>Hogwarts
Summer 2023: I am Forgotten.
Let's be completely honest. This game was defined entirely by its controversy. It was never going to have a chance at winning because of it, and the only people that played it did so to spite those that seethe over Rowling.
>Zelda
9/10 Game with fricktons to do. A solid GOTY candidate and this is coming from someone who thought BOTW was bland. Using most of the same assets has allowed them to really flesh out the game and do more. tl:dr it's Majora's Mask 2.
As an added bonus it's fun seeing timelinegays get btfo for thinking Ninte do ever really cared about that.
>Jedi Survivor
Summer 2023: I am Forgotten
Game improves on its predecessor but it's still 7/10 at best and has way too many performance issues to be worthy of the award.
>Diablo IV
10/10 and the best Diablo game. Probably deserves it.
My gut says it won't win because a Bethesda and Zelda game both came out this year and that's how this bullshit goes.
>FFXVI
Irrelevant by even FFXI standards. The hype isn't big enough. FF has really fallen off in past years. 7emake was a letdown too.
>RE4make
It won't win "because it's a remake" (gay excuse) but it's legitimately the second best game to come out all year. Onky Diablo is better. Cope.
>Dead Spacemake
Arguably better than the original, but it's not like the original was GOTY material either.
8/10.
>Toddfield
Starfield can steal the award from Zelda if it has a competent launch, but I don't expect that given their track record.
>MARVEL'S spiderman 2
it would have to be substantially better.
>Street Fighter 6
best SF since 3rd strike, but the "campaign" sinks its chances
tl;dr
70% Zelda
29% Starfield
1% something else
But it should be Diablo, then RE4, then Zelda in that order
>starfield
Why do people forget that Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim were buggy pieces of shit and were still GOTY? Hell even Fallout 4 won some important GOTY awards too
Mine is SF6 and I hope Totk wins so it illustrates again the fricking abysmal state of videogames right now. It's a fricking boring game, yes, but at least is not a remake or a movie game you can "play" with one hand.
Starfield or TOTK
I found TOTK very boring and underwhelming (I played a lot of BOTW and explored almost every corner of the map) but journalists and fanboys LOVE it, they were calling it GOTY before it even released
Of course journalists love totk, the base gameplay is simple enough a drooling moron (aka the average journalist) can play it, and all the wacky contraptions people make and post online are the perfect fuel for them to make even more clickbait articles after the fact
It’s not a bad game, but I was so underwhelmed by what they did with 6 years of dev time (the same amount of dev time as BOTW). The shrines and dungeons are still super weak, in BOTW the excuse was that they spent all the dev time building the map, but since they reused BOTW’s Hyrule almost 1:1 they don’t even have that excuse.
Nintendo still hasn’t been able to create the ultimate Zelda game despite all their attempts. It would be so easy: cobble together BOTW’s map, 5-8 dungeons from the N64/GC games, and a couple of the side quests from those games too. Instead we keep on getting GTA: Hyrule where the draw of the game is messing around in a physics sandbox
50 million sells, 97 meta score and still considered more next gen than any new game since 2018. You know.

But they failed to copy their own success of gta online. I don’t know how many streamers are crying for RDR2 and it is too disgusting for me to think about it. After that game, crying for rpg becomes a new norm
I’m just blogging about how I was underwhelmed by TOTK. GOTY is weird, I remember nuGOW won despite it coming out the same year as RDR2; which had way higher sales and also had higher journalist reviews

Either this or Starfield. One thing I'm very, VERY grateful towards Larian is that they broke the usual RPG development cycle, and outright said there won't be any paid content DLC; this you'll be getting the entire story on Day 1, instead of after two years, like the norm.
Don't forget ESO. It's still a broken piece of shit after nearly a decade development and expansions. Bethesda drones are completely out of touch just like blizzdrones and both of those geoups don't understand or refuse to accept that it's not the same company anymore. It's full of troons, diversity hires and pajeets, hence the state of their games. Now that they're under Microsoft they'll have even more woke policies forced upon them and we can already see the result of that in Starfield. It's not going to be "return to form" or "Todd's magnum opus", it's going to be yet another broken piece of shit but even more soulless than F4 or F76.
