I can understand for competitive, but in playthrough she's doing fine for me, and does decent in Raids.
She has Sword Dance and you can EV train her Attack, if you want her to do a lot of damage.
It is weird that GF sees her as a Speedy Special Wall Support, but her Dex and Appearance gives her off as a Tanky Physical Attacker, I think the Zacian situation is the cause...

I mean there's quite a few without their mega i wouldnt use without it regardless of gen gimmick(mawile/sableye/lopunny just to name a couple). It would defintely lead to some messy stuff over time(1 mega+your tera orb use+z move user for example).
Most of the fossils.....Aggron.....Delphox......now that I think about it, most Pokemon I like fit into the "looks cool or elegant but are pretty shit in battle more often than not" category.

The fossils are screwed over needlessly so much, the one instance were Pokemon should be min-maxed and they aren't, Archeops is stuck with a horribly crippling ability, Aurorus has a terrible defensive typing and yet it was made into a slow, relatively bulky Pokemon, Kabutops didn't get Sharpness as an ability, Cradily is based on an animal who's modern relatives are known to have incredibly potent regenerative abilities yet it doesn't have Regenerator, Armaldo is held back by an awful speed stat and abilities that fail miserably at complementing it in any way, I could continue, but the point is it's just depressing being someone who loves the fossils and likes Rock types in general.

IMO, a Pokemon being "unsalvageable" only stems from Game Freak's incompetence. There's nothing preventing stat overhauls or Pokemon having a new typing or ability.
It wouldn't even be difficult to buff the fossils, some of them are already close to being viable, they just need small stat, ability or movepool changes here and there.

Cradily is already a surprisingly decent special wall, it doesn't have many resistances and being weak to Fighting, Ice and U Turn sucks, but it can at least do it's job, shame it doesn't get access to a boosting move like Calm Mind, I mean for frick's sake, it took gamefreak 5 generations to give Cradily Leech Seed.

Not only are its stats so shit that its not even usable ingame, but they don't make any sense either. You have this somewhat Kamen Rider or Super Sentai inspired ladybug with boxing gloves for hands, that learns a bunch of punching moves (one of which was its signature move in gen 2), and has Iron Fist as its hidden ability, and then attack is by far its lowest stat, at a pathetic 35. That's less than what most minmaxed special attackers have. Fricking Alakazam has 50 attack.
Ledian should have been a bug/fighting type physical attacker, not a specially defensive wall with no attacking presence. Its stats and design don't match at all.
Don't forget that it's been Dexit'd twice.

Adding on to this. Not only did they "buff" Ariados's stats. Not only did they give it a signature move starting in Gen 7. Ariados is also available in SV in the updates/

Even putting aside the obvious rapid spin shit in pvp, It's tanky as all get-out, got 2 immunities to good types, and comes with a frick-ton of support and set-up options.
It can Cosmic Power, It can Calm Mind, it can set screens, it can Trick Room, it can Teleport in game, it's got a frick ton of coverage - Ice Beam, Dazzling Gleam, Body Press, Shadow Ball, Stone Edge, etc. - on top of good stab types with Earth Power/Earthquake/Scorching Sands (burning too) and Psychic/Stored Power, and if you need it to it Explodes.
Sure the attack stats aren't amazing, but it's bulky enough that you spend a turn or two setting up to destroy shit, especially in-game
those are all good aspects admittedly, though i feel it's somewhat of a powercreep victim these days

Scyther. It had it's stints of being pretty good but it's generally outclassed, it got Close Combat in gen 9, which is pretty nice, but they just HAD to take Roost away from it for no good reason.
This might as well be a rock type thread man. I think the only rock type pokemon that would suffer from losing rock as a type would be hisuian arcanine and tyranitar. Literally every single rock type would be significantly improved by switching rock for just about any other type. It's so bad that the only way they could think to make mega aggron actually worth using your mega slot was to just remove rock from its typing entirely.
I'm a karengay of the highest level. Like, I use some shitty pokemon and try to make them work the best I can, that's what makes the series fun for me. I'm used to trash pokemon, but holy frick is Cacturne awful. I don't play doubles so keep that in mind I guess, but I fricking don't know what to do with Cacturne besides sucker punch and just hope if I set up a sandstorm that they miss? He is fricking awful, he cant do anything.

