I generally always prefer stylized designs but I kinda like this early realistic take on Samus considering they kinda competed with Halo, and that it’s an early American take so it kinda gives off Alien/Sigourney Weaver vibe (obviously it doesn’t look like her but you get the point)

There are good things about Other M, believe it or not. And one of them was Samus' design and characterization. The people who complained about it were liberals who COULDN'T STAND the idea of a female video game character actually behaving like...a female. They want stoicism, which can only be a male trait, and they want her to be an "assertive badass" that doesn't take orders from anybody, which is not only a male trait but goes against Samus' actual character. She isn't really a bounty hunter at all, but these "fans" seems to think she is and assumes that she has to be Master Chief with a vegana. Other M actually had the balls to depict Samus the way she should have been from the start, if technical limitations weren't an issue.

Exactly. Team Ninja did an excellent job with the aesthetics of the game, it's ironically Sakimoto's fault that the game failed in the gameplay department. Samus already had a personality as shown by small moments in Super, Fusion, Echoes and Corruption; in Super we see she's loving to animals, in Fusion she reminisces about Adam in a fond manner, in Echoes she gently closes the soldier's eyelid and helps the Luminoth even if she will get nothing for it and in Corruption she quietly mourns for the fallen hunters; Samus was always a kind-hearted person, but her station as the greatest hunter in the galaxy and general environment of war and destruction demanded that she kept these displays to a minimum, lest they became a weakness.
Other M in contrast presents her as a childish, juvenile and hyperemotional woman with an electra complex and who freezes up in the face of danger, the character assassination was so thorough they even noticeably reduce her height and muscle mass; hell, even the suit was made to look thinner and daintier.

Phazon corruption definitely made her more feral. She's trying to first loosen Samus' helmet and then pull it off in one of them, and the other three are her attempt to smash through the visor or severely damage it. Technically, it's all in service of her goal to bring Samus' bloody helmet to Dark Samus as tribute.
Obviously, she would never be successful canonically, but if Gandrayda did defeat Samus, she wanted her bloody helmet as a prize. Kind of fricked up if you really think about it.

No no - she still does her normal light attack grunts occasionally because she is taking damage. She has special medium and heavy attack grunts in MP3:C for higher damage attacks (like when she steps in fuel gel), but those shouldn't be what's playing. Samus has always been presented as a stoic, shoot-first-ask-later, no-nonsense badass who just happens to be a (Heavily genetically-modified and technologically-augmented) woman, Other M was so contentious because it challenged this characterization so hard, going well past humanizaiton and landing squarely in soap opera drama prostitute.
Samus already had a personality as shown by small moments in Super, Fusion, Echoes and Corruption; in Super we see she's loving to animals, in Fusion she reminisces about Adam in a fond manner, in Echoes she gently closes the soldier's eyelid and helps the Luminoth even if she will get nothing for it and in Corruption she quietly mourns for the fallen hunters; Samus was always a kind-hearted person, but her station as the greatest hunter in the galaxy and general environment of war and destruction demanded that she kept these displays to a minimum, lest they became a weakness.
Other M in contrast presents her as a childish, juvenile and hyperemotional woman with an electra complex and who freezes up in the face of danger, the character assassination was so thorough they even noticeably reduce her height and muscle mass; hell, even the suit was made to look thinner and daintier.

Yeah. She takes sadistic pleasure in hurting Samus. But she was corrupted by Dark Samus at this point and had vowed to present her with Samus' bloody helmet. So in reality, she was just trying to rip her helmet off of her or otherwise pound her into submission.

yeah this one puzzles me, the designers were so aware of how sexual it looked that they made it so its the only death in the game where samus does NOT dissolve into her zero suit. how the esrb signed off on samus getting humped by bugs with a t rating will always surprise me
Other M has so many great instances of that sexy bounty hunter getting fricking destroyed by low level enemies and creatures. Legitimately the best thing about that game is how Samus is built up as this stoic badass but they make her so weak. Love seeing her helpless like that. Can't explain why but I do.

Gandrayda can canonically alter her body mass to any size, that's how she just as easily transforms into Samus, Rundas and Ghor despite all of them being larger than her and also the GF soldier who is shorter than Samus.
Which makes it all the more puzzling when she decides to try to engage with Samus physically. Given that she's more powerful when transformed ... why would she ever opt to do that? And why would she try to physically overpower Samus when she's physically weaker than her?
To me it reads as phazon corruption fricking with their brains, Rundas regains consciousness for a second and kills himself, Ghor completely stops speaking despite the fact that he hated being trated like a machine and Gandrayda just goes nuts and fights like a crazy person.
Phazon corruption definitely made her more feral. She's trying to first loosen Samus' helmet and then pull it off in one of them, and the other three are her attempt to smash through the visor or severely damage it. Technically, it's all in service of her goal to bring Samus' bloody helmet to Dark Samus as tribute.
Obviously, she would never be successful canonically, but if Gandrayda did defeat Samus, she wanted her bloody helmet as a prize. Kind of fricked up if you really think about it.

Unlikely given that it's a T rated Metroid game created by Nintendo. Obviously Gandrayda is deriving some level of enjoyment from dominating Samus, but it's not really that sadistic in nature. She enjoys it because she is competitive and wants to finally defeat her. And yeah, sure - it's obviously a massive upset for her to be beating Samus, but that doesn't mean she's getting off to it. Y'all need to chill with that stuff.

That video is edited though. She doesn't grunt like that when Gandrayda grabs her normally, and the "up and down" part is actually what happens if you try to shake her off. So the person playing either started trying to shake her off while she was laughing or it was intentional to make it look like she was humping her.

No no - she still does her normal light attack grunts occasionally because she is taking damage. She has special medium and heavy attack grunts in MP3:C for higher damage attacks (like when she steps in fuel gel), but those shouldn't be what's playing. Meaning the video was edited by someone who added them in.
