Yeah, most of the music sounds incredibly childish to me. Some of it is decent, but overall it makes me feel embarrassed for the people who enjoy it. American public school must either have really shit music education, or none at all.

"Friend" of mine got me to play it, it was boring and he kept insisting that it would get good after ARR and the really good stuff was in Heavensward.
Heavensward was the same boring shit as ARR with you being everyone's errand boy.

Oh lad. You're right that the individual parts don't carry the same weight as the crescendo that took 8 years and four expansions to build toward, but they aren't exactly building off of party favors here.

I completely understand that. My friends kept up with the patches as they were released, and I fell off following 6.1 to post 6.3. It took me time to catch up on MSQ as well as the 24 man Raid and Pandaemonium. The latter two I would say shocked the hell out of me for how much I've enjoyed them. IDK what your feelings toward the ancients are, but Pandaemonium in particular had more narrative weight in the long run than I expected, and compared to how interactions with long-existing deities typically turn out in JRPG storytelling, the first and second of the 24 man series has been quite enjoyable as well. That said, if you wanted to wait for a new ExPack, I wouldn't blame you. Being able to gear up with Poetics would be more convenient than how I did to catch up. You could likely get a peak EW set, and burn through it all in a couple of days. All of that said, it's pretty good. But by all means, you give it a shot when you want to.