When it’s in the game it’s always far in, and even if it wasn’t Seel evolves pretty late too. And the worst thing is whenever it’s available - bam there’s Lapras, which you can get earlier and is usually a guaranteed special giftmon so people would want to use it instead . And there’s no reason not to - everything Dewgong can potentially do, Lapras will do it better.

Sceptile doesn't even have it that bad as compared to some of the Pokemon mentioned on here. Sceptile is infinitely more usable in a playthrough than Ledian and and Spinda are. Even Pokemon people love to rag for their typings like Aurorus & Aggron (and even metaphorically crucify like Meganium) are far more usable in a playthrough compared to those two in spite of all the unusable memes copypasta'd on r/Pokemon.

The fossils are screwed over needlessly so much, the one instance were Pokemon should be min-maxed and they aren't, Archeops is stuck with a horribly crippling ability, Aurorus has a terrible defensive typing and yet it was made into a slow, relatively bulky Pokemon, Kabutops didn't get Sharpness as an ability, Cradily is based on an animal who's modern relatives are known to have incredibly potent regenerative abilities yet it doesn't have Regenerator, Armaldo is held back by an awful speed stat and abilities that fail miserably at complementing it in any way, I could continue, but the point is it's just depressing being someone who loves the fossils and likes Rock types in general.

IMO, a Pokemon being "unsalvageable" only stems from Game Freak's incompetence. There's nothing preventing stat overhauls or Pokemon having a new typing or ability.
It wouldn't even be difficult to buff the fossils, some of them are already close to being viable, they just need small stat, ability or movepool changes here and there.
Cradily is already a surprisingly decent special wall, it doesn't have many resistances and being weak to Fighting, Ice and U Turn sucks, but it can at least do it's job, shame it doesn't get access to a boosting move like Calm Mind, I mean for frick's sake, it took gamefreak 5 generations to give Cradily Leech Seed.
One of the best things about gen 7 was the sheer amount of weaker Pokemon that got BST buffs and new abilities, my beloved Torkoal and that stupid bird Pelipper went from nobodies to the talk of the town after they both got weather abilities.

You have this somewhat Kamen Rider or Super Sentai inspired ladybug with boxing gloves for hands, that learns a bunch of punching moves (one of which was its signature move in gen 2), and has Iron Fist as its hidden ability, and then attack is by far its lowest stat, at a pathetic 35. That's less than what most minmaxed special attackers have. Fricking Alakazam has 50 attack.
Ledian should have been a bug/fighting type physical attacker, not a specially defensive wall with no attacking presence. Its stats and design don't match at all.

Even putting aside the obvious rapid spin shit in pvp, It's tanky as all get-out, got 2 immunities to good types, and comes with a frick-ton of support and set-up options.
It can Cosmic Power, It can Calm Mind, it can set screens, it can Trick Room, it can Teleport in game, it's got a frick ton of coverage - Ice Beam, Dazzling Gleam, Body Press, Shadow Ball, Stone Edge, etc. - on top of good stab types with Earth Power/Earthquake/Scorching Sands (burning too) and Psychic/Stored Power, and if you need it to it Explodes.
Sure the attack stats aren't amazing, but it's bulky enough that you spend a turn or two setting up to destroy shit, especially in-game
those are all good aspects admittedly, though i feel it's somewhat of a powercreep victim these days

And the worst thing is whenever it’s available - bam there’s Lapras, which you can get earlier and is usually a guaranteed special giftmon so people would want to use it instead . And there’s no reason not to - everything Dewgong can potentially do, Lapras will do it better.

Sceptile doesn't even have it that bad as compared to some of the Pokemon mentioned on here. Sceptile is infinitely more usable in a playthrough than Ledian and and Spinda are. Even Pokemon people love to rag for their typings like Aurorus & Aggron (and even metaphorically crucify like Meganium) are far more usable in a playthrough compared to those two in spite of all the unusable memes copypasta'd on r/Pokemon.
