I've said this many times before and I'll say it again: The issue isn't even about the character itself, which is mostly okay and pays adequate homage to his most iconic appearance (we could have gotten the ghostly adventures abomination, remember).
The issue is... literally everything else, his series is the most poorly represented series in smash, this anon
I actually love playing Pac-Man in Smash (people b***h about him not having World moves but literally the only things they could give him would be the Butt Bounce and Dash Attack, neither of which really feels that unique) but his stage, music choices, and spirits are so fricking terrible
You're telling me they couldn't get any of this shit in
They also should've put in basically all of the retro Namco remixes from other games

They also should've put in music from more Namco series like Ace Combat, Taiko, and Katamari but now I'm just rambling and it's not like anyone is listening to any of these anyway. Namco's always pulled a lot from their own titles (the original 1980 PAC-MAN arcade literally has a 1-to-1 reference to Galaxian) so I don't really mind the moveset but they dropped the ball in pretty much every other regard
explains fairly well why the music department is disappointing, and then there's the fricking stage... unplayable, ugly as sin, and based on a game that isn't even that well known, and remember, we could have gotten a reworked PAC-MAZE, but they let that stage rot on the 3DS so that we could have fricking PAC-LAND again...
That single decision will forever remain the most baffling design choice Sakurai ever made.
>Pac-Man is barely a fricking character to begin with
This is like saying the same about Mario, your argument is invalid. Fans wanted material from the actual Pac-Man games, not random references to games not even from his series.
Pacman is at least playable. What they did to Bomberman, Goemon and Dante is unforgivable.
He doesn't feel like Pac-Man, he may as well be a second Game & Watch character.
The reason Pac-Land even got represented at all was because that game was the main inspiration for the original Super Mario Bros. on NES. Mario owes a lot in debt to Pac-Man when it comes to defining a video game mascot.
That's very surface level material. When has he ever pulled out Fire Hydrants? When has he ever used Mappy Trampolines? When has he EVER shot ghosts out of his damn hands?
Agreed. I'd at least expect some more nominal changes to Toon Link and Young Link.
For Toon Link: >Give Toon Link supercharged ground spin attack with high power but leaves him dizzy afterwards >Give him Deku Leaf parachute when descending after a spin attack >Boomerang has homing capability, will aim for multiple targets if they're in range before returning
For Young Link: >Slingshot instead of Fire arrows, at full charge fires a Scattershot >Boomerang flies in an arc, slices through opponents >Bombs don't bounce, are timed explosives only (they don't explode on impact) >Shield is useless against fire projectiles

I'd say he could use the Butt-Bounce, he lacks kill power save for the Hydrant which is a crutch move that actively works against you. On his own he lacks enough kill power and has otherwise weak aerial attacks. He doesn't have anything like a proper spiker move, and it makes him very unrewarding to play.

Neither of you learned to play Pac-Man, did you?
No that’s mega man
This anon is right. Mega man has the worst-designed moveset in Smash.
People need to realize that the World games weren't popular at in Japan (the third game didn't even release there), Sakurai probably forgot they even existed because insignificant they are in his country.
That really isn't an excuse considering 3D Platformers in general aren't popular in Japan and we still got plenty of 3D Mario, 3D Sonic and tons of Rareware representation which culminated to Banjo's reveal.
The kit could work. It just requires extremely tight execution for him not to be a floating puffball, and the nerfs only made him utterly unintuitive. You have to gather the sacred scrolls from all ends of the internet to bring out his potential. It's a pain.
What do you mean?
Pac-Man is represented fricking atrociously in Smash, that's what he means.
He didn’t have his World movesets and sakurai opt for the shitty one which we have in smash
You're never going to get World acknowledgement outside the World games themselves as they were originally created by filthy white piggu gaijins.
Explain Banjo and K. Rool, dumbass.
Not owned by Namco.

Sonic or Wario
Pac-Man is barely a fricking character to begin with, but I'll agree that the stages and music are atrocious

Don't compare Pac-Man to Mario lmao

Which you got. He eats dots.

Funny way of spelling Wario.
Pacman is at least playable. What they did to Bomberman, Goemon and Dante is unforgivable.
Three Links with minimal changes in their move sets is far worse

Pac Man feels really weird to play, his attacks are mostly Kicks and attacking with PNGs.

Mega Man in Smash also sucks, He feels so slow and clunky.

Dark Samus as she's just a lazy reskin even thought her abilities as seen in MP2 and MP3 are different from those Samus uses
