I wish we could've played as them in Jedi Survivor. They're portrayed by far the best in that game than in any other star wars game. Maybe there's a mod for it. That game is wasted in being a souls clone.
That and being insanely poorly optimized, from what I’ve heard
For all their ideas, Droideka's are easily the coolest thing the Prequels ever created.
The best part about all the prequel games is whenever they let you play as these rolling fricking death machines.
I love these frickers but also hate that they’ve never had a decent figure. Most of their 3.75 inch ones can’t even roll up, and their articulation is barely there
Sucks too, since I’ve been getting back into some of the earlier/non shit Star Wars stuff, but that being so intensive on your computer and eating up so much space is ridiculous
Is it worth getting Jedi Survivor? I played Jedi Outcast when it came out and I liked the lightsaber customisation, but hated the janky animations, stupid ponchos, and all around clunky feeling of everything.
One of the best aspects of Survivor is it's freedom of cosmetic customization. However, most of the "new" animations are even jankier and the optimization on PC is a trainwreck even to this day (even the filesize)
Fun with a few mods, or if you like waffling around with fashion or lightsaber designs. Adequate story and nothing ostensibly pozzed.
anyone else think sniping in battlefront is kind of hard? I enjoy sitting back and sniping but man I miss most of my shots if I'm going for headshots
maybe it's also the PS2 controller too idk
the game has pretty much no acceleration or deadzone tuning and the aim assist is overly intrusive garbage
games like halo ce and 2 didn't have this problem because bungie spent years fine tuning them
The OG games yeah only some factions had good snipers and some of them didn't even have high magnification and some had fricking beam lasers that couldn't even headshot
If there's one thing the OG games definitely fricked up it was snipers
>unlock the "elite" sniper >slow >less zoom >slightly more body shot damage but not enough to matter
Why did they do this? The rest of the upgraded weapons were so good I'd have to create a new save file once I permanently unlocked them to not be an unkillable god.
They're fast and hard to hit
I get to the cap point and my shield lets me STAY THERE
Until my buddies SEND IN THE SUPERS and rocket the other team back to their spawn from across the map
>4 factions, fleshed out with specific units and vehicles >Baller campaign mode where you play as the 501st >Galactic conquest mode for endless replays >Ship battles with some level of freedom
I'm still so fricking mad Battlefront II [EA] only got good years after everyone had already abandoned it
conquest mode for endless replays
The only games I know that do this are Battlefront 2 and Empire at War. I'm sure there are more but why the frick are there so few games with such modes? Total War in Space when?
Battlefront I had it too but since that game had far less planets it didn't feel very conquesty
It also had a bunch of special scenario battles where you could play as gungan or ewoks etc it was neat
But yeah galactic conquest was better in II
I wish Battlefront III never got cancelled

