Most of the outrage surrounding him is that he gets starters, Suicune & Regieleki, and some things like Flygon, Absol, Scizor, and Frogadier, Pokemon that fanboys swear up and down were 'for Ash'.
Iris broke the fandom more because she caused a larger amount of people to exit the show at once, whereas Goh breaks people who'll never stop watching anyway.
I never said I liked Iris, I found her to be completely plain altogether and not worth such an overreaction. She's just another one of the nice girls in Pokemon at the end of the day, completely inoffensive beyond being boring most of the time.

Cynthiagays were terrible during the M8 tournament but they have mostly left. The only Ashgay left is Famon. That Irisgay is full of shit.