You people saying Starfield do realize you're just like the Final Fantasy 16 shills that thought this game was going toget super high reviews right? Why are we throwing out recent track records like they don't exist? Bethesda has not made a high rated game in 11 years.
Only games I enjoyed on that list so far were RE4make and Jedi Survivor, but the former's a remake while the latter shot itself in the foot by releasing 2 months too early.
Remakes shouldn't even be considered for any Game of the Year lists. There will be no room for original titles anymore then.
AAA c**ts are already milking older games enough. Even nominating remakes to these lists will give them further incentive to just recycle what worked before
I am sorry, i really like Pathfinder:Kingmaker but did you play the Rogue Trader early access? While it will be a good game it is simply not as good as Baldur's Gate 3.
contenders are TOTK, RE4, and maybe starfield, if it actually delivers on its promises. If we're working under the assumption that it's not, it's TOTK and RE4.
Hogwarts is a wash for obvious reasons, Jedi from what I've seen is a game a lot of people liked but not really loved, Dead Space is too derivative a remake, and Spiderman didn't win 2018, I don't see it winning this year. Diablo's a blindspot for me.
Spiderman 2, Hogwarts and Jedi have no place on that list. Spiderman 2 isn't even out, Hogwarts is quite forgettable aside from the troony controversy, Jedi is actually good but a relatively short 8.5/10 adventure is not GOTY material.
>Hogwarts
Won't be nominated >TotK

Won't be nominated >Diablo 4
I fricking hope not. I thought the acts were boring as shit, the story was moronic, and I hated the way my class played. I don't know how it has its MC score, I must have played a different game than the reviewers. >FF16
Has a chance in Japan, not the west because muh balcks >RE4
Deserves it, ignore autists. Won't beat TotK though. >Dead Space
Probably won't be nominated >Starfield
Could beat out TotK. Depends on how fricked up the launch is. >Spider-Man 2
Token Sony game that gets nominated but doesn't win.
If Starfield doesn't get at least Skyrim-level reviews then Zelda doesn't have any fricking competition.
Unless that new 2D Mario game is somehow Galaxy/Odyssey-tier out of nowhere.
Look Zelda TOTK and BOTW are fine but I just dont like them nearly as much as the N64 Zelda games. For me this year RE4 remake and Jedi Survivor were both better than Zelda. I find big open world games boring and tedious.
Nobody cares about TOTK either. It's the same soulless slop as Jedi Survivor, Hogwarts Legacy, Spider-Man, Dead Space, Starfield etc. Let's be honest, nobody believes TOTK will win because it's good or actually the best game of the year. People think it will win because of backroom politics. It's nintendo's biggest game in years, probably the last major title of the switch. Geoff has to throw them a bone, since Nintendo hasn't won GOTY in a long time.
Oh yeah I forget that was this year. I thought it was December of 2022 for some reason. The only other small game I could see getting in would be that Hi-Fi rush game.
as we learned from elden ring beating gow Playstation exclusives can't win since not enough people play them
it's a toss-up between d4, starfield and tears of the kingdom. My gut wants to say Zelda but that's also an exclusive so I think there's a strong possibility that starfield just wins out. Diablo 4 also has a shot but I feel it's genuinely hampered by blizzards reputation
>would be funny if it wins but at the same time frick WB >don't care about Zelda shit >don't care about nerd wars + EA shit >don't care about nu-Blizzard shit >don't care about FF shit >remake so frick off >another remake so double frick off >actual new IP so it deserves to win on that merit alone considering this terrible roster >capeshit so triple frick off
It's amazing just how bad the roster is
for real though, why does everyone forget BG3 exist? after BioWare, Bethesda, and CDPR frickups, Larian are the only ones carrying the western rpg torch
>why does everyone forget BG3 exist?
Because most people posting on Ganker in the recent years are consoletards. But i guess since BG3 will be coming to the PS5 on day 1 and later to xbox it might actually become better known amongst normies and consoletards.
>why does everyone forget BG3 exist?
Because most people posting on Ganker in the recent years are consoletards. But i guess since BG3 will be coming to the PS5 on day 1 and later to xbox it might actually become better known amongst normies and consoletards.
No. Its because its boring as frick based on the early access version.
Because nuGanker is filled consoletards and phonegay zoomers who only care about heavily marketed AAA slop or gachacrap respectively, then cry about how gaming is dead.