The most kino game would have been Battlefront III instead of EA Battlefront in 2015. What could have been.
Imagine Battlefront III as Battlefront II, but better. With the Frostbite engine. It plays like Battlefield, with minimal destructible environments. Same game pretty much, just updated graphics. Larger maps. Imagine crawling through the woods on Endor as a sniper. It's just straight up Battlefield Battlefront. Conquest mode, add a new campaign, bring back hunt, the jedi vs sith mode, bring back space battles. It would be like old Battlefront and Battlefield with the different classes. Repairing vehicles with a tool again. The multiplayer would have been nuts.
That's what they took from us. Battlefront 3. Battlefield but Star Wars. Could have been the greatest game of the 2010s.
True, but Battlefront was destined to be made exactly like Battlefield. They could have kept Rush, but it was already Conquest from the beginning. All they needed to do was copy the same maps with updated graphics. May be make them a little larger. The game modes already exist in Battlefield. The space battles would have been interesting and they could have added Rush as well. Figure out hunt and the Jedi Assault mode. Battlefield already had vehicles.
The game was mostly already completed. All they had to do was copy and tweak, it's not like they were starting from scratch. Even if they didn't have all the assets, they had a finished product to examine.
We were robbed of potentially the greatest Star Wars game ever and one of the greatest games of the 10s..
It's way too fun having instant action being contextualized on a board-game like map. It's a shame not many games have this feature, it makes constantly playing maps against the AI fun instead of mind numbing since you have something to actually win/lose
There was an Asterix game on PS1 that had a light turn based strategy layer where you had to reconquer provinces of Gaul from Caesar to enter minigames and platformer levels in those provinces. It really elevated how good the game felt.
I still hold a candle out on a 40k game that follows this exact premise. Or at least something comparable to what Quake Territory Wars did on a larger scale.
It's way too fun having instant action being contextualized on a board-game like map. It's a shame not many games have this feature, it makes constantly playing maps against the AI fun instead of mind numbing since you have something to actually win/lose
While not star wars, a similar mechanic can be acheived via the Crusader Blade mod that merges Bannerlords battles with CK3 so the plot of your CK3 campaign adds context to battles you actually fight in real time using Bannerlords engine and your capturing of this or that terrain or town actually feels interesting because of the added context.
its a genre of game that is yearning to be made seemingly no one wants to make it
I unironically wish there less heroes. The first bit of the match is fun when everyone is grunts, but then the top gays on each team get enough points to keep overpowered bulletsponge heroes on the field all game.
>Galactic conquest mode for endless replays >Ship battles with some level of freedom
50% of the conquest gameplay is ship battles and this shit is BORING don't even try to defend it, there's nothing interesting in destroying the exact same components every game
I wish they didn't use clone wars personalities in the newer content. The droids in jedi survivor are so juvenile compared to the phantom menace and republic commando. Even as a kid I thought the droids were lame in the show. The clones, too. They don't seem like they're an elite unit bread for glorious battle. Temuera's clones were more serious.
I hated how the AI never got to play as heroes outside of the campaign / mos-eisley assault mode, wish they could play as heroes in instant action and galactic conquest too
For all their ideas, Droideka's are easily the coolest thing the Prequels ever created.
The best part about all the prequel games is whenever they let you play as these rolling fricking death machines.
People really seem to miss understand the pure kino that are the trade federation droids. Yes they look like ducks but that's also the point, they are made to be hyper efficant and mass produced, not look cool. It has a wounderful mix of looking like it's both incomplete and cheap.
Slave Leia made me a male feminist because genuinely strong and capable women in fiction are essential for fantasies where they are defeated, captured and reduced into objectified trophies.
So is there any mods that add other units to the game on top of the current ones? Or do they just reskin them?
I'd love to be able to play as a crab droid or a grapple B2
Game development studios are filled with people who wanted to be directors but never had the opportunity to.
You have a similar issue with writers in the movie industry being failed novelists.
So they both subvert the uniqueness of each art so it can more conform to what they actually want to pursue.
>Though the 501st itself remained pure, the rest of the Imperial Army gradually became more and more diverse. We never really got used to the new guys.
who did they get away with this?
i forget, can i get a refresh of memory on this map again
it's been so long
is it similar to the snow one with the blue icy cave i kinda liked the battlefront 1 map version of it more with all the stairs
It's the asteroid map with the surface area where you suffocate (unless you're a droid) and the most brutal chokepoint in the game. Also typically a blowout because the Imperial/Republic side of the map way easier to flank than the Rebel/CIS side.
>galactic conquest >polis massa is the last planet i have to win >playing as republic >bro is now playing as darth maul >earns enough points off my defeat to keep buying darth maul >shredded everytime
Ive beat him on every other map but he wont concede. WHY THE FRICK IS DARTH MAUL PLAYABLE ON POLIS MASSA
Even before the first Disney movie came out, years after rots came out, when irony culture started to contaminate everything and showing genuine like for something got one ridiculed. At least I think that was before TFA. The early 2010s are a blur now.
I have to agree with this, even the prequals were unique despite being bad. Disney just threw every trope at Star Wars hoping to make lots of money so the new movies are not even fun to watch/make fun of
Star Wars games specifically really suffer from the modern AAA disease where almost every game - especially those connected to massive IPs - needs to be a megaproduction with massive budget and years long dev cyckes to even get greenlit.
