FRLG. Only good things about LGPE are the cameos and graphics.

LGPE for the level scaling, wider variety of wild encounters, and visual presentation
FRLG for the nostalgia and side areas

FRLG for the lack of bullshit catching mechanics alone. Only thing the Switch games have going for them are physical/special split and the nostalgia for millennials seeming like pokegods to future generations
FRLG is more accurate to the originals while improving upon them so I prefer it. LGPE changes things to make it much easier so that makes it better for casuals.
lgpe is the better experience, but i would rather replay frlg thanks to gym reqs

I don't understand why LGPE was both a remake and a sequel at the same time
They didn't want people to complain about turning Blue into a friendly rival so they replaced him with Trace, but then they realised people would be mad about Blue being replaced, so they threw him in as a cameo and spun it as some alternate timeline shit

FRLG and it's not close but both of these games are mediocre soulless cashgrabs that don't do enough to properly modernize the originals.
Well I guess FRLG did as much as it could at the time despite some stupid design decisions like locking crossgen evos to postgame but the series has seen so much change over the last 20 years that a new Kanto game with modern Pokemon and modern mechanics would have been appreciated. LGPE then comes in insulting fashion and strips away all the improvements over the last 20 years and gives us gen 1 but gayer and less soulful, with prettier sterile graphics.
Baddy Bad and Zippy Zap and all the other cringe shit turns me off from LGPE. Stop toddlerfying Pokémon.
FRLG are quite literally the best remakes in the series.
The only people that hate them are homosexual Johtimmies butthurt they can't use their ugly fricking nugen Golbat evolution until the post-game.
