I bought the game excited to play an OG fallout game, and actually got into the turn based style. But I can't figure out how to do any of these quests to get the money to free Vic. The mechanics are just broken and combat is the worst thing I've ever seen.
If you guys know how to free Vic then please tell me, I'm not getting a slaver tattoo for joining and I'm not ready to just kill everyone, my gear sucks. I need quests to do for money, or just a better game.
You cough up the coins. Easiest way to make money is killing people in random encounters you get while traveling and selling their gear. Level small guns and go for the eyes.
Yeah sadly Vic is fricked unless you got cash or you're willing to take on slavers. Good news is that Vic isn't too important to the story and you can continue on. Also you did get Sulik right? If you want to make some decent cash and are adequate at combat you could try getting Smiley at the toxic caves in Klamath. He'll teach you how to skin Geckos to sell their pelts.
So I'm supposed to skip the mines in Redding and the Raider camp at this point in the game?
I'm level 12, haven't gone to Broken Hills, New Reno, Vault 15 etc.
Why place multiple areas in your path that you can't reasonably do with the gear found north of those points? Stupid.
yes skip the mines >Why place multiple areas in your path that you can't reasonably do with the gear found north of those points? Stupid.

I think it was just a random npc you come across. Might have been part of the restoration mod which adds in Sulik's village and some quests there, but it's been a while.

yeah you won't be able to deal with wannamingos until close to level 20
crit right arm, then left arm, usually they run away after this then crit their eyes
the raider camp is easier if you snipe at the chainlink fence entrance with a gauss rifle
the game was absolutely impossible for me until I did this and got some armor and a decent gun from them
I honestly don't know wtf the devs were thinking of a way forward without doing this
when does this cut scene happen?
I just beat FO2 and didn't see it
I didn't see Frank Horrigan kill the talking deathclaws either, or him killing the BoS guy
I didn't even get his cut scene in the end fight because I just started sniping him
it's sort of hidden, you need to play around with the terminal in gecko power plant and discover it is connected to a network
and the deathclaw cutscene is if you ever return to V13 iirc
Some stupid chud, you shouldn't listen to anything he says, and if you think he's cool then you failed the media literacy test.
Ohhh, a wise guy, huh?
>media literacy

btw, post character build. It's helps to know what you're rolling with
You won't be able to get Vic until several towns later when you've saved up the money
You guys don't just kill Metzger? wtf.
Tricky for a new player. He might still be using the pipe rifle.
Sobered himself up and got a job with the enclave

The path of least resistance is Arroyo Klamath Den Modoc Vault City Gecko Den -> highwayman and then you finally head south
kill tubbs and flick

I usually kill both of those low lives and the arms dealer in New Reno. I end up using his store as a base for the rest of the game.
Wei Shen motherfricker, who the hell are you?
