I'd say Pokemon's design is high highs and low lows while Pal's design are more consistent. I dont hate any of them while I hate many pokemons. Also with how interactive they are you get attached to them quick. Pokemons are stuck with robotic models right now and that's sad given the entire premise of the franchise.
Gamefreak should have made lively Pokemon a priority the moment they went 3D but they havent progress much 4 gens in

Fricking This, PLA was a good game but held back by the Switch and Game Freak.
The problem is that its not on the PC or Xbox, both system that solely need a pokemon game. Palworld end up filling that void. Not a lot people are willing to fork up a Switch to play it.
Player and mob interactions aside (which i do like), palworld is just yet another survival shooter. A lot of people praising palworld outside of VP ignore the former and just focus on the later which makes no sense.

part of the reason gamefreak started cutting corners in the first place is because there was no real competition in the monster catching genre, and the only people that attempted to compete were small indie devs that lacked the marketing or originality to make an impact