Back in the day most good Star Wars games fell into the A and AA categories even by the standards of their time.
The Prequels were good, George. The Boomers and Gen Xers didn't deserve your vision. They deserved having Disney rape their OT characters for not accepting Hayden's hard work bringing the tragic fall of Anakin Skywalker to life.
George I think you are a self referential hack. All you do with your media is reference your favourite movies and your own movies. There's no subtle metaphor which everyone can understand through universal abstracts. Even Twilight has deeper metaphors than your stories.
you trashed your legacy because internet morons who could never possibly hope to be as successful as you were saying mean things about your moronic movies
you may be a billionaire who is set for a hundred lifetimes but you are still the biggest homosexual loser on the face of the earth
I didn't like the Disney buyout and as soon as they completely sidelined George, I knew it was doomed. I still think George could have done better with the franchise.
You still suck. You should "say it" and admit that most of your original ideas were garbage and it was everyone around you that made Star Wars what it was.
George a decent conceptual worldbuilder and has an eye for special effect aesthetics, but he should have learned to write in decades between first Star Wars and Phantom Menace.
I mean, Star Wars had an alright run. But it is obvious we are in the afterglow of the prequels now with nothing to rekindle the franchise. I do hope Bad Batch ends with a satisfying conclusion.
Those books were always such bullshit. I think that's where the idea that a star destroyer has 10,000 people on board comes from, and the idea that a super star destroyer has more energy in its shields than a star.
The numbers in those books were such bullshit
I remember the Venator cross section saying something like it annihilates 400 tons of fuel per second
They were still fun to look at though
I never bought the special units in BFII galactic conquest besides the droideka, all the special units sucked ass and it was better to run around as a Heavy unit 1 shotting everything with your zook and award pistol.
>Sniper for long range maps >Then shotgunner for close quarters maps >Then either the special unit that gives team bonuses (Clone Commando or Imperial Officer) or that FRICKS (Droideka or Bothan Spy) depending on which Galactic campaign you're running
2005's Coruscant and Kashyyyk maps were probably the most intense in the whole series. Polis Massa too but that's mostly just cus of the corridor cancer.
>be me >six years old >1998 >playing Rogue Squadron on my N64 >no prequels yet >internet code unlocks this sleek b***h >it's a secret ship and I'm six >this is the best thing ever >The Phantom Menace comes out >frick I love the prequels
The prequels are shit movies and no amount of Ganker contrarianism will change that, but the thing with the prequels is that they provided enough of a unique setting for expanded universe stuff to make something good and novel out of it and solidify its existence.
The ST basically didn't even try to do something new with the IP, they did the exact opposite. It's fricking laughable that JJ's response to their lame palpatine pastiche being gutted was to literally resurrect palpatine. There's nothing interesting to explore when your setting is just "we reset back to the OT because we wanted to make money, but forgot the charm"
Even if it's dead in every other aspect, there will always be morons playing on that shitty Naboo throne room map in the lame all characters mode. No wonder they stopped making real content and just started adding gay Disney Wars skins.
Fricking hell, there's so many good maps made for it. They're still obsessed with giant hallway?
I have such fond memories of populated full authentic servers..
galactic conquest is a shit gamemode. ai offers virtually no opposition and can't win a single battle. so it's basically just a list of instant action maps but with less classes (at least you can unlock them, your opponent is forced to use only the first default class till the very end because it doesn't have any money due to constant losing). and the enemy capital ship always respawns so you're forced to play the same boring space battle multiple times (there's a reason you can skip them in the campaign, even the devs thought it's boring crap). so if you're praising this gimmick gamemode you clearly haven't actually played the game
took me a minute to realise what are you trying to say. are you seriously implying that bots on elite difficulty are formidable opponents? lmao, this homie loses to bots
I wish Pandemic studios were still around. Destroy All Humans, Mercenaries, Star Wars Battlefront, LoTR Conquest (Battlefront), and that one game with burlesque breasts in Germany I haven't played.
The Saboteur. Been over a decade since I played it, but I remember it being a good time, though not nearly as good as the Star Wars or Mercenaries games. Had a really cool final level.
Do you think I haven't tried it? Do you think I've not played literally every single RTS modification based around the Clone Wars? Do you understand the depths of my obsession?
Jokes aside, the Galaxy at War mod is really impressive and in-depth, and I've had a lot of fun with it, but I find MaW much clunkier and difficult to engage with than Company of Heroes, and doesn't lend itself to scale as well. Also only being able to select ten units at a time is bullshit
I wanted to but movement felt too clunky and I wanted to do sick jumps. And your AI teammates were always too stupid so even when you made them squad up (even with 2 Super Battle Droids) so you can rock up and shield deploy you either die trying to be evasive to get where you want or die before right as it deployed.
Its much more fun playing the lone soldier as Trooper and taking down whole squads yourself to earn the legendary weapons.
Me
They were strong as frick against bots
This. Fricking loved how they were as overpowered and fragile as they were depicted in the movies.
>this homie didn't even watch those wrist rockets
they're fun in the lego games
also angry birds star wars II
I wish we could've played as them in Jedi Survivor. They're portrayed by far the best in that game than in any other star wars game. Maybe there's a mod for it. That game is wasted in being a souls clone.