Geoff Awards is 6 games with usually 1 indie game or a small game or whatever you want to call it. Stuff like it takes two. Yes I know its an EA game but you know what I mean. There's always 1 non big AAA game.
1 Zelda TOTK
2 Starfield
3 RE4 Remake (wont win because remake but will get nominated)
4 A Sony game so either FF16 or Spider-Man 2
5 Either Diablo or Armored core
6 Indie game
totk is a technical marvel but I bounced off of it once I realized it was the same thing over and over (the fun sandbox stuff is locked behind wayyyy too much shallow grinding). it will win though, even if starfield is good I doubt it will get past zelda hype. the rest of these games do not deserve anything and I played through and enjoyed them all
The discussions around it from journalists alone showed you it has zero chance of losing. >NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW HAVOK WORKS >game dev here, I have NO clue how TOTK works >game devs CANNOT EXPLAIN how TOTK runs on Switch
Shit was exhausting to look at
>FFXVI reviews are embarrassing and the story leaks were a disaster >Suddenly not one FFXVI ITT when that shit was spammed as Game of the Year in every GOTY thread
Im glad the shills and cultists are finally gone so it can finally be about Starfield vs TOTK
Not trying to cause trouble but its seems like FF16 is too divisive to go up against Zelda (which I didn't even personally like). The reviews for Zelda were basically all 10/10 or whatever. I just cant see any game except Starfield or Zelda having any chance of getting voted to win goty by the games media.
>Who will win GOTY?
TotK, no contest. Journalists behaved like it was once in a century masterpiece. It's all but confirmed. >Who SHOULD win?
Hard to say. This year has a lot of good games but nothing head and shoulders above the rest. RE4make is good but a remake nonetheless. FFXVI seems good but there is something very artificially tryhard about it. Starfield might be good but at the end of the day it will be a Bethesda game with all the negative parts it entails.
Hogwarts is a meme and only gets shilled to own the libs, but it's got less depth than a throwaway Ubisoft title. Fallen Order 2 is just more of the first game which means surprisingly good but not amazing. Dunno about Diablo 4.
Starfield is probably going to win, maybe Baldur's Gate 3 if it's insanely good. TotK was forgotten after two weeks, but it's still a contender and it's going to win if Starfield sucks... which is very much possible, considering what Bethesda has produced recently.
RE4 and SF6 are too "small scope" for a GOTY. Same with Armored Core: a short, focused game has to be very, very, very good in order to win against AAAA open-world 200 hour-long slops.
Blizzard in never ever going to win for political reasons, regardless of how good their games are. That said, Diablo 4 isn't even -that- good, so...
FF16 reviews are out, and it seems to be a good but flawed game. I doubt it's going to win.
Hogwarts Legacy, Jedi Survivor, Dead Space Remake, Spiderman 2 = LMAO
I hope Baldur's Gate 3 wins because I like Larian.
>RE4 and SF6 are too "small scope" for a GOTY. Same with Armored Core: a short, focused game has to be very, very, very good in order to win against AAAA open-world 200 hour-long slops.
This is what I've noticed too. A game either has to be open world or 100% movie nowadays to autoqualify to GOTY awards. Anything in between struggles. 20h linear action games seem to be unfashionable for critics.
What. AAA/A slop is typically 12-30h long, unless it's insanely padded with the most braindead, pointless collectathon garbage, extending it's playthrough by another 100-200 hours i.e. BOTW/TOTK.
>unless it's insanely padded with the most braindead, pointless collectathon garbage, extending it's playthrough by another 100-200 hours i.e. BOTW/TOTK.
for journos and most people, this seems to count as meaningful gameplay
Starfield isn't dropping 2023. It won't be Remasterslop either. Hogwarts was trash flavor of the month slop + trannies won't allow it. Star War is ass so that's not a question. So it comes down to these 4 games. >Diablo 4 >FF 16 >Tears of the Kingdom >Spider Man 2
It'll probably be Diablo 4 or FF 16. My money would be on Diablo IV.
