I've seen Lack two round it with that technique and he doesn't even play Zelda 2 that much.

Anon, plenty of times speed runners will use tricks found by TASers.
All because its in a TAS doesn't mean you can't pull it off. Thats only true most of the time.
Don't forget that towns have another musical theme bustling with villagers, some of them turncoat monsters that are pets for certain character or just for almost-NPCs.
Then there's the neat places you can choose to "hang out" at like at King's Tomb.
The game contains what feel like a real world compared to the almost-nothing you get in the first game in terms of character interactions.
In the original you get told to: >give this to this old guy >pay up for damage >you get free money >to buy some crap or leave >pay me to gamble >you need to git gud to pass
and that's about it, wheres Zelda II has at least 100 times more interactions.
The first game doesn't even have towns.
Faxanadu
Before anyone whines how hard Faxanadu is try to keep in mind that 12-year-old me beat the entire game without codes, cheats, or a guide. Yes it was hard, but I did it.
Zelda II is massively easier.
Big deal, I brute forced Castlevania 2 without a guide. People only think it's hard because of e-celeb bullshit. Speaking of, I genuinely thought the angry video game nerd was just a series of reaction images some anon on Ganker made.
>1990 or so
Much respect to you then. I like the game enough to play for a few minutes to feel the nostalgia, then I'm good.

There's romhacks that correct the translation and provide some other fixes, honestly that's the way I play it nowadays. Even then, about once a year for an afternoon. It doesn't take long to beat.

Has anyone added bosses yet? It just feels like "Liminal Space: the Game"* to me.

There's a few pretty cool romhacks out there, so there's options for that if you want enhanced difficulty and new bosses. For more vanilla, https://bisqwit.iki.fi/cv2fin/ is what I use. https://www.romhacking.net/hacks/4768/ is also an option if you want a game more like 3.
Ys III and Cosmo Police Galivan, minus the overworld exploration
if you stretch the definition a little: Gargoyle's Quest trilogy, Armed Dragon Fantasy Villgust, Mashin Hero Wataru Gaiden
It is a name. Yes, everyone gets the novelty of it. It's moronic that every idiot has to point out the most trivial thing. You sound like the dumb asses who always point out the smb2 doki doki bullshit or the brain dead idiots who see mode 7 and have to shout out that they know what that is, like everyone on the planet doesn't know.
Error ah ha ha! My name is ERROR. AHAHAHAH! That's you, anon.
No problem, friend.
Zelda II is so comfy...

can't stand people like you. you could just look it up you know, instead of using it as some kind of soi argument flex. basically displays that you aren't actually interested in knowing.

Not them, but asking that here is perfectly fine and expected. Yes, more anons should do a search, but search shouldn't replace forums or conversations.
My brother was convinced this man was a genuine error. Like the game was so poorly coded that they had an npc appear somewhere they didn't want one, and didn't know how to remove it, so they slapped on a text box like it was a disclaimer.
zelda II is by far my favorite zelda game, but I hate zelda games and that's probably the reason. the combat is pretty fun, especially when you get all of your abilities and spells. it actually feels challenging too, unlike all other zelda games where the challenge mostly lies in puzzles. which zelda II also has.
I had zelda I, II, a link to the past, LA, one of the oracles, OoT and MM as a kid so there wasn't any kind of bias involved. I just found most other zelda games tedious and boring but enjoyed even replaying zelda II.
What opinion makes people here seethe the most? That’s the Zelda related opinion I have.
Liking both.
Oot is the best zelda
I think they are both all-time great games.
Is this even possible? Next time I'm at that guy I'll try it with rewinds to make sure.
Yes the gif is from Arc's TAS
>TAS
Ah so it *isn't* possible.
Get good
>TAS
>git gud
pick one

/vr/ never cease to amaze me with those webms/gif
Me. But I think Zelda 1 has the better first play. Zelda 2 has the better re-play. also maybe some bias since i like platformers
Agreed. When I replayed zelda 2, i realized how much better I got at it and I was able to appreciate it more

someone explain this post to me
I don't understand it either
Its some random homosexualry, just ignore

Zelda has little replay value. Dungeons boring af. Crap sprites.
It is quaint, though.
I like them both for their differences.
By far. I've been playing it for a couple of week, re-gittin' gud. Best I can do is not get a game over, but I still lose nearly all my extra Links.
I find the hat of link in 2 to be very exciting
I prefer Battle of Olympus over Zelda 2.
You should play Ys III and Cosmo Police Galivan
Zelda 2 is ok but could have been great. I wish they'd have revisted the concept but I guess it's never happening.
What are some games similar to Zelda 2? I like the IDEA of it but could never really get into it
Faxanadu

It is, someone made deepfake videos with AI voice anf then gaslighted everyone into thinking it existed a decade ago
The AVGN videos made in the last couple years were definitely AI
>Big deal, I brute forced Castlevania 2 without a guide
In what year?
1990 or so. I'm close to 40.

True, it's like 4/10 in terms of difficulty
The Battle of Olympus
Ys III and Cosmo Police Galivan, minus the overworld exploration

Any Metroidvania
Wonderboy games.
>Wonderboy games.
That's mean, anon.
Super Adventure Island II
I haven't seen legacy of the wizard mentioned and it has some similarities.
sword master is a different kind of game but it has extremely similar combat mechanics, including switching between swordplay and magic.
I do
It was just his name.
Not really. Bagu was meat to be "Bug"; Error and Bug, get it?

Error ah ha ha! My name is ERROR. AHAHAHAH! That's you, anon.
You will never be loved by anyone. that's you, anon.
Did you feel better after that?
I thought Error was just a mistranslated of Errol?
No, Bagu is the mistranslation.
Do you have a source on that by chance?
Yes: https://legendsoflocalization.com/whats-up-with-the-i-am-error-guy-in-zelda-ii/
That's very interesting. Thank you friend.
No problem, friend.

It's vastly superior
Me. First Zelda bores me.
I do, but you have to be suprised how contreversial of an opinion this is.
