Wally is the worst. Your first battle against him is a joke, then he disappears the whole rest of the game, shows up imitating Silver at the end of Victory Road and challenges you to such an anti-climactic and unmemorable fight with shitty team.
The final battle with them in ORAS was pretty kino if you ask me. Which I actually lost the first time because I was running a shitmon team and had to deal with fricking mega Blaziken, so it was cute to give May a win.
Most npc trainers's mons have their level up movesets, with only their final battle having custom movesets
As far as I know, that's something that wasn't fixed until XY, but only for the rival.
Then there's the battle chateau....important trainers have custom movesets for their first battle, but they use level up movesets if you change their levels with a writ, which is how you get Diantha to use this shitty Gardevoir with stored power but no stat boosting moves
Rivals in gen 5 do, that's why Cheren's pokémon have trash movesets
eg: Simipour knows the only 4 moves it can learn by leveling up, which is why it's still got lick, leer and fury swipes in the final battle before the E4

I recently replayed XY with a Crustle on my team, and I left Bug Bite on it because I thought it would be fun to steal berries from NPCs. I literally did not encounter a single trainer battle with berries on their pokemon in the entire game.

Not OP but I wouldn't have minded as much if he had some actual fricking dancing Pokemon. Even just fricking one. Where's Ludicolo or Bellossom or Maractus? Not even a Gyarados with Dragon Dance but he'll have two fricking Pokemon with Swords Dance? Why not Feather Dance instead?