>Hogwarts
This will never get even nominated for anything at TGA with all the troony drama it had >TOTK
Clear front-runner and top favorite, pretty much secured unless Starfield drops to critical acclaim >Jedi Survivor
Loved the game myself, shit performance at launch but just falls short of getting nominated, also another sequel. >Diablo 4
Might get nominated here and there, could show up as one of the nominees for TGA >FF16
Could win best RPG if Starfield flops but that's about it, will get nominated for TGA GOTY is Spiderman 2 gets a lower score. >RE4
100% a nominee for GOTY at TGA, wont win though >Dead Space
remakes rarely get nominated or win >Starfield
If it gets the same level of hype and like a 95-96 score on Metacritic on launch day it absolutely could and probably will win GOTY, you rarely see direct sequels like TOTK win unless there is no competition in the year that comes close to it (like The last of dogshit in 2020 and Witcher 3 in 2015). It's going to need a 92-95 MC - Xbox and Todd are at the mercy of Journalists however even if it launches to a higher score than TOTK games that release earlier in the year have like 95-100% win ratio at The Game Awards for GOTY. >Spider Man 2
wont even get nominated unless rare high MC score and crazy reviews, another extremely safe sequel from Sony like Horizon and Ragnarok but this one comes out in a stacked year, probably wont even win a single GOTY from any online outlet unless it's Playstation Magazine or some shit.
t. thoughts from an autists unironically obsessed with awards, scores, metacritic etc etc etc.
That's what I mean with safe sequels, it wont add or do anything more unique than the first game, more of the first with maybe minor changes in graphics and fidelity that's it, it should score below the first spiderman
wheres the indie game?
forgot about this, if Silksong comes out this year it might be secured otherwise Dredge or even Pizza Tower
Making an objectively worse game isn't safe though, it's stupid. I probably need to play more of Ragnarok before giving an honest opinion but FW was awful compared to HZD.
>Who will win GOTY?
OK lets see:
hogwarts - troony trap with a lot of blacks
Zelda - best game to ever come up since BOTW
Jedi - troony trap with terrible VA and even worse story, oh and also full with blacks
Diablo - everyone (even diablo fans) forgot already about this shit even existed in the first place
FF - no blacks (huge plus) but minimal gaygetry (solid contender when put close to TOTK)
RE4 - I never played the OG so i have zero nostalgia about this game, having said that game is mid at best
Dead space - good remake i guess but nothing to write home about
Startfield - field to the maximum with trans agenda, blackness, and extremely boring gameplay, coupled with random planets probably with no content
Spider man 2 - well 50% is black but i do have some hopes for it, however GOTY would be almost impossible
I didn't look deeply into this, but does MC score really affect who gets nominee? Stray scored a measly 83 and was nominated so I highly doubt the score is all that relevant.
Tears of the Kingdom
Tears of the Kingdom
Super Mario Wonderland obviously
excuse me, it's actually wonderworld.
I wanna say Resident Evil 4 but I know people will shit blood if I say that because it's a remake.
Resident Evil 4.
IT'S TODDS FRICKING TURN
TFT set 9
TotK but maybe Starfield if it’s good
>2 remakes
>FIVE SEQUELS
>only 1 new IP (Starfield)
Starfield winning is a win for original content in this industry and not regurgitated garbage
>not regurgitated garbage
It's literally Fallout 4 down to UI elements, even if slightly changed. All it does is go with a "NASAcore" design.
Starfield is the blandest and most generic of the bunch. Even remasters have more sovl.
But it is marketable for games on xgp.
SF is Fallout 4 In Space but somehow worse.
ToTK, but only due to israeli nepotism. Goyslop.
did you look at the games in ops picture? they're all fricking gay except for totk
Wow that whole image is trying too hard.
gaddamn son, you should really try going outside for once. not even hating, just trying to help

that game is going to be fricking sweet
This. Miyazaki will take the GOTY away from Todd's cold hands.

lol Capcom and Nintendo consistently making top tier games for 40 years. How do they do it
>Crapcom rehashes winning anything
No way gay.
They're still the second and third highest rated game. Whatever company you think is better is getting raw dog fricked by Capcom homosexual.
Only Zelda and Starfield are worthy contenders
Can't wait for Starfield to get another 88 like this. You gays are dumb as rocks yet again if you think it's getting better reviews than RE4.
Actually GOTY? Kinofield
Troon awards goty? zelda, garry's mod edition
Cyberpunk 2077:Phantom Liberty or Baldur's Gate 3. I'd say BG3 since it is a full game and not just an expansion.