Sucks too, since I’ve been getting back into some of the earlier/non shit Star Wars stuff, but that being so intensive on your computer and eating up so much space is ridiculous
Idk they're pretty terrifying in republic commando
But they're not as powerful. They're supposed to be the equivalent of light vehicles.
I'm playing Jedi survivor right now this game is underrated as frick

But enough about the GAR, this is a free trade thread.
What mod is that? I always wanted to kill b1s in academy.

All the cool of star wars was killed in the '10
Battlefront I had a lot of soul and great modding, it was underrated, some things were losts in battlefront 2
Mechassault 2 had an online version of it that I miss dearly
If the warhammer setting isnt a dealbreaker than battlefleet gothic armada 2 has a GC esque campaign
Chromehounds' Neromius War comes to mind.

Yeah the more stoic original clones were cooler.

They could in the Xbox version but for whatever reason they can't in the PS2 and PC versions.
THIS THREAD IS NOW PART OF THE CONFEDERACY OF INDEPENDENT SYSTEMS
PAY NO MIND TO CLONE FILTH.
should be holding propane torches
you should be holding they hands
I HATE CLANKERS
For all their ideas, Droideka's are easily the coolest thing the Prequels ever created.
The best part about all the prequel games is whenever they let you play as these rolling fricking death machines.
Supers are cool, Droidekas are really cool. But there's something about the B1 that's just perfect.
they're just robo-gungans.
Simple. They're the chinese army.
Droidekas are so fricking fun
I am always mad when I'm not the droids
TOTAL GUNGAN DEATH
The link doesn't work. What plugin do I need to make the link "work" and play the audio?

