I'd say it depends, from what i see people tend to be more sick of her team then anything, either because they think Eeveelution specialists are overdone or been done better and they wanted something more creative (Like Arvens Food Team) or because THEY wanted to play as the Eeveelution specialist so her existence makes them feel less special.
I don't think it is just the story, if so Mela and Eri would also deal with the same kind of vocal dislike, though yo can argue they get away with it because they are more minor characters, but still.

How is Starfall Street worse as a storyline than Victory Road?
Victory Road has no narrative whereas Starfall Street has a terrible narrative.
I always felt Starfall Street to be more of a chore than anything, i sure do like having to do the same copypaste battles every new bases
