The status screen and dex show it. You don't see the starter front sprites a whole lot in RB either. If it's yours, about as much as in Yellow. If it's your rival's, you see it a couple times before he evolves it.
its proportions are fricking destroyed and its stance is flaccid and lifeless, it just stands there like a fricking idiot. compared to how animated and lively the gen 5 sprite is you'd think you're looking at an entirely different creature.

> its proportions are fricking destroyed
yeah probably because its proportions in gen 5 are moronic.
its calves are literally connected into the middle of its thigh. The second you have to animate it actually walking it makes no sense.
>and its stance is flaccid and lifeless
not any more than gen 5

nah
Damn the proportions changed so much in the 2D to 3D switch. Did any other mons change this much in appearance?
i'm back and forth on whether the proportion changes are better. sprite haxorus's legs are goofy and i can't picture this thing standing at all. giving more mass to the tail helps counterbalance it and stop it from toppling over. on the other hand, the smaller blades make it less imposing and while scrunching up its neck helps balance it overall it ends up looking derpy. i think the best solution is somewhere between the two
One of the worst victims of 3D, for sure. Gen 5 Haxorus had that cool exoskeleton it could move the individual parts of, almost like a creepy insect. Then gen 6 comes around and now it's just another generic dinosaur.
>that cool exoskeleton it could move the individual parts of
That was just the lazy dogshit tweening animation style they went with that makes it look like that, I think, because you have to seperate all of the pieces into different parts so you can make them slide around and look like complete and utter absolute fricking disgusting shit.
>you will never experience the joy of quick claw activating 16/23 turns with a Curse +6 ferrothorn using gyro ball
never felt the emotions I felt that day before or since.
>ummm well smogon uses it so you have to hate it...
suck my dick homosexual. Ferrothorn and it's preevo are cool and I liked them since my first run of BW.
Ferrothorn is a great Pokemon for comp >Tanky, but no reliable recovery meaning you can make progress against it unlike Toxapex >Incredibly useful type >Strong Spore absorber. Amoonguss can't do shit as long as Ferrothorn is in the game >Decent attack stat meaning it's more likely than not to run some offensive moves to not make it a sitting duck >Strong backbone for Rain teams so they can pivot >No U-turn, no Parting Shot, no Will-o-Wisp, no Defog, no Rapid Spin; pretty much only has Leech Seed + Twave + Spikes + Knock Off in the way of utility >Strong in Ubers, balanced in OU >Iron Barbs is a fantastic ability for punishing particularly degenerate Pokemon while not being as degenerate as Static or Flame Body >Even made a splash in VGC, Wolfey Glick considers it one of the best Grass types of all time
Ferrothorn is such a well designed Pokemon competitively. One of the healthiest meta Pokemon ever, up there with Heatran, Swampert, Gliscor, and Nidoking
ferrothorn is the quintessential anti-bullshit mon so people lumping it in with the bullshit is funny to me >immune to toxic >immune to seeds and powders >frick your speed tiers >no free u-turns
even those designs are less lazy
Voltorb is supposed to be a trap in the overworld that looks like a pokeball, a design like this is still unique and it could only exist in pokemon unless another IP out there happens to have red and white spherical capsules
Seel and Poliwrath don't entire look like generic animals
Maushold however is the most simplistic and generic drawing of a mouse that could possibly exist and it looks something that could have been in many different fictional works before pokemon
Ngl, a majority of Gen 5 pokemon got done the dirtiest when it came to the 3D transition. Many of them used to have style and personality. Take Excadrill for instance: He used to look like a menacing beast but now, he just looks like a wimp in 3D. I know /vp/ doesn't want to hear this because of their autism with Gen 5 and all, but it's true. The saturation was also a factor in how they were ruined.
give it to me straight /vp/, is this dumb motherfricker that's dickriding the godawful gen 6 models yawngay or is it some other resident turboautist? what are the rules of engagement here, ignore him?
gen v is so much better its unreal
fpbp
cringe
This. I love Ferrothorn and they did my bro dirty in 3D.
gen vi is so much better its unreal
This. I love Ferrothorn and they did my bro justice in 3D.
parroting is an admission of defeat

jajaja unovagays really are all ESLs
gen 6 the soul eraser
Literally. I hate how most 3D models look so bleached and washed out.
>broken neck charmander sprite in gen 5
But gen 6 is the problem. sure.
How is the neck broken anon?
Holy shit the ruined his model.
>GreenLeaf
I always liked the Yellow 'mander.
Too bad you never really got to see the front sprites for the starters in yellow
The status screen and dex show it. You don't see the starter front sprites a whole lot in RB either. If it's yours, about as much as in Yellow. If it's your rival's, you see it a couple times before he evolves it.
Good taste. It's my favorite too.
For me, it's DPP 'mander. Just look at that lil guy
I gotta be real, this is one of the rare cases where I prefer the 3D model
that's not the point, the point is how much it was changed.
>that's not the point
then why does it say it's worse when it clearly got better?
Damn the proportions changed so much in the 2D to 3D switch. Did any other mons change this much in appearance?
this is the most glaringly bad one, they still haven't completely undone this and it's been ten years. it looks completely ridiculous.

