Which shiny legendaries can I hunt for in the old games before Bank shuts down?

Which shiny legendaries can I hunt for in the old games before Bank shuts down? A lot of them are available in SWSH or Indigo Disk but I'm guessing some are still missing and will become unavailable soon.

Celebi in Crystal.
Are Mew, Deoxys and Jirachi available shiny somehow?

Mew and Deoxys in Emerald are huntable, Manaphy using the egg trading trick.
Jirachi by manipulating your TID to pokemon channel or bonus disk.
Darkrai/Cresslia if you don't want to do BDSP.

But I thought neither of those passes the Bank check despite being perfectly legal?

They pass the checks because the events were distributed. The Mew can pass the check even if it's English but to be 100% legal it should be from a Japanese cart.

Oh and technically Hall of Origin Arceus as well passes the home check and bank check. Normal HoO Arceus is completely legal to transfer all the way up, but shiny HoO arceus gets stuck. However if you do some shenanigans and get it to gen5 in other means, it's transferable up to home passing both bank and home legality checks. Doesn't matter anymore with BDSP giving it out finally, still interesting though.

Mew is only huntable in a Japanese version of the game.

Pretty sure cheated into English version it's still legal in home isn't it?

          It is

No, you can hunt it in English copies. You just need to get a flashcart + the modified distro ROM or use Glitzer Popping.

Shiny Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina are available as mystery gifts in BW. Just set up the DNS exploit. I think Gen 4 has some shiny legendaries available that way too.

Also shiny Celebi from virtual console Crystal is one of the nicest in the series imo.

    >Mew
The Emerald Faraway Island Mew passes through Bank and HOME just fine because it was legal in Japan
    >Deoxys
FrLg + E, 100% legitimate if you obtain it at Birth Island; you could theoretically be saved there before the encounter and have sat there for almost 2 decades if you had the event legitimately.
    >Jirachi
bonus disk Jirachi, which is one of the most tedious shiny hunts of all time. You will not get it before Bank shuts down and in fact odds are you wouldn't get it before HOME shuts down either.
    >other shit to get
Not shinies, but here's a list of unavailable shit you will 100% not be able to get when Bank shuts down.
    >BOX RS eggs
    >All Colosseum/Gale of Darkness Shadow Pokémon (130/131 in total, have the National Ribbon which is unobtainable otherwise)
    >Colosseum/Gale of Darkness gift/extra Pokémon (don't know how many off the top of my head, but this includes starters + 7 Duking Pokémon + Hordel's Elekid + Wild Pokémon)
Orre Pokémon are most important due to their met location all being "faraway land" to this day.
    >Earth Ribbon (completion award for Mt. Battle, repeatable)
    >HGSS gym leader trades, Steven trade (4 in total)
    >the Red battle ribbon (often overlooked, has not been distributed since HGSS)
    >Pokéwalker Pokémon (not that unique)
    >My Pokémon Ranch Hayley trades (22 in total, 1 requires 250 Pokémon and 1 requires 1,000 Pokémon)
Some of the met locations on Hayley's Pokémon are "lovely place" or something else unique.
    >3 PBR event Pokémon
    >N's Pokémon (15 in total)
    >BW2 date trades (nope)
    >PokéRadar mons (not that unique)
Everything else has a non zero chance to come back in the future imo, like Maison/Tree ribbons and VC Pokémon games (specifically, gens 1-3)

Isn't the Channel Jirachi easier to hunt?

        Anonymous

No, the main bottleneck for either is on the GBA, not the GameCube.

      >>BOX RS eggs
Do these matter anymore since Home slaps default movesets on everything? You can't even transfer the Pichu out of gen 3 because you need to make it forget Surf.

        Anonymous

They have different met locations other than the standard ones I think, so if you are particular about that then yes. I did hesitate to add them to the list, but you could potentially be wanting those.

Three shinies (five counting evos) have never been available in the Switch era and could be gone for good once Bank shuts down.
    >Manaphy
Probably the rarest one. The egg's supposed to be shiny-locked, but a bug lets it hatch shiny if traded to another save.
Every reroll requires you to start a new game and catch Pokemon to trade for the egg.
    >Type Null/Silvally
Gen 7 exclusive, got shiny-locked for some reason in SwSh.
    >Poipole/Naganadel
    Same as Type Null.

IIRC, I think there's some way you can mess with the Gen I VC games to get a Shiny Mew and have it pass through Bank and Home clean, didn't look up the method because it was a 45-min long vid from a Poketuber, but there evidently is an alternative option out there.

Good luck if you're going for Celebi btw. I'm in 1,501 deep right now, and I'm worried I might not be able to get it in time, even if I do drive the resets up to ~18k where the binomial probability is about 90%.

Silly question but how do you guys track your SRs/encounter? Do you keep an app open on your phone? How do you track it if you pause a hunt and come back the next day?

        Anonymous

I use a browser site, forget which one, but there's a few out there you can punch the numbers into, and it calculates for you, and sometimes saves track of numbers. Beyond that, you could use an app, calculator, or Microsoft Excel.

I don't track beyond mental rough arithmetic for how many leppa I use SOS'ing or eggs I've hatched going for a shiny Sprigatito (as I've been resetting to keep my herba and roughly know the number of resets and average egg batch size - 1540 before taking another pause to hunt a stonjourner in Sword). There's no point to counting resets, eggs or anything other than possibly Gen 6 chain fishes (to track when max odds is reached) and Gen 9 outbreak kills (60 maxes base shiny roll before adding more bonus like sandwich/charm) because each encounter is still. Game counts KO's in sword itself so again, no need to bother tracking, just check to see if you're at max brilliant aura and shiny roll chances (500 KO's = 6 rolls extra for brilliant aura spawns to be shiny, 100 KO's maxes brilliant aura spawn chance). Other than that, it's just "switch off monkey brain, wait for sparkle to reactivate it"