Cyberskunk is dead, gone and forgotten. It might win biggest diaster of the generation but that's it.

Liking bad games and taking up for them does. 2077 is forever archived as a bad game. You'll never change that fact.

New Vegas was literally unplayable on launch and it took years of troony spam to be considered a cult classic.

50/50 between zelda and starfield.
Why's SF6 not listed? It's the 3rd highest rated game of the year right now.

If Starfield doesn't get at least Skyrim-level reviews then Zelda doesn't have any fricking competition.
Unless that new 2D Mario game is somehow Galaxy/Odyssey-tier out of nowhere.
No pressure, Todd.
Stop liking Diablo you braindead loot homosexuals
Starfield and it's not even close
huge zelda fan.
totk is a disgrace. can't explain due to limitations. too much to say.
sadly it's going to win.
hoping starfield is at least stupid fun so it could take the cake at the end.
What the frick is that spacing?

Resident Evil 4
GOTY 2023
Look Zelda TOTK and BOTW are fine but I just dont like them nearly as much as the N64 Zelda games. For me this year RE4 remake and Jedi Survivor were both better than Zelda. I find big open world games boring and tedious.
Hogwarts, Star Wars, and Dead Space evaporated from memory less than a week after their release. It will be TOTK, Spider Man, or FF16
Hogwarts Legacy cant even be nominated for obvious reasons which you all know
What will be the obligatory indie game that gets nominated?
Pizza Tower
Oh yeah I forget that was this year. I thought it was December of 2022 for some reason. The only other small game I could see getting in would be that Hi-Fi rush game.
Starfields biggest problem for goty is not being on PS5 lmao
>Starfields biggest problem
Is being a Bethesda game.
Fair enough kek. Isn't it still the same ancient dog shit engine too? Cuz it sure looks like it.
as we learned from elden ring beating gow Playstation exclusives can't win since not enough people play them
it's a toss-up between d4, starfield and tears of the kingdom. My gut wants to say Zelda but that's also an exclusive so I think there's a strong possibility that starfield just wins out. Diablo 4 also has a shot but I feel it's genuinely hampered by blizzards reputation
Black person RDR2 losing in 2019 and the trash of us winning 2020 says otherwise.
Starfield is only on Xbox Series S/X and PC.
>would be funny if it wins but at the same time frick WB
>don't care about Zelda shit
>don't care about nerd wars + EA shit
>don't care about nu-Blizzard shit
>don't care about FF shit
>remake so frick off
>another remake so double frick off
>actual new IP so it deserves to win on that merit alone considering this terrible roster
>capeshit so triple frick off
It's amazing just how bad the roster is
Starfield or Zelda
I don't care
starfield
for real though, why does everyone forget BG3 exist? after BioWare, Bethesda, and CDPR frickups, Larian are the only ones carrying the western rpg torch
Because Larian have never actually produced a great game: they're like marvel, always ok, never great.
>why does everyone forget BG3 exist?
Because most people posting on Ganker in the recent years are consoletards. But i guess since BG3 will be coming to the PS5 on day 1 and later to xbox it might actually become better known amongst normies and consoletards.
No. Its because its boring as frick based on the early access version.
Early access kills linear story driven games. It is for sandboxes only.
Because nuGanker is filled consoletards and phonegay zoomers who only care about heavily marketed AAA slop or gachacrap respectively, then cry about how gaming is dead.
Zelda by Nintendotax alone
Geoff Awards is 6 games with usually 1 indie game or a small game or whatever you want to call it. Stuff like it takes two. Yes I know its an EA game but you know what I mean. There's always 1 non big AAA game.
1 Zelda TOTK
2 Starfield
3 RE4 Remake (wont win because remake but will get nominated)
4 A Sony game so either FF16 or Spider-Man 2
5 Either Diablo or Armored core
6 Indie game
Tears of the Kingdom
Final Fantasy XVI
>Who will win
Either zelda or starfield depending on that one reviews
>who should win
Pikmin 4
totk is a technical marvel but I bounced off of it once I realized it was the same thing over and over (the fun sandbox stuff is locked behind wayyyy too much shallow grinding). it will win though, even if starfield is good I doubt it will get past zelda hype. the rest of these games do not deserve anything and I played through and enjoyed them all
TOTK
The discussions around it from journalists alone showed you it has zero chance of losing.
>NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT HOW HAVOK WORKS
>game dev here, I have NO clue how TOTK works
>game devs CANNOT EXPLAIN how TOTK runs on Switch
Shit was exhausting to look at
>FFXVI reviews are embarrassing and the story leaks were a disaster
>Suddenly not one FFXVI ITT when that shit was spammed as Game of the Year in every GOTY thread
Im glad the shills and cultists are finally gone so it can finally be about Starfield vs TOTK
It's RE4 vs Zelda actually. Starfield is getting another 88 meta like FF
It's easily Baldur's Gate 3.
>I hope Baldur's Gate 3 wins because I like Larian.
Same. The game is great. I loved the early access.
Starfield.
REMINDER SPIDER-MAN 1 DIDNT WIN GOTY AWARDS IN 2018 WHICH WAS A MUCH EASIER YEAR TO WIN GOTY
Tears
FF16
According to who?
not a single one of those deserves it
Zelda
Pizza Tower
Possibly replace Spider-Man 2 with obligatory indie game
Anything but totk
not a single one of these games is goty worthy. They're all trash or remakes, christ. What an absolute shit year for gaming.
Absolute cuck take. Sorry no BRs dropped lil zoom zoom. Real vidya is back on the menu
>everyone ignoring Alan Wake 2
Starfield isn't dropping 2023. It won't be Remasterslop either. Hogwarts was trash flavor of the month slop + trannies won't allow it. Star War is ass so that's not a question. So it comes down to these 4 games.
>Diablo 4
>FF 16
>Tears of the Kingdom
>Spider Man 2
It'll probably be Diablo 4 or FF 16. My money would be on Diablo IV.
Do you have inside knowledge? MS cannot afford delaying the starfield.
>Hogwarts
This will never get even nominated for anything at TGA with all the troony drama it had
>TOTK
Clear front-runner and top favorite, pretty much secured unless Starfield drops to critical acclaim
>Jedi Survivor
Loved the game myself, shit performance at launch but just falls short of getting nominated, also another sequel.
>Diablo 4
Might get nominated here and there, could show up as one of the nominees for TGA
>FF16
Could win best RPG if Starfield flops but that's about it, will get nominated for TGA GOTY is Spiderman 2 gets a lower score.
>RE4
100% a nominee for GOTY at TGA, wont win though
>Dead Space
remakes rarely get nominated or win
>Starfield
If it gets the same level of hype and like a 95-96 score on Metacritic on launch day it absolutely could and probably will win GOTY, you rarely see direct sequels like TOTK win unless there is no competition in the year that comes close to it (like The last of dogshit in 2020 and Witcher 3 in 2015). It's going to need a 92-95 MC - Xbox and Todd are at the mercy of Journalists however even if it launches to a higher score than TOTK games that release earlier in the year have like 95-100% win ratio at The Game Awards for GOTY.
>Spider Man 2
wont even get nominated unless rare high MC score and crazy reviews, another extremely safe sequel from Sony like Horizon and Ragnarok but this one comes out in a stacked year, probably wont even win a single GOTY from any online outlet unless it's Playstation Magazine or some shit.
t. thoughts from an autists unironically obsessed with awards, scores, metacritic etc etc etc.
wheres the indie game?
>another extremely safe sequel
>like Horizon and Ragnarok
Both of those sequels were worse than the first games, especially Forbidden West.
That's what I mean with safe sequels, it wont add or do anything more unique than the first game, more of the first with maybe minor changes in graphics and fidelity that's it, it should score below the first spiderman
forgot about this, if Silksong comes out this year it might be secured otherwise Dredge or even Pizza Tower
I hope i answer your question anon
>ITT thread full of anons who played maybe 1 or 2 max games on the list, and pretending they played all of them
Rhis year so far I have played
Hogwarts Legacy
RE4 Remake
Jedi Survivor
Zelda Tears of the Kingdom
I didn't look deeply into this, but does MC score really affect who gets nominee? Stray scored a measly 83 and was nominated so I highly doubt the score is all that relevant.
Zelda will win
It also deserves to win the most
