Obviously losing your gear isn't fun, it's a risk you take to engage in the other high risk, high reward, fun parts of the game. Potentially losing your gear is an inevitability that you accept, its not like you get off to it like some weird sadomasochist. Full loot games also have gear progression that's much faster than the MMOs you're used to. Ragnarok as an example would be awful to lose your gear in when it took you 3 months of camping a boss to get it.

Everyone whining about muh open world PVP always makes me laugh, because outside of like 20 year old games like RS and EVE, and Albion being the outlier, everyone stays far away from them. And in games that allow similar levels of griefing like Dark Souls, 99% of the playerbase would gladly block griefers if they could.
But that isn't what happens though. What happens is gays just griefing easy targets until the game dies and they screech about how "everyone is toxic and no one wants to play with them" and move on to another game. The only exceptions are RS, EVE and Albion where this isn't allowed and there are restrictions.

Except every other MMO basically has the expectation of "if you haven't played this game for 10 years and know everything about it get the frick out", while XIV has been touted as this hecking wholesome chungus where everybody is super helpful.
that's been my experience, when I go into an instance I haven't done yet, I say "first time here" and typically people are decent. I've had a few spergs, but that's easily solved with some shit talk or well aimed boss cleaves.

oh you totally don't play, most offtanks in easy content are alt jobs or don't even have their tank stance on and just mindlessly mash out their rotation. maybe in higher difficulty content will someone actually taunt off of you, but some random roulette trial/raid? unlikely. there are also mechanics that target you independently from the boss's aggro, like the Warrior of Light's Bahamut cone tether thingy. you gotta point them out of the arena, nobody can taunt them off of you either, so you point that shit at the sperg and laugh.

I never understood people who play a healer but hate big pulls. One of the most fun things to do is frantically pop all your cooldowns and try to keep an undergeared tank alive in a big pull. Pop your emergency tactics and eat your fairy and throw out as many aetherflow abilities as you can and then spam basic shields and pray to Hydaelyn. Once everyone has their new and shiny gear you don't get that fun anymore.
These types of people don't derive fun from the game itself, but from power tripping and controlling other players. Forcing everyone to go slower gives them pleasure, and the more you try to fight it, the more enjoyment you're providing them. A confrontation is their ideal outcome.

The only actual "organic" community you will get in XIV is probably fishers and easily the most enjoyable part of the game. Playing PLD was fun if I had a shit healer, I could Clemency myself and it would make them mad. Even better was that I had WHM, SCH and AST at 80 (during ShB), so if they couldn't even try to lecture me on healing.

One time I was leading like an eight-or-so man OP in SWTOR and our one and only healer needed us to pause for a second so he could do something irl. Only sixty seconds passed before some whiny DPS homosexual started saying I should kick him from the OP and get a new one instead. If you know SWTOR then you know it would be hard to get another healer quick enough, so I told that homosexual to shut the frick up and we waited only a couple more minutes for him to come back. Another time it was my brother (who played DPS in the OP with us) who some guy said I should kick. I again used my awesome powers as leader of the group to tell that homosexual to shut the frick up and get over it.

Obviously losing your gear isn't fun, it's a risk you take to engage in the other high risk, high reward, fun parts of the game. Potentially losing your gear is an inevitability that you accept, its not like you get off to it like some weird sadomasochist. Full loot games also have gear progression that's much faster than the MMOs you're used to. Ragnarok as an example would be awful to lose your gear in when it took you 3 months of camping a boss to get it.
Ragnarok is casual as frick, being grindy doesn't make the game hardcore, nor does having huge power disparity from gear. Most of the people that play don't even go for mvps, they just dress up and RP. It is my generations FF14 and you didn't actually grow up on it if you disagree.

This is the only "online game" I ever played that would be better suited as an autist single player game where you can savantly focus on grindy goals without having to worry about your party members trooning out at you like this. A lot of content is already so old you can barely find a party for it, like Coils which you can solo (without bots) but you have to do so when you're lvl 80 or 90 which is when you will be much further in the story than you were supposed to be when you did Coils.
I feel like healers are unnecessary considering how fast the health regen is in roulette dungeons provided you aren't standing in stuff

I never understood people who play a healer but hate big pulls. One of the most fun things to do is frantically pop all your cooldowns and try to keep an undergeared tank alive in a big pull. Pop your emergency tactics and eat your fairy and throw out as many aetherflow abilities as you can and then spam basic shields and pray to Hydaelyn. Once everyone has their new and shiny gear you don't get that fun anymore.
They have undiagnosed autism. If they end up in a choice paralysis moment it is autism based.
These types of people don't derive fun from the game itself, but from power tripping and controlling other players. Forcing everyone to go slower gives them pleasure, and the more you try to fight it, the more enjoyment you're providing them. A confrontation is their ideal outcome.
