this game was made for toddlers, ultimately it doesn't matter, open whatever you find and you'll be fine
I don't want to miss out on missables, moron
its all the treasures in the cave where lock and celes escape to, they upgrade later in the world of ruin
Narshe Caves
Cave to South Figaro
South Figaro outdoors, with the exception of the barrel after winding the clock.
Stop meta meming and play the game to have fun, I don't even know what the frick you're talking about
>i want to play the game only once
not helping you
Why do you care? You don't even know how to get max stats.
>I just want to play.
But then
>I don't want to miss out on missables
It's a you problem.
moron.
what
If you don't open a chest in the game, it contains superior treasure later in the game. A potion may become an elixier etc
So it's basically rewarding non-completionists? Sounds based.
Yes, rewarding non-autism
pretty funny how this whole thread is just proof that trying to counter autism just makes it stronger. It's like shmups with rank but for jarpigs.
For someone who can't google a simple question, you sure are quick to call other people morons.
OP, the game is piss easy even without being “optimal”. Just play normally and enjoy the ride. Don’t worry about “meta” or other bullshit.
About the only such treasures that I can remember mattering are one of the treasures in the Narshe caves that turns into a Ribbon in the late game, another one in that same cave that turns into a Rune Edge during the Narshe Battle (which you can buy much later on, but can be helpful in this segment), and then another in the Figaro cave that turns into a Thunder Rod the second time around (useful for one-shotting the boss there) or a Hero Ring in the late game. Anything else is just gravy and doesn't really matter.
Anyone want a TWUE 3.06 rom with these portraits modded in?

Whats the difference
The portraits are way different and clean. And TWUE is a romhack that fixes bugs, has QoL features and translation. Definitive vanilla experience imo.
Nice
I was thinking about GBA version, but the music is such a huge part of the series, that I can't accept a worse version of it. Yes, despite the music hack.
Yeah, the gba extras aren't worth the video and audio hit imo. You could always mod the old Steam version but that only makes it less shit, but the audio is fine and you get the GBA additions.
One thing TWUE does is change Raiden to +2 speed on lvl up, sort of substituting for Cactuar esper in GBA. I like maxing characters' speed after I max their primary stat or whatever. That's about it though.
I beat this game so much that I will only play the GBA version because I never played the new content. Its literally the only reason for me to play this ever again besides nostalgia
Nice save
Did you max out stats as well?
Yeah, all characters primary stat maxed, rest into speed. Most characters also have most magic. I made Setzer and Cyan into imp dragoons. I would've done the same with Shadow and Sabin but not enough dragon horns, so they're just generic attackers. I know it's kind of useless to do the end game maxing but it's fun.
No, I love Yoshitaka Amano, the person who made this is disrespectful and should seppuku.
None of them really fricking matter. I think 1 turns into a Hero Ring or something and that's it.
>It's another OP suffers because of his autism episode.
as a reformed coompletionist, let me advise you not to try it with ff6. it's a good game for breaking you of this habit because you will never get everything and probably miss something even if you're trying on your first run and using a guide
- you will never get optimal stat growth (though it doesn't matter)
- there are rare steals, which are essentially treasure chests in an abstract sense
- you can only have one of odin or raiden period
- there are missable rages, some of them with compound appearance triggers, and even if you don't miss the enemies you're not going to grind them all out at the end of the game anyway
- there's a missable dance and a blue magic too i think
- some characters can die or become lost and it has cool story significance, which is content in and of itself, not just pure loss of content. without a guide you are likely to mess up or miss 3 or 4 characters even with a degree of diligence anyway
if you decide you love the game, you can play again and try to get more shit, and the things you missed or the poor choices you made will enhance replays
You forgot the Ragnarok Esper or sword choice. Also, you can only have either Ragnarok the sword or the superior Illumina (not counting the sword you can steal in the final battle). Then you can only have the Cursed Shield or Paladin shield, never both. And finally, the Cursed Ring IIRC you can only get either by betting the Cursed Shield at the Coliseum, or by using the Ragnarok Esper on some enemies, which you cannot do if you chose the Ragnarok sword. Thankfully almost all of these have a choice that is clearly superior to the other, but the point remains that you cannot truly ever have everything.
Forgot to say this is for the SNES original. I'm aware in the later versions, you can indeed have the Ragnarok Esper, Ragnarok sword AND Illumina/Lightbringer all at the same time.