Man, Gen 5 animations suck so much
Why were people fine with it?
pokemon fans have low standards
ESPECIALLY for 2d for some reason
>pokemon fans have low standards
I agree. That's why you got so many 3D defenders here.
Reddit

a travesty
Cofafrigus was totally ruined by 3D too, why doesn't anybody bring it up?
it looks better in 3D.
They made its face fricking tiny dood. Eyes hella small. Even compared to its official art
That’s an improvement. It makes it look creepier and bulkier.
>le contrarian take XD
kys
He’s right though
never got the hate for lighter colored models
3D games are dogshit but that's not a reason why i hate them
the jaggy piece of shit in gen 5 looks worse
The Gen 5 one is supposed to be hanging from the ceiling of a cave. But that obviously doesn't work in 3D.
fish float in the air tho
The difference is that fish have no other way they can be animated. Ferrothorn has legs, it doesn't need to float in the air.
It doesn't work on a 2D background either, but people have no standards for pixel art, so it doesn't matter
*hangs from air behind you*
pssh, nothing personnel, kid
you got btfo
Its animation in Gen 5 is very awkward but it has better colors
Equally bad in both. Typical comphomosexual pokemon.

I don't care about the opinion of cheaters
>left: im gonna be the coolest shit ev-
>right: h-hello I am here to s-stall...
>left: I'm here to stall
>right: I'm here to stall
How the frick did you morons expected ferrothorn to move around?
The same way Forretress moves. By exploding and using the force of said explosion to propel itself.
I thought Forretress spins like a top.
by crawling on cielings, they only really live in caves.
OK but there's not always a ceiling
Ferrothorn is probably the least stally defensive pokemon in existence.
Yeah yeah smoggie.
Ferrothorn can't stall, it has no recovery.
>what is leech seed?
ferrothorn is the quintessential anti-bullshit mon so people lumping it in with the bullshit is funny to me

If Ferrothorn is in PLZA then it'll appear in the wild like it does in the left
Right is during a battle
>Type
>Normal
It isn't though. Neither of those are right.
It was in gen 5.
It's been grass/steel ever since it was introduced in gen 4.
your thinking of rotom
Wasn't that Giratina (normal form and then got a special levitate form)?
right looks better
I love Ferrothorn because it fricks Maushold
this looks like hello kitty shit
why is this a pokemon?
this is one of the laziest designs in the series
>Seel
>Voltorb
>Poliwrath
>why is this a pokemon?????
even those designs are less lazy
Voltorb is supposed to be a trap in the overworld that looks like a pokeball, a design like this is still unique and it could only exist in pokemon unless another IP out there happens to have red and white spherical capsules

if it conveys such strong feelings
then it was a good marketing decision to approve said design. Game Freak still has game after 28 years damn
It's sad how zoomers have such a poor understanding of what Pokemon are supposed to look like.
baxcalibur is way better than maushold
maushold is way lazier than any gen 1 design
gen 1 is actually good unlike 3d era trash
The Pokémon group on the left side make my brain feel so happy wtf
>YAWNgay

> He used to look like a menacing beast
Not seeing it. It just looks like an obese old man with a neck tumor in gen 5.
Well, Idk how you see that and interpret it as a obese old man. But, to each their own.
lol
>literally only the arm animates
Is that supposed to be a good animation Anon?
No, and I'm sorry you have autism.
Autism is when you hate change which you clearly do.
I hate change because I posted a bad animation? How do you figure that?
Excuse me Anon, I'm blind.
I think you're actually just an esl.
give it to me straight /vp/, is this dumb motherfricker that's dickriding the godawful gen 6 models yawngay or is it some other resident turboautist? what are the rules of engagement here, ignore him?
yeah it's yawngay
ignore him
>Gen 6
Yes, Gen 6. Gen 6 had caves and he still didn’t hang.
The entire game doesn't take place in a cave, so it makes more sense for it to be animated how it would function normally.
>I cannot thing for myself, tell me what to do and what to think. Please it hurts to have an independent thought.
