controllers. Frick the light bar on the DS4.
The Xbox Elite 2 controller is the best controller ever made. No other controller feels as good as this, it feels very high quality.
row 3
xbone controller with pro controller d pad and adjustable trigger distance
>top one doesn't innovate on hardware, but on software, but without success
>middle one goes the middle road, though that controller is fat, bad for mobility
>third one innovates in hardware, the trash of tomorrow, but not in software, so they have to hold their classics hostage because they are moneyscamming trash producers
i want a controller that i dont need to use my limbs to control
How is Dualshock -> Dualsense not in "always room for improvements" while Xbox360 -> XboxOne is?
by being a downgrade (the common theme of modern snoy)
>analog stick above d pad
i could never fricking ever
>if it ain't broke, don't fix it
>ruins it with DS4 and that stupid lite-brite shit and that fricking touchpad
With the "I'll decide what's the correct way to do it" philosophy.
I take is not the best business model but is like to be able do decide. D-pad top or bottom, 4 or 6 face buttons, crazy colors, wired or wireless... you name it.
dualshock when through actual improvement
>gyro
>light bar
>speakers
>touch input
and xbox stayed the same never adding anything that might upset their mutt fanbase
>dualshock when through actual downgrading
ftfy
on one hand, ive always preferred the feel of PS and Xbox, on the other, i would probably barely use controllers without gyro aim (i play mostly fps).
>gyro
>downgrade
how? is autoaim crap better than actual aiming?
Xbox 360's controller is probably one of the best Big 3 controllers ever made.
In terms of philosophy, Nintendo was right. They've had their flops, but their successes make up for it tenfold.
>Nintendo controllers mixed bag
>Xbox consistently good
>PlayStation all garbage except DualShock 4 and DualSense
For me, it's the dual shock 2.
Shit was 30 bucks and more durable than a soviet tank.
Seeing as the Xbone controller is the perfect controller and surpasses everything that came before it, i gotta give it to microsoft
