>While the average age of a video game designer is between 30-40 years old, many don't start out as designers right away. You may have a background in any field such as computer science, graphic design, psychology or even fine arts. That doesn't mean you can't become a successful video game designer.
It is not too late, anon!!
You still have time to make your favorite video game well into your 40s. The average successful game dev is around that age.
I will be the first successful civil engineer turned game dev!
A successful civil engineer or successful game dev?
I'll need to clear the first step first before both of them. Don't even have EIT certification yet
I'm a mediocre writer, it was always too late for me. I should've gone into construction.
>I'm a mediocre writer, it was always too late for me. I should've gone into construction.
You're better off being a mediocre writer than working in construction, believe me
Are you kidding? The likes of D.R. Horton still can't sell lots fast enough. You'd be sitting fine in construction
I will be the first successful NEET turned game dev!
im not gonna spend 15 hours a day coding in my room while my youth and life passes me to become a dev and work at my favorite goyslop company to make my corporate designated overlord richer. im just not AHAHAHAHAHA im just like not gonna do that? im gonna leech my entire life from my cia Black person government and spend their hard earned tax money to have fun AHAHAHHAHA
>while my youth and life passes me
ah yes, just waste that on playing video games and shitposting online instead. homie it doesn't matter. what you'd do as a 20 year old, travelling around or whatever, you can still do when you're like 50 and retired. physical youthfulness is one thing, but you can still be remain young on the instead and have the same passions for various thing when you're older.
I would too, but I am literally too moronic to even sign up for neetbux. They ask like fifty documents and forms all written in formal and incomprehensible language. Sigh.
Sure. That's why I ended up working in a factory for minimum wage after spending years in art school and 3D modelling?
I unironically think that if I put my mind to it I could make a full fledged 10/10 indie game in the span of a single year. Like, Pizza Tower or Undertale tier. All on my own, no help at all.
That's possible. I think you could make your own engine for a 2D game like that
let me guess you think if you ever get in a fight you'll see red and obliterate the other guy cus you got that dog in you
Yes? I'd just lift the guy by the feet and smack him around on the concrete like Popeye.
well then why don't you just do it?
you can do it anon, dont let any homosexual demoralize you
>Pizza Tower or Undertale tier
Those are not on the same tier of developmental difficulty.
Undertale took like 3-4 years with a variety of people helping him out
Pizza Tower took 5+ years from 4 people with a steady stream of patreon funbucks coming in to help them develop
Not saying you couldn't be able to make a game, anyone can make a game, but probably not in a year
This is the real pill of some color that needs to be taken regarding "indie" games.
Yes, they're "independently" made, but rarely are they truly made by just 1 person. Without outside support from various sources, lots of indie games that exist today would not have been successful.
I got into tech, like everyone else, to be either a hacker or a game dev.
After 15 years in gayMAN and fintech, I’ve seen enough to realize that being a game dev sounds like hell
What's the point? Slave away making a game for what? Toss it into the pile of forgotten worthless trash this species created.
I'll just wait a few more years until I can just type my game idea into an AI and have it make it for me
that's how everything was until boomer degree obsession, sometimes people even make their dream game then go back to their old field after
I'm already 30 and I don't have any skills beyond being an easily replaceable sysadmin monkey, it's not happening.
I really, really hate my parents. I know it's a meme to blame your life's problems on them, but they discouraged me from drawing, discouraged me from learning music, any creative endeavor really. I still remember my mom's face the day I told her I wanted to work in videogames, like it was the most humiliating thing she ever heard in her life. And my father was just straight up furious. Bet they are so much more proud now that their son is just a depressed office slave.
Whenever I see an indie game where they thank their family in the credits for always being supportive of them it kills me inside.
I don't hate my parents per se but I lost a significant amount of respect for them when they barred me from taking boxing lessons as a teen
They didn't want you hurt.
why are you such a homosexual
Capitalist cück
why can't you be happy?
he was literally correct, drawing is AI work now
homie, please, for the love of God, just pick yourself up and do ANYTHING at all. Even if it's in smaller amounts, learn how to do something you might still be interested in and you'll improve it after a few years generally. Even if you won't manage to land a major position anywhere, you could still land in something more appropriate to what you enjoy. You have at least 40 more years in you to achieve something of note that you want if you try.
>I'm already 30 and I don't have any skills beyond being an easily replaceable sysadmin monkey, it's not happening.
Uh anon you can literally pick up ANY skill in 1 year and become decent at it in around 3-4 years. The only thing stopping you is your low self esteem. If anything you should do it just to prove your parents wrong.
>waah my parents
why are whites so mentally ill? My Mother was nothing but my biggest supporter, and my Father loved me and taught me everything I know about social interactions (Latino)
He didn't grow up in a christian household
>You may have a background in any field such as computer science, graphic design, psychology or even fine arts. That doesn't mean you can't become a successful video game designer.
Then how am I, a person with visual communication design background, becomes a game designer?
learn basic cinematography, rules of thirds and all that shit then use your visual communication knowledge to craft scenes and camera shoots that portray specific feelings or tell a story from the environment alone as the viewer gets to look at them
any average white person can do better than the current nepotism freaks that infest the industry
I'm a 25 year old neet with only a high school education. It's over.
I've been working as a game designer for 10 years now and started when I was 23.
has science gone too far?
define "successful"
because I could be a mooch like fink and still be successful
YandereDev levels of successful.
1k a month without doing anything.
I started last week and I'm having fun
Did you fix the snapback by 5% like the kind anon told you?
