I'd like to see more Zelda characters, and the existing ones get some reworks to modernize or diversify their abilities. I'd also like to see the return of monsters that can appear from item crates and boxes. Perhaps it can be a dedicated item, wherein the monsters that spawn won't harm the one who uses the item. Weaker than an Assist Trophy, and also can spawn several goombas, octoroks, etc.

The only one I can think of is Skull Kid. Maybe Pig Ganon but aside from that, there aren't any other characters in the franchise I'd want to see that aren't just C-list side characters.

The games are 23 and 30 years old now. I wouldn't say boo to either of them though. Impa just has the most appearances in the series outside of Link and Zelda themselves. I was actually thinking Goat king Rauru with the Ultrahand would make for a neat fighter.
Tingle as a joke fighter would be great. Seeing as he's a recurring character in the series and has his own spin-off games.
Bokoblins, Moblins, and Miniblins would make for great enemies coming out of boxes like in Melee

I play characters that are fun and that I'm comfortable using. I don't know the strategic advantages or disadvantages of my characters in regards of competitive play or whether or not they are a good mix. I simply play them because I want to and that's how it's always been.

I just want a separate Fire Emblem fighting game or something similar to smash. Tired of the trash characters nobody asked for like Corrin and Robin. 3 Houses rep was Byleth when it should have been Edelgard, the most relevant character of the game. I really think Fire Emblem could be grown into a much bigger franchise if Nintendo would just deny IS doing stupid shit like developing and releasing Fates and Engage. They need to stop ignoring one aspect of what made / makes Fire Emblem great in favour of another. Engage is dogshit tier in terms of presentation and story, but has great core gameplay mechanics etc. Fates has some similar issues. Blazing Blade was probably the perfect FE game, and no other FE game showcases military life and its complexities as well as it, while also providing a good core game. The foundation was perfected with GBA. While Awakening "saved" the franchise after lower sales on blue ocean consoles, it also poisoned the well in many ways. 3 Houses is the best selling FE game strictly because it brought back the feelings associated with the classic games' storytelling. Political complexities and a feeling of righteous conviction, for a few routes. Its main issue was that the monastery gameplay was not streamlined with optional menus instead of running. And of course, being rushed. All routes borrow content from each other, and CF gets one cutscene. Other routes share cutscenes.

Smash Ultimate has too much content already, they can't just keep adding shit forever, what could they actually do to justify a new entry?
Cut characters, add new one, rebalance the roster, add new modes and mechanics, standard stuff. Smash is too lucrative for Nintendo let it collect dust on the shelf and this would hardly be the first time a fighting game series has continued after the big "Everyone's Here!" game, like how Mortal Kombat continued after Armageddon or Marvel vs Capcom after 2
Smash is more like a MOBA in terms of the number of characters it has. They’ll likely still cut a lot of character, mostly the third party ones given the licensing cost. If they adds new stages, characters and modes, it will still be a good time. Biggest issue with Ultimate is it relies on content from the older games and doesn’t provide a lot of new stuff.

I loved Engage so much, and I think Alear'd be the only one I'd want to see at this point, especially if her gameplay's a marriage of Marth and Joker's skillset with some kung-fu thrown in.
