Trying to decide my favorite faction/LL at this point is somehow more difficult than deciding my favorite Pokemon.

Yeah kinda funny that empire is one of strongest superpowers for order in setting but in game proper they get butchered quickly.
I can't even pick a favorite lord in some of factions so I'll pick my favorite lord of my favorite faction Repanse. She's my favorite Bretonnian lord because she fights in a desert with no trees giving my knights a big melee attack and speed debuff. If I were not at work right now I would play Repanse in Vortex right now.

I like the Southlands and Lustria to not feel tiny when I am playing factions starting in those locations.
Playing on the same map all the time can get boring. I recommend enjoying them all. Even Warhammer 1's Beastmen and Wood Elf scenarios can be interesting, particularly with faction unlocker. I liked Marienburg in the Beastmen campaign, and Granitehand in the wood Elf campaign.
I actually liked the Wood Elf campaign. The problem is that thr Wood Elf faction was garbage until they added the twins.
I like the Skaven as a race but my favorite legendary lord, Thanquol, isn't in the game yet. And I'm salty about the corporate BS that makes it likely that the game is going to crash and burn before he ever gets added.

Hyenas crashing and burning means CA will be more dependent on their cash cow to make money. Maybe they'll make Alien Isolation 2 as well.

I bought 3 kingdom’s already, and that thing crashes on me too often to be enjoyable.
I got 1 for free from Steam ages ago and had fun, then pirated 2 and (almost)all the dlc and played that for about a year. I just got wh3 base game in the sale yesterday. I was told I didn't need to buy any of the previous games DLC to access all the factions but that was a lie. The entire Skaven faction is locked without DLC lol.
I suspected that would be the case but CreamAPI works perfectly and unlocked all the DLC except the blood ones (because of censoring and ratings, it's not downloaded unless you buy it). It was worth the buy even though I'm super poor and the $50AU was like 10% of my weekly pay. If I couldn't unlock the DLC, I would've refunded though.
Been wanting to play the Chaos Dwarves for years now and I finally started a playthrough. Ikit is still my favourite and the most fun but Astragoth is good so far too.
If you bhuy 3 base game and unlock all the dlc, you get all three games in one. The AI is slightly different, better in some cases and worse in others, and there's worse siege battles in 3 but it's worth it just for all the factions.

They were way worse than I thought they'd be. Although before that, I'd only played as Skaven so I might have ruined ranged units for myself. Vampire coast does nothing well.
Skaven is the developer's pet faction so you really shouldn't compare anything to whatever they have. Handcannons out damage handgunners the problem is their low apparent range, their low effective range, slow as frick zombies, and year long reload. However they destroyed whatever I clicked on (after a year of rotating) as long as they had line of sight.
Frick so I basically ruined the game for myself? Every other faction I play seems fricking boring by comparison.
If you really can't play anything else then yeah. They have god tier dlc lords, heroes, regular units, and unique campaign mechanics. Skaven fans ate good during WH2.
Try a faction that plays battles completely differently from Skaven like Bretonnia, Khorne/Nurgle/Slaneesh, Greenskins, or Lizardmen. Word of warning, do not expect campaign mechanics on par with Ikit's laboratory. You will be heavily disappointed.
I played as Ikit Claw my first time and every faction seemed lame in comparison. Tomb Kings seemed like the next best thing, but the skeleton chariot stuff made me bored. The game didn't get interesting against until I started playing underdogs that make you have to try out different strategies.
So for example, I would play Arkham and rely on my ghouls weakening as many of the enemy units as I could and then using dogs to chase down broken units (retreating) to shatter them (they are forced to leave the battlefield). The only problem with this is after the early game, then the game gets boring again.
If you just want to be super OP then play as Count Noctilus and get an entire army of Necrofex Colossus'. You can pretty much go wherever you want on the map because of your location, can create undercities everywhere you invade, and the units are pretty cool too.

It's an inhospitable shithole to anyone besides the Count, because if he had to defend it all the time then it would defeat the point of his character and he'd be basically unplayable.
Every other character has neighbors they can expand into with a general border. The count has the entire ocean exposed to every faction with a port.
Yeah, I'd like to at least be able to raze it off the map entirely and not have to leave a full stack army stationed there 24/7 lest Count wienergobbler retake it and proceed to shit out another 6 full stack armies almost instantly.
I havent played them all and probably never will but the saurian guy for the lizardmen. Grokgar or something

I honestly haven't met anyone who has Cathay as their favourite faction. I've only played them once, and only briefly.
Don't really even understand their niche. They just seem like chinese-flavored empire without the slight focus on artillery. They're just as generic as can be.

For me it’s Vlad the Chad. Setting up a line and wind of death for 1k+ kills never gets old. Even better than skaven nukes.
I love Dwarfs. Microing cavalry/sem stresses me out. Firing lines and infantry that don't rout are comfy and relaxing.

I've been having a lot of fun with Festus the Leechlord lately. It's my first attempt at a campaign and things are going well, so far. I've just been marching into the middle of my opposition to force a tarpit with plague warriors that are more resilient than the men they can field. I'm sure I'll be slaughtered once I start fighting subfactions besides the empire, but I'm sitting comfy so far. Funny enough, because Nurgle's my least favourite chaos god. I chose the character at random, kek.

Only played 2. I hear these guys all got huge buffs since then, so they're not the underdogs like they used to be.
I like jumping from faction to faction, give everyone a try but whenever I'm bored or don't know what to do, I pick Taurox or Skarbrand and have a grand old time.
Rampage around, go in different directions every time and finish a quick campaign without even thinking about it.
I like High Elves because they can basically do any strategy you like except heavy artillery. Alith Anar has my favorite start position but I dislike how none of his generals can use his special stealth mode so the entire faction ends up feeling too vanilla. So my favorite would have to be Eltharion with his misthomies.
Empire, High Elves, Dark Elves. Combined arms factions are just more interesting than overspecialized ones. Any faction missing an entire pillar of combat (cav, ranged, magic, etc) gets old fast (looking at Dwarfs)