I have to kill fast and feet too slow
what is the best og 2005 battlefront mod?
Me
I also picked the chaingunner commando clone trooper and mained heavy in TF2 so idk I guess I have a type?
>roleplaying as the rebel sniper in jabba's dungeons and that room with the beds
anyone do this as a joke a few times, haha
Slave Leia made me a male feminist because genuinely strong and capable women in fiction are essential for fantasies where they are defeated, captured and reduced into objectified trophies.
Let's just say a guy I know made the rebel sniper go prone and then used another controller to make a prone rebel soldier crawl over her
haha
everyone likes to talk about orange buttcheeks, but never about that supple rebel marksman tush...
wasn't it bigger in battlefront 1? or at least more notifiable due to the spandex
I dunno about bigger but the shiny spandex was a bit sexier
>left
too needy, will NOT accept faux leather pouches
>right
practical, will sew pockets into her pants
>panty lines
is that what that is? can't believe i never noticed
then again, the last time i played that game was on the PS2 w/a crt
>the last time i played that game was on the PS2 w/a crt
same, just got the pc version recently and wow is it a lot different in turns of UI
i think
nice
>big beefy gun
>conventionally attractively shaped female
Why can't we have nice things anymore?
Battlefront 1 classic had a great ass on the rebel sniper outfit when playing on Bespin,
gotta find a pic
can't find one
I suggest finding a video
I suggest installing the game and taking a screenshot
fine but first lemme post a few more of the sniper
Best battlefront 2 mods?
are console exclusive, sadly
The xbox map pack was released on PC through a mod a little while back.
Does it include the DLC heroes Asajj Ventress and Kit Fisto?
I always thought it was odd they were never released on PC
yes it does
Nice
Time to reinstall
I meant ancient mods which you can't play on the pc version
Modding was more popular on consoles in that generation
So is there any mods that add other units to the game on top of the current ones? Or do they just reskin them?
I'd love to be able to play as a crab droid or a grapple B2
When i was really young i thought that was Metroid.

who did they get away with this?
Rolling around as a Droideka in VR is some of the most fun I've had in a game ever
This map was 100% designed by a Rebel/Seppie apologist

loved using that glitch that would let you equip a more "costly loadout" than what was allowed, and just shredding morons online.
>got to rank 73 on PC ctf2 leader boards after grinding for a month
my greatest gaming achievement

I'd do space battles and just camp the enemy hangar.

When did Star Wars become lame?
disney
and no more lucas arts??
George Lucas is not without his well-deserved criticism, but even the worst pre-Disney film spawned Battlefront. What has post-Disney done?

After the Jabba stuff but before the Emperor's throne room scene in Return of the Jedi. Only kept getting lamer from there.

lot don't want to hear it but it always was.

Star wars is really at its least lame if you ignore basically everything after the original trilogy and also half of RotJ
Force Unleashed
or Disney
When that gay ass 2008 Clone Wars cartoon took all of Lucas Arts' budget to make cowboy hat man's moronic fanfiction.

