I'm probably missing somebody but even having beaten every classic MM a bunch of times I'm never confident I'll beat Shadow Man in a single try in a buster-only run. Still it's the fun sort of Robot Master; I like when they involve testing your reflexes and core skillset rather than just memorizing a pattern.
I mean, that dps would be so shit you'd frick up out of sheer boredom. fighting yellow devil when you get the hang of it feels like you're fighting him in slow mo.
Fire Man is awful and has no pattern. People that say to just jump are lying. Easily the worst robot master in MM1.
Quick Man also has no pattern and his weakness only takes away half his health. He's easily the hardest in MM2. Wood Man would be second. He's a real b***h.
Hard Man is the worst in MM3. He's really annoying and it's hard to dodge his fists and I think his shockwave attack freezes you even in the air which is cheap.
I don't remember any in 4-6 that were too troublesome, so out of the NES games I'd say it's either Quick Man or Fire Man that are tied for hardest. Honorable mention to the clone fight in MM1 as that's another that I don't know if there's a strategy to it. Sometimes he'll just read your inputs and walk into you and not let you jump over him and there's just nothing you can do to get away.
The "you can do everything correct but the boss may hit you for fun anyway" Gang: >Slashman >Quickman >Gutsman
in suspect testing: >Airman >Sparkman >Pirateman >Burnerman >Dynamoman
man, I beat 'em all and no one boss sticks out really. maybe I beat them all too quick, played them for the first time a year ago in order, back to back. they were a blast though.
Probably Quick Man, Docbot version

HardMan is obviously the hardest. It's literally in his name. HardMan. Hard Boss. Hard Beats
For me it's
Any of the Wily's castle bosses
Gemini man buster only is frigging impossible and the fact that he follows an obvious pattern makes it even more infuriating.
No RM is even close to "impossible" buster-only or not, though some will mow you down mercilessly unless you know their pattern by heart.
I don't think I've ever beaten Yellow Devil buster only

Bumping this thread so I can make webms later on to show how it's done
Shadow Man is the only robot master I've never been able to beat buster-only, out of the 6 NES games and 9 and 10.
I love how Fire Man exposes morons who try to brute force video games.