You can steal a Ragnarok in Kefka's Tower
Already said in the previous post. Doesn't really count because you can't keep it, unless you play the GBA or Steam/mobile version. One thing I sometimes do is equip Celes or Terra with the Illumina and a Genji Glove, steal the Ragnarok, and so dual-wield two insta-crit, spell casting weapons with 128 MBlock. Strangely enough, though, I've found if the first weapon casts a spell, the second weapon won't crit. Might be a bug.
i'm pretty sure there's more shit too, that was just off the top of my head
And shit, FFVI isn't even that bad at the end of the day. FFIX, though... holy shit. Now THAT is Missables: The Game. Worst possible game they could've pulled the PlayOnline guide shit with, too.
eh, ix isn't that bad. if you include absurd key items and things like save the queen, sure. otherwise, a lot of things people count as missables aren't unique, and as long as you follow the principles of "if you see a piece of equipment that teaches a new ability, buy it" and "don't just blindly synthesize with things you only have one of," that covers most of everything else
It's still pretty shit that the only weapon that teaches Vivi his -aga spells can only be bought in shops during the latter part of Disc 3. I know you'd have to be moronic not to buy it right then and there when it becomes available, and Vivi falls off pretty hard during the endgame anyway, but still, why would you not also make it available on Disc 4 when so many other inferior weapons are still there to purchase?
You could probably have everything. You'd just need to play two or three copies of the game simultaneously. OP, definitely do that. Make note of all the mutually exclusive sets of content mentioned in this thread, and then plan out however many runs you'll need to get EVERYTHING, and set up that many emulators or consoles for yourself. It's your only choice here. Missing things is not acceptable for a virtuous person like you.
>And finally, the Cursed Ring IIRC you can only get either by betting the Cursed Shield at the Coliseum, or by using the Ragnarok Esper on some enemies, which you cannot do if you chose the Ragnarok sword.
Technically you could use the magicite item or Setzer's 3 BAR Slot. They both summon a random Esper in battle, so there's a small chance you'll summon Ragnarok. But then you have to deal with that randomness on top of the randomness of getting the item with Metamorph. So like a 1/27 or so chance of getting Ragnarok summoned. With Setzer's 3 BAR Slot, Gogo can at least mimic the Ragnarok summon endlessly if you get it.
>there's a missable dance
You really need to go out of your way to get that one. You don't get Mog in your party until after you've already gone through the trench, then you need to go all the way back through the Veldt path and the trench a second time. I only bothered my first playthrough since Mog's dances stop being useful about midway through the WoB.
It only takes like 5 minutes.
The trench itself takes about 5, making the trip through and back to your airship takes longer than that.
I've found the earth dance has occasional uses in WoR for the non-elemental landslide damage
Dance is pretty damn useful for the whole bit of WoB that you have Mog for. He demolishes the Cave to the Sealed Gate with Water Rondo, absolutely destroys the IAF enemies with Wind Song, and does very well in the Floating Continent with Earth Blues. It's only in the WoR that it falls off, where you'll likely use him as a Dragoon.
What's the best version of this game at this point? I've always played vanilla SNES FF3 USA version, didn't know if a later rerelease or romhack was considered more definitive nowadays.
SNES US 1.1
GBA
Nothing else matters.
The GBA version messes up how the music for the final boss fight is managed, which ruins the experience. The GBA is unforgivable for that.
How does it mess it up? My first playthrough was the GBA version so I didn't notice anything.
The final battle in the original SNES version has four phases, each with its own music. However, when you beat one phase, it doesn't immediately start the next phase's music, but rather eases into it by finishing the previous phase's portion, then seamlessly starting the next one. In the GBA version, when you beat a phase, it just cuts off the music and starts the next part of it without giving a shit.
I prefer TWUE Snes. Download my link up in thread if you want. Old Steam version modded is pretty good if you like GBA extras. Brave Steel is pretty cool for replacing those terrible sprites with cool ones, and they're making progress at making the world map better. You can also mod in Pixel remaster music if that's your thing. I guess GBA with sound patch is good if you can tolerate bad audio.
Those 3 pretty much. I think the Pixel Remaster is dogshit, and they keep releasing micro patches that break mods. Even with two dozen mods, it's still subpar. The spell animations and the music are hit and miss. I don't like normal snes version because the evasion bug irks me.