George a decent conceptual worldbuilder and has an eye for special effect aesthetics, but he should have learned to write in decades between first Star Wars and Phantom Menace.
>he has lost the will to live
>When you start a new campaign and have your first battle with all soldiers
So many grenades
So many lasers
Beautiful
god I wish I were a robot
I love those things.
I mean, Star Wars had an alright run. But it is obvious we are in the afterglow of the prequels now with nothing to rekindle the franchise. I do hope Bad Batch ends with a satisfying conclusion.
For me, it's the ARC-170
Those books were always such bullshit. I think that's where the idea that a star destroyer has 10,000 people on board comes from, and the idea that a super star destroyer has more energy in its shields than a star.
The numbers in those books were such bullshit
I remember the Venator cross section saying something like it annihilates 400 tons of fuel per second
They were still fun to look at though
>400 tons/sec
makes sense if you're trying to bankrupt the republic
Apparently I was wrong
It's actually FOURTY THOUSAND TONS PER SECOND
That's only at maximum power.
what happens at maximum overdrive?
>Helmsman accidentally bumps the power to max for a few seconds
>All the fuel is gone
I never bought the special units in BFII galactic conquest besides the droideka, all the special units sucked ass and it was better to run around as a Heavy unit 1 shotting everything with your zook and award pistol.
>Sniper for long range maps
>Then shotgunner for close quarters maps
>Then either the special unit that gives team bonuses (Clone Commando or Imperial Officer) or that FRICKS (Droideka or Bothan Spy) depending on which Galactic campaign you're running
2005's Coruscant and Kashyyyk maps were probably the most intense in the whole series. Polis Massa too but that's mostly just cus of the corridor cancer.
I think they're neat. also frick your reddit filename
The prequelz had some soul in the designs
>be me
>six years old
>1998
>playing Rogue Squadron on my N64
>no prequels yet
>internet code unlocks this sleek b***h
>it's a secret ship and I'm six
>this is the best thing ever
>The Phantom Menace comes out
>frick I love the prequels
What's wrong clones? You scared?
Can the franchise still be saved, Ganker?
not even Ian McD could save it
I'm gonna say no
Andor Season 2 will be the third actually good star wars content we get.
Nope.
Sequels and sequel slop has to be decanonized and they'll never do that
The prequels are shit movies and no amount of Ganker contrarianism will change that, but the thing with the prequels is that they provided enough of a unique setting for expanded universe stuff to make something good and novel out of it and solidify its existence.
Me. They were pure kino. Gotta roll fast
I'm gonna go download MB2 again! I hope it's not completely dead!
please
Even if it's dead in every other aspect, there will always be morons playing on that shitty Naboo throne room map in the lame all characters mode. No wonder they stopped making real content and just started adding gay Disney Wars skins.
Fricking hell, there's so many good maps made for it. They're still obsessed with giant hallway?
I have such fond memories of populated full authentic servers..
galactic conquest is a shit gamemode. ai offers virtually no opposition and can't win a single battle. so it's basically just a list of instant action maps but with less classes (at least you can unlock them, your opponent is forced to use only the first default class till the very end because it doesn't have any money due to constant losing). and the enemy capital ship always respawns so you're forced to play the same boring space battle multiple times (there's a reason you can skip them in the campaign, even the devs thought it's boring crap). so if you're praising this gimmick gamemode you clearly haven't actually played the game
>difficulty: normal
>friendly fire: off
>aim assist: on
ngmi
took me a minute to realise what are you trying to say. are you seriously implying that bots on elite difficulty are formidable opponents? lmao, this homie loses to bots
>projection
you've thought about all that shit so it probably happened to you before
It was fun as a kid.
You're brown.
My favorite droid unit from the SW universe
I wish Pandemic studios were still around. Destroy All Humans, Mercenaries, Star Wars Battlefront, LoTR Conquest (Battlefront), and that one game with burlesque breasts in Germany I haven't played.
The Saboteur. Been over a decade since I played it, but I remember it being a good time, though not nearly as good as the Star Wars or Mercenaries games. Had a really cool final level.
I was always upset that the rifleman class of Battlefront for the CIS was the super battle droid and not the bog standard B1.
If I remember right, saga edition fixes that
My dream game is an RTS that handles like Company of Heroes 1, set in the Clone Wars. I know there is no chance I will ever, ever get this.
Try Men at War Assault Squad 2, has a star wars mod on the workshop
MAW is better than CoH anyways
Do you think I haven't tried it? Do you think I've not played literally every single RTS modification based around the Clone Wars? Do you understand the depths of my obsession?
Jokes aside, the Galaxy at War mod is really impressive and in-depth, and I've had a lot of fun with it, but I find MaW much clunkier and difficult to engage with than Company of Heroes, and doesn't lend itself to scale as well. Also only being able to select ten units at a time is bullshit
And next her butt...
Bespin Platform
Pick Droideka
Roll to mid control point
Kill about 30 people
Quit before they run out of tickets
I wanted to but movement felt too clunky and I wanted to do sick jumps. And your AI teammates were always too stupid so even when you made them squad up (even with 2 Super Battle Droids) so you can rock up and shield deploy you either die trying to be evasive to get where you want or die before right as it deployed.
Its much more fun playing the lone soldier as Trooper and taking down whole squads yourself to earn the legendary weapons.
